    Peach bread pudding
    Silen B.

We came here for our anniversary dinner and everything was great! Staff were super friendly. They made us a super cute anniversary sign for our table too, which was very sweet. Our waitress, Kaytlin, was great. She was nice and attentive. The restaurant is chic and romantic. Other than it being on the louder side, the decor is warm with more dim lighting. What I also noticed and really appreciated is that the tables were spacious and placed farther apart from each other, so you're not crammed with other people. My only complaint is location is on K St, which is hard to find parking and there is no valet. The food was great (details below) and we definitely plan to be back. Also, scallops on the menu would be amazing because that's my favorite entre to get when I eat out. I hope they add it! Focaccia bread with cherry compote: (5/5). So good! This came as a compliment from the chef and it was delicious. The bread was soft and warm. The toppings paired so well with it. They have just the focaccia bread on the menu, which I'm sure is great. If they add it with the toppings we would have ordered more. lol Zero proof strawberry daiquiri: (5/5) very good and had a nice strawberry flavor. It is on the sweeter side but I enjoyed it Pork belly: (5/5) also so good! I love pork belly and order it all the time. The pork belly was nice and tender. The glaze/sauce had a nice sweetness to it and the veggies complimented it very well. One of the best pork bellies I've had! Braised short ribs: (5/5) very good and what you expect from short ribs. The short ribs were nice and tender. It came in multiple pieces so easier to cut and eat. The sauce is on the lighter side, letting the meat flavor shine through. The mash and veggies were good as well Salmon: (3.5-4/5). Salmon was cooked well. The seasoning was more plain like a dry rub? I would have liked a glaze or something. It was decent though. Smashed crispy potatoes: (5/5) very good! They were hot and crispy. Had good seasoning. Pairs well with a lot of dishes Peach bread pudding: (4.5/5): overall quite good. Bread pudding is one of my favorite desserts. This bread pudding was soft and warm with a slightly crunchy topping from oats? It wasn't too sweet and I really liked the fresh peaches on top.

I was visiting the area and I made a reservation to this spot. I heard great things about it and wanted to try it out. I really like our server a lot, she was very energetic and gave great recommendations for the dishes. I also like the vibes of the restaurant and it is very spacious. However I was a little disappointed with the food. The artichoke dip with the chips were very underwhelming. The chips were stale and hard and the dip was bland. They offered to remake it and the dip was much better but the chips were worse than the first time. It time round, the chips were hard to even bite on some. On the bright side, they had their special -- duck dish and that was outstanding. I love every part of the dish. We also had the ribs and they were good but a little rich.

So I took myself on a date here and it was my 2nd time trying this place out. The first time didn't disappoint and this time didn't either. From the hostess, to waiter and management the customer service was great. I'm an old fashioned type of girl and I I enjoyed a drink or 2 or 3. So good. I went back because I was not only looking forward to trying something new but also the atmosphere is a vibe in itself and super intimate and chill. Here are some pics. I also had the melt in your mouth lobster ravioli but I devoured it before I could even get a picture.

It was such a nice treat my boyfriend for his birrhday! Staff were so nice and brought out a celebration ice cream plate and a candle! It was also busy during dinner, but the staff were attentive and quick! There was also music and basketball games playing in the background, but not overwhelming :) We ordered new york steak, ribeye, smashed potatoes, and mac&cheese. It was 10/10! I recommend adding the garlic butter on top of the steak. So delicious!

Absolutely fell in love with this steakhouse. I came here with a couple friends for a nice dinner and was absolutely blown away. First the atmosphere is incredible dim lights, colorful it feels like an amazing fine dining experience. We tried out a couple of the menu items and none of them disappointed. The oysters were so fresh buttery, and that hint of lemon really sealed it all. The steaks were beautifully cooked, a perfect medium rare so Juicery it was just melt in your mouth. Goodness, I found to be perfectly seasoned. The drinks were also a whole experience. They were colorful, so beautiful to look at and tasted perfectly. Definitely got tipsy, but did not taste it at all, which was perfect for me. All in all would definitely be coming back here again.

Lamb chops for dine downtown 2025

Went here for the second year in a row for their dine downtown menu. This was my top/most favorite place I tried last year and this year is still the same. We were recommended to make reservations for lunch so I did on a Thursday. It was not busy when we got here for lunch, so it was great. The place looks huge when it's empty and it was nice and quiet for lunch. My coworkers and I all opted for the DD menu. We all got the steak bites appetizers to start, and they got the steak entree while I did butter chicken for variety and so we can all try the full menu. I preferred the steak over the chicken, but the chicken was not bad at all. In fact, it was really juicy and moist, but the steak had more flavor. For dessert, I got the orange Pana Cotta and the coworker got the bread pudding. Both were really good, but I liked the Panna Cotta more. Our server was great and attentive as well. We had a choice of still or sparkling water and we all opted for sparkling. Her recommendation for the DD menu was spot on. Great place and great service. Food is excellent as always.

Met friends here for Dine Downtown and sat at the bar for happy hour while we waited. Happy Hour is only served at the bar fortunately there are two bars lol. Although there isn't a huge selection if food or drinks we had the sliders $12 a Nitty's Cider $5 and house wine $7. They were out of house wine so we had Doua which I s normally $15 per glass. Our bartender was friendly and informative. We moved to our table for dinner where Daniel provided excellent service. Between the four of us we sampled everything on the Dine Downtown menu and everything was good. The flank steak was a large portion and surprisingly tender. The cranberry bread pudding was favored over the panna cotta and the appetizers were a toss up. I would really like to come back and try the house burger which sounds delicious for $22. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and the DD menu was delicious and affordable.

I 100% enjoyed my meal and my experience at Butcher & barrel. Firstly we had a reservation for 8:15 and unfortunately i was the only person on time, the rest of my party strolled in about 20-30 minutes after me but the host and waitress were all so accommodating and did not have any issue with that at all! The host allowed me to sit at the table they had ready for us and wait for my party. The waitress asked did i want to order drinks or wait for the rest of my party. I ended up just getting water and waiting for the rest of my party. When everyone got there it took about 10 minutes for everyone to figure out what they wanted to eat, and what drinks we wanted, the waitress came to take our order. She was so lively and friendly. She Explained the menu & the questions that we had (which were a lot haha) & never seemed annoyed or bothered. It was about a party of six of us and everyone said she was such a good waitress.. we ordered a little bit of everything we got a steak. A margarita. We had some fries, the spinach dip, I got a tequila flight with additive free tequila. I did want to mention that they carry a lot of additive free alcohol, which I definitely appreciated. Wr also got a salmon plate with mashed potatoes on the side. My grandma was even able to get some hot tea. My dad who is a steak connoisseur said this was one of the best steaks he had in Sacramento. It was seasoned so well and cooked perfectly exactly how he asked, which was medium rare the salmon was just as good, It was flavored so perfectly. It tasted like it just came out of a home cooked kitchen. The chef actually ended up coming from the back and shaking all of our hands and thanking us for dining he also sent out a plate of focaccia bread with mushrooms and some type of gravy sauce on top, which was so divine. The whole staff at Butcher and barrel were so welcoming and nice so I just wanna say good job on that when you can dine somewhere and the food and the service is top-tier that's a place you will go back again. Also, I love the vibe of the place. It gives a really cute laid-back type of ambience, but goes along with where they have the restaurant placed in downtown Sacramento. I feel like the prices were on par with what you will find at this level of a restaurant for everything that we got. There was 6 of us which included alcohol the bill came out to $530 plus tip so we ended up spending around 600 and something dollars total and everyone was happy with that. We will definitely be back here. Good job butcher and barrel.

Filet with Peppercorn Sauce and Smashed Potatoes

Had a reservation for a Saturday night, it was busy! My steak was SO good. Melt in your mouth. Cooked to a perfect medium. The peppercorn sauce was very good. And the shamshed potatoes were simple, yet flavorful. I was thinking about that steak for the next couple of days. Whenever I'm back in SAC, I would definitely come back here. My coworker that I was with got some kind of fancy burger, but after he saw my steak, he said, "I should have ordered that." ha -- although, he was very happy with his burger, too.

This was my 44th birthday dinner and I loved it! The atmosphere can be dressed up or down and you will comfortable either way. Make sure to have a resy or you will have a wait or have to eat at the bar. We started with apps and drinks. My fireside margarita was so good and I'm not a drinker. We got the fried burrata with focaccia and it was delish!! My husband got a BMB Old Fashioned and the pour was generous. The chef gave us a mushroom focaccia app and it was so good! For entrees we got the New York strip, 14oz ribeye and the lamb chops. As sides we got mashed potatoes, smashed potatoes and button mushrooms. The potatoes were ok but those mushrooms they were amazing! I could eat them everyday! They gave me a sparkler and sorbet for dessert. Dinner really wasn't too expensive either! We will be back!! Thanks for an awesome birthday dinner!!

This was a great experience- we came for the $45 fixed menu (appetizer, entree, dessert). Sacramento dine week. I'm so happy we chose butcher and barrel- the waiters and staff were all very kind and the food was good I ordered the acorn squash soup and WOW!! That alone was so delicious. Then we ordered the steak which was really well done, but the sauce was extremely overwhelming (picture 2) and spicy. I then asked for a template (picture 1) and it was better The tiramisu dessert was not good honestly... very dry , the other desserts were sold out so that was the only option 3.5/5

This is my first classic martini (unlike lychee martinis I've had before at other places). My server asked how I like it, with olive juice or with lemon twist or another option I don't remember. To be honest I don't know how I like it because it's is my first classic martini. So I was honest with him. I said I'll do whatever you recommend because I wanted to try a classic martini cuz I've been watching Gossip Girl. I felt silly admitting I wanted a martini because of a tv show. But my server actually did his research and found that Blair (a main character in the show) likes her martini with a lemon twist. And that is the martini I got. He brought frozen glass and poured the drink on the spot. It was such a vibe and a great drink. For food I got the grilled prawns. This dish is delicious and goes so well with my martini! For my second drink I got the shiso fresh. I was debating between two drinks and asked my server for suggestions. He is absolutely right with this recommendation. I opted for the Kumquat Kiss, which was delicious and different. Besides that Old Fashioned, the Hash Brown Lyonnaise really stole the show. Pillow-light hash brown sticks (how did they do that?!) with a scrumptious onion dip with crispy shallots and finely chopped chives. This is one of my top happy hour dishes of the year. Just wow! Try it yourself and tell me you don't agree. The Grilled Prawns missed the mark for me a bit, although the husband liked them. Tasty, but just not as much of a star as the other dish. Only suggestion is to have a happy hour menu for bites as well as beverages, as is found on the website. This would help avoid the need for staff to present a dinner menu (which admittedly, I was confused by) and acknowledge that the first course options are all available but at no happy hour discount (which felt a bit awkward for all involved). Overall, a delightful discovery!

Wouldn't want to go on a regular basis, but something different to do with friends. Not a place to take children, dark inside. But excellent date night. We are going back for the jazz they have on Friday and Saturday nights. Excellent bar!

I'm going to enter their first annual steak cooking contest! I think I have a good chance. Well, actually a GREAT chance!! SERVICE The staff is top notch. They are great at explaining the experience, food items and cocktails. They ask what you like and what you don't like and then make informed recommendations drawing on their experience and expertise. DECOR Dark, soft and cozy. Great 70's music playing. Not too loud currently. A nice chill vibe. Live music on certain nights of the week. Take a chance and come in to find out when and enjoy! CLEANLINESS Always clean! I have never experienced otherwise. They have pride in all that they do and it shows! LOCATION In the heart of Sacramento. Good street parking. A nice location! PRICE All in all, respectable. Comparatively speaking in our current financial climate, they are priced great! OVERALL EXPERIENCE Always enjoy coming back. I come alone, with another person, or a booger group. All are great experiences!

Im a bit disappointed in the happy hour food…read more I've been here several times for their drinks, but something just didn't click in my most recent visit. I came here for happy hour and ordered a handful of their items. Chicken Lumpia - over all I was pleased with how piping hot, fresh out the fryer it was. A bit thin for my linking but I appreciated there were 6 pieces. The sauce did not pair well. There was something off about it that isn't your typical sweet and sour; maybe the sauce was made in house. Sisig fries - decent portion of fries but fell short on the pork. Lacked an egg and didn't really meet the sisig flavors that I'm used to. You can definitely taste the zestiness of the lemon - nice touch, but other than that it's just fries with pork, red onion and green onion garnish. Hot dog - a $9 happy hour hot dog was the biggest disappointment. Sure the bread texture was good, toasted with a nice chew, but that was it. The dog itself was charged to my linking but it really didn't feel worth the money spent for its portion. Fries - 100% would get again. Cauliflower bites - I liked this too, flavor was good but such a small portion our table has to order two. Similar to the hotdog, not sure if it's worth the spend for the portion size. Despite the food not satisfying my cravings, the service was great. The young lady was helpful and was working hard taking orders, making drinks and delivering the food. The place was pretty busy at least the indoor area. Plenty of seating outside, but in this heat not sure if it's a good idea. Didn't see any misters but would be a nice touch to draw in more folks. Side note: some of the cocktails are premade, and can be overly sweet.
