Good breakfast burrito at a decent price. Do not expect anything fancy though. Definitely seems good for kids.

The place reminds me of bars that I would have frequented in my twenties and felt strangely familiar. The bar keep/waiter was super friendly and laid back. Our party of two proceeded to order burgers, mine with regular fries and my dining companion the garlic fries. I made a few substitutions which were quickly accommodated with a smile. The burgers were soooo good! Cooked perfectly to order and the garlic fries are a must. So perfectly garlicky without any bitterness and delightfully delicious. The fries are perfectly between thin and steak, striking a balance that fits just about any preference.

They're known for their burgers, but even without ordering one, everything we tried was delicious. The fried sweet pickles with house-made ranch were my absolute favorite--perfectly crispy and so flavorful. The mac and cheese was rich and homemade-tasting, and the house chips with salsa and beer cheese dip were a great addition. Our friends ordered the mac-and-cheese grilled cheese (yes, really!) and devoured it, and the Reuben was also a huge hit. Definitely an 11/10 experience. We'd absolutely come back if we're in the area again.

The restaurant has an elegant and sophisticated ambiance, suitable for couples' dates, gatherings with friends, or anniversaries. The service staff were very welcoming and attentive from taking our order to serving the food, proactively introducing signature dishes and suggesting different levels of doneness for the steak, making the entire dining experience very comfortable.

It was a nice surprise to see a hand written "Congratulations and Happy Anniversary" card. A complimentary treat of Focaccia bread with avocado and kimchi was given as well as a glass of champagne for the both of us. Our waiter was helpful, offering his opinion on what wine to take. We went for whatever he suggested for white (for her) and red (for me). Both were good picks. Our dinner started with toasted focaccia bread. She ordered a Caesar salad also. The appetizer was 3 large slices of bread with stracciatella and pear compote. The bread was light and buttery. The stracciatella was good blending well with the bread. The Caesar salad was a big serving. Tasty and simple, nothing special. Our main entree was filet mignon for my wife and wagyu rib eye for me, both medium rare. The filet was topped with garlic confit and I added chimichurri to my ribeye. The plating was simple, the protein with the side and roasted garlic. We also added smashed potatoes to share. Our first bite was the meat itself with no dressing. I can taste why the steak was priced that way. It just melted in my mouth and left a nice smooth aftertaste. We exchanged bites, she felt the same way and I agreed that her filet was perfect. After adding the roasted garlic and chimichurri, the slices were heavenly. The surprise for me was the smashed potatoes. First time trying this dish and I was impressed. The crispness of the skin was a nice surprise. The butter and garlic added another layer of flavor. We topped our dinner with a toffee bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and caramel. I'm not a dessert person but this, this was good! Overall it was a great dinner. The food was excellent. The staff was amazing. Of course, my date was beautiful. Thank you Butcher and Barrel for an awesome dinner experience!

The fact that the…read moremajority of Sacramentans are not intimately familiar with this fine establishment despite being on national tv shows furthers the mythical nature around this place. Back in the 00s when Jamie was handing all of the food (rest in power, king) you could find yourself coming in midday for a tipple only to find FREE FOOD at 3pm with only a handful of people enjoying it. And I mean things like: Buffalo Wings, Swedish meatballs, lil smoked sausages.ah, but I wax nostalgic for too long. Here is the reality of Jamie's: almost everything is made from scratch, it's most likely the best pub food served in the tri county area, and has the best specials menu in the land. If you are not ordering from the specials menu only shown by the front door, you aren't doing Jamie's the right way. Their corned beef Reuben is arguably the best in the state. For a taste in nostalgia, their Chinese chicken salad and shrimp (or crab) Louis salad are both amazing when available . Not always available as this is what makes it all special. So many of their specials are worth getting. If your favorite isn't there, they will definitely have something for you. Get yourself a nice Guinness, maybe a smoked ribeye, look at their big ol Buffalo head hanging on the wall in the dining room, and make a night of it.

Is this place a "dive?" A bar with good food? There is definitely a bar to sit at, but also a section for those of us on a lunch break. There were definitely regulars, but a few newcomers such as myself. The menu is small...not necessarily a bad thing. A few sandwiches, appetizers, clam chowder, and a burger. They all sounded good. Then...the board. Rotating daily specials, from fish and chips to braised short ribs. It all sounded delicious. I went with a menu standard...a hot turkey sandwich. The potatoes stayed hot the whole lunch, and on the bread was an ample amount of turkey. I was quite happy with the portion. The actual turkey was not dry and tasted good on its own, but the gravy remained hot and delicious as well. The only cavaet....I hate when restaurants charge $4 for a soda. That being said, based on this quick lunch experience, I would definitely return to now try some of the rotating board specials.
