My husband and I came here for our Sunday date. I was craving pancakes and he was craving biscuits and gravy. He ordered the Truckers breakfast ( biscuits and gravy, eggs, country potatoes, and bacon) and I ordered a side of pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy, buttery, and the edges were crispy. Just the way I like them. The biscuits and gravy: the biscuits were not cooked all the way. They were a little gooey and they gravy was bland. We let the waitress know that the biscuits were not cooked all the way and she brought us out another batch. The second batch was better but the gravy was a little bland. Rolled into 49er Truck Stop at midnight, starving, running on fumes, and fully expecting slim pickings. What I got instead was a true 24/7 glorious pit stop. The chef/host/cashier/best bud greeted me with: "Order anything you like--the entire menu is available." And this is a BIG menu, people. I went with a club sandwich, which somehow turned out to be the best club sandwich I've ever had--fresh, generous, and clearly made with care. And the fries... oh my god. A mountain of fries, perfectly crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. The fries of your dreams. Bonus points for tons of ketchup and napkins in the bag. But the real win here was the human behind the counter. Just an incredibly kind guy, cooking real food with genuine care for weary travelers. No attitude. No rushing. We finally came and tried this place, and it was absolutely amazing. The food was incredibly delicious. The barbecue ribs melted right off the bone, and the meatloaf was so tender and bursting with flavor. They have some of the best cornbread I've ever had in California, it honestly reminded me of the cornbread I used to have in Hawaii. The coleslaw was delicious, and the barbecue baked beans were outstanding as well. The best part of our experience was Jennifer. She was amazing! Went there on a Friday late night munch. Probably got there at 11pm. It looked closed and it looked like nobody was working. Just one guy in the back cleaning. Took him 10 min to noticed us and he was the cashier and cook as well lol they were open and he took our orders and was very friendly! Food was quick too I wasn't expecting that. This is a cute diner near a truck stop and gas station . It seems to be a pitstop for truck drivers. Inside you order at the counter then they bring the food to you . At the counter they also have desserts on the right side . They show case some very delicious pies and cakes . I got the carrot cake and wow ! It was delicious. For food I got the western bacon burger with fries and a side of Mac and cheese . The Mac and cheese was not my favorite but the burger and fries were very good. We even got a side of onion rings with it. The onion rings were very crispy and good as well. The food definitely comes in big portions. The young man that helped us was very nice and attentive. Nice diner stop with Tesla charger. You order at the counter with open seating. There was a couple arcade games, son loved the pinball machine. Their fried foods was exceptional, fish was seasoned and battered well. Tator tots and fries had great texture and not oily. For me the bobtail burrito wasn't my personal taste, but my parents enjoyed it. The portions are large and good value. Staff was very friendly and food gets brought to your table after ordering. If I can give 0 stars ...Soooo...I don't put a lot of reviews but at 12:37am I am so angry that I have to say I came into the plaza to use the restroom and order food but got pushed away from the person at the cash register that was a Hispanic guy. I literally walked in to order and got turned away. I asked him isn't this open 24 hrs??? because he was catering to 3/4 guys maybe his friends and he told me yes but they are busy and that they are closed for a certain time! So as I was walking out he had the audacity to tell me to close the security doors! I replied back I don't work here why do I need to close your gate when I didn't open it?!!!! Which was some weird metal gates! And then him and his friends were speaking in their language laughing. So as I walked out he came and SLAMMED the gate shut! The cashier that was working in the gas station area heard everything and I had to ask her to clarify it and poor thing she said yes. I will be calling the business to speak to the manager tomorrow on duty, this was definitely not right! I used to love this diner but it definitely failed me!!! But we weren't in a hurry, so we stayed for two hours and was only able to finish half of each of our orders. I read that the place had been remodeled. The service at this area is really nice. We came here at 5am for breakfast and the convenience of it was great. I didn't even know this was here. It's a decent diner that serves hot food that is pretty good and has hospitable service. Breakfast is 24 hours and they have lunch/dinner options too. The waitress said they are short a cook so from 1230-5am they are closed for now. The tri tip omelet we had wasn't on the menu, so we ordered a tri tip breakfast and a side of veggies for $19+2.7 and the portion was great. I had the tri tip breakfast and it was a lot of food! Would recommend ! It isn't the fanciest and it isn't the finest cuisine, but I like it better than neighboring breakfast places for sure. More bang for your buck. read more

Pretty much serving a lot of fake food here...I have a pretty clean diet overall and if I eat something processed or with bad/questionable ingredients my body tells me...Well I got the tri-tip dinner with potato salad and baked beans...I thought it was supposed to come with cornbread but I got none....The tri-tip was ok (not great)...it didnt have much for smoke flavor at all...It was tender but it also had a decent amount of fat on it...You only get 3 pieces so after trimming the fat you aren't left with much meat....The bad was the potato salad and baked beans...I could tell that neither were homemade and they were probably loaded with chemicals/preservatives....Neither were really tasty at all....And, 6 hours later when I was trying to sleep I ended up having regurgitation and heartburn...The heartburn lasted me all night and keep me up....I also was having some cramps as well....I never have these issues with the food I make...No doubt it was their processed food they are selling....On top of it they have the audacity to charge like $23 for this plate ! What a rip off ! Oh, and I got a slice of chocolate pie (another rip off!)...It wasnt good either...A worker told me that they get them in frozen...So just more food that's processed somewhere else....What a sad excuse for a restaurant! read more

I'd probably rate this a four or 4.5, but my nostalgia for the old diner holds me back. While the diner looks great inside and out, we were surprised to learn we had to order at the cash register instead of from our seats. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, along with pancakes--something I usually skip. Unfortunately, the biscuits and gravy weren't great, carols makes the most amazing biscuits and gravy, but the pancakes were the best I've ever had; I'd definitely return for them. After leaving a late night concert we were hungry and decided to stop at the 49er Diner on our way home. Who doesn't love a good 24 hour diner! We arrived at about 11:45pm, the main entrance was closed but we were able to enter through the adjoining gas station. When you walk in you go to the counter where the menu is located on the wall (there are reg menus too). Once you decide what you're going to enjoy as your meal you proceed to the register and order. We were greeted with a genuine smile and our questions were answered without any judgement. For our late night eats we ordered a chili cheese burger and a club sandwich with a side salad and tater tots. Like I said we were hungry so no food pics lol. The burger was yummy, could have used a bit more chili but still good. The club sandwich was exactly what you expect from a club sandwich. The tots were freshly cooked, hot and crispy. So I purchased a shower for one hour. At the 22 minute mark a lady knocked in the door saying just checking.i replied "I'm 22 minutes in". So I called the front and advised the staff some just knocked and I'm 22 minutes in. I then started hearing over the walkie, shower 1 is complaining and mark times for showers. Also, to top that the man who let me in the shower came near my door with the lady who knocked and asked her did she knock which she did answer. He then said " don't worry about people like that because they are crying babies". When I did exit the shower I informed the manager Tammy and she was had a nasty attitude and cut me off as I tried to express my comment about the experience. She then goes to tell me that it wasn't marked for my shower. I let her know that's not my job, I'm out in less than a hour (50 minutes) and I just didn't appreciate whoever coming to my shower door to call me a cry baby for complaining. She basically looked at me crazy. I thanked her and walked away. This is my third toxic experience with 49er. I only use this place when absolutely necessary. Avoid this place if you can, staff and manager treat customers badly. read more

JR was running the front of the house like a pro--taking orders, working the cash register, and delivering food with impressive efficiency. I stopped and parked here for the night, expecting to door-dash food or eat at the standard truck stop fast food restaurant. There is a Black Bear Diner across the street, but I saw this place first and decided to give it a try. You order your food and pay at the counter, where they have some desserts on display for purchase. After you pay, you are handed a tray and told to sit anywhere. The patrons are primarily truckers seeking refuge from their trucks while working on laptops, reading, and talking on their phones. There is enough space to choose the perfect seat, with plenty of comfortable booths. My food was out within 10 minutes, and I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance and quality of the arrangement. It tasted as good as it looked, and I would come back here to eat if ever in the area gain. Note of caution: the area draws in local, opportunistic vagrants. Keep aware of your belongings, lock your vehicle, and don't get sucked into interactions with them. One tried to "borrow" my phone to call a bank in Idaho...uh, no. read more

When imaging a trucker diner - some things seem natural: servers bringing food, reasonable prices for hardworking diners, and a certain welcoming environment.
