It was such a nice treat my boyfriend for his birrhday! Staff were so nice and brought out a celebration ice cream plate and a candle! It was also busy during dinner, but the staff were attentive and quick! There was also music and basketball games playing in the background, but not overwhelming :) We ordered new york steak, ribeye, smashed potatoes, and mac&cheese. It was 10/10! I recommend adding the garlic butter on top of the steak. So delicious!

Great atmosphere and service! We booked this restaurant for a date night and it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted with a cute sign that said "date night done right", treated with complimentary bites of their bread with cherry compote and had a wonderful waitress (blonde, can't remember her name, but she was great). Would definitely recommend and go again!

Absolutely fell in love with this steakhouse. I came here with a couple friends for a nice dinner and was absolutely blown away. First the atmosphere is incredible dim lights, colorful it feels like an amazing fine dining experience. We tried out a couple of the menu items and none of them disappointed. The oysters were so fresh buttery, and that hint of lemon really sealed it all. The steaks were beautifully cooked, a perfect medium rare so Juicery it was just melt in your mouth. Goodness, I found to be perfectly seasoned. The drinks were also a whole experience. They were colorful, so beautiful to look at and tasted perfectly. Definitely got tipsy, but did not taste it at all, which was perfect for me. All in all would definitely be coming back here again.

This was a 10/10 experience. Perfect place for a nice steak dinner. First of the service was excellent. The lighting in the restaurant is perfect for a cute little date, especially with the light at your table. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The bread was super soft and buttery. The sides were the weakest part of the dinner, but still excellent. The potatoes were crispy yet soft on the inside. The Mac and cheese was creamy, but just okay flavor.

Went here for the second year in a row for their dine downtown menu. This was my top/most favorite place I tried last year and this year is still the same. We were recommended to make reservations for lunch so I did on a Thursday. It was not busy when we got here for lunch, so it was great. The place looks huge when it's empty and it was nice and quiet for lunch. My coworkers and I all opted for the DD menu. We all got the steak bites appetizers to start, and they got the steak entree while I did butter chicken for variety and so we can all try the full menu. I preferred the steak over the chicken, but the chicken was not bad at all. In fact, it was really juicy and moist, but the steak had more flavor. For dessert, I got the orange Pana Cotta and the coworker got the bread pudding. Both were really good, but I liked the Panna Cotta more. Our server was great and attentive as well. We had a choice of still or sparkling water and we all opted for sparkling. Her recommendation for the DD menu was spot on. Great place and great service. Food is excellent as always.

I 100% enjoyed my meal and my experience at Butcher & barrel. Firstly we had a reservation for 8:15 and unfortunately i was the only person on time, the rest of my party strolled in about 20-30 minutes after me but the host and waitress were all so accommodating and did not have any issue with that at all! The host allowed me to sit at the table they had ready for us and wait for my party. The waitress asked did i want to order drinks or wait for the rest of my party. I ended up just getting water and waiting for the rest of my party. When everyone got there it took about 10 minutes for everyone to figure out what they wanted to eat, and what drinks we wanted, the waitress came to take our order. She was so lively and friendly. She Explained the menu & the questions that we had (which were a lot haha) & never seemed annoyed or bothered. It was about a party of six of us and everyone said she was such a good waitress.. we ordered a little bit of everything we got a steak. A margarita. We had some fries, the spinach dip, I got a tequila flight with additive free tequila. I did want to mention that they carry a lot of additive free alcohol, which I definitely appreciated. Wr also got a salmon plate with mashed potatoes on the side. My grandma was even able to get some hot tea. My dad who is a steak connoisseur said this was one of the best steaks he had in Sacramento. It was seasoned so well and cooked perfectly exactly how he asked, which was medium rare the salmon was just as good, It was flavored so perfectly. It tasted like it just came out of a home cooked kitchen. The chef actually ended up coming from the back and shaking all of our hands and thanking us for dining he also sent out a plate of focaccia bread with mushrooms and some type of gravy sauce on top, which was so divine. The whole staff at Butcher and barrel were so welcoming and nice so I just wanna say good job on that when you can dine somewhere and the food and the service is top-tier that's a place you will go back again. Also, I love the vibe of the place. It gives a really cute laid-back type of ambience, but goes along with where they have the restaurant placed in downtown Sacramento. I feel like the prices were on par with what you will find at this level of a restaurant for everything that we got. There was 6 of us which included alcohol the bill came out to $530 plus tip so we ended up spending around 600 and something dollars total and everyone was happy with that. We will definitely be back here. Good job butcher and barrel.

Met friends here for Dine Downtown and sat at the bar for happy hour while we waited. Happy Hour is only served at the bar fortunately there are two bars lol. Although there isn't a huge selection if food or drinks we had the sliders $12 a Nitty's Cider $5 and house wine $7. They were out of house wine so we had Doua which I s normally $15 per glass. Our bartender was friendly and informative. We moved to our table for dinner where Daniel provided excellent service. Between the four of us we sampled everything on the Dine Downtown menu and everything was good. The flank steak was a large portion and surprisingly tender. The cranberry bread pudding was favored over the panna cotta and the appetizers were a toss up. I would really like to come back and try the house burger which sounds delicious for $22. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and the DD menu was delicious and affordable.

Had a reservation for a Saturday night, it was busy! My steak was SO good. Melt in your mouth. Cooked to a perfect medium. The peppercorn sauce was very good. And the shamshed potatoes were simple, yet flavorful. I was thinking about that steak for the next couple of days. Whenever I'm back in SAC, I would definitely come back here. My coworker that I was with got some kind of fancy burger, but after he saw my steak, he said, "I should have ordered that." ha -- although, he was very happy with his burger, too.

The BB burger was off the Hook !!!! Best burger I've ever had. Added bacon. The marmalade was amazing. They should sell it ! Service was spectacular. Cocktails were tasty. For the virgin cocktails, Wife had a na white linen. Many great options for the DD's and ones who cannot do alcohol. Highly recommend Butcher and Barrel. Do not pass it up when in Sacramento

This was my 44th birthday dinner and I loved it! The atmosphere can be dressed up or down and you will comfortable either way. Make sure to have a resy or you will have a wait or have to eat at the bar. We started with apps and drinks. My fireside margarita was so good and I'm not a drinker. We got the fried burrata with focaccia and it was delish!! My husband got a BMB Old Fashioned and the pour was generous. The chef gave us a mushroom focaccia app and it was so good! For entrees we got the New York strip, 14oz ribeye and the lamb chops. As sides we got mashed potatoes, smashed potatoes and button mushrooms. The potatoes were ok but those mushrooms they were amazing! I could eat them everyday! They gave me a sparkler and sorbet for dessert. Dinner really wasn't too expensive either! We will be back!! Thanks for an awesome birthday dinner!!

This was a great experience- we came for the $45 fixed menu (appetizer, entree, dessert). Sacramento dine week. I'm so happy we chose butcher and barrel- the waiters and staff were all very kind and the food was good I ordered the acorn squash soup and WOW!! That alone was so delicious. Then we ordered the steak which was really well done, but the sauce was extremely overwhelming (picture 2) and spicy. I then asked for a template (picture 1) and it was better The tiramisu dessert was not good honestly... very dry , the other desserts were sold out so that was the only option 3.5/5

Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.

The bartenders were friendly and quick with getting our drinks out. Overall the space is well lit and beautiful. Next time I will have to try to sit out in patio.

There is only street parking so it can be difficult to park and the restaurant does not have a parking lot. My friend wanted to try the matcha waffles so went to try it on a Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty crowded inside and all the seats were taken. They did have a good amount of outdoor seating which consisted of picnic tables for larger parties. It was overcast and cold so we were looking it for indoor seating but we ended up sitting outside. You go to the bar inside to order and then you are given a number and then a server brings your food out to your table. I went with 2 friends so I saved our table for us so it wouldn't get taken while they went to order for me. I ordered the short stack ube mochi pancakes which was only $6 for 2 pancakes which was so cheap! I was shocked at the price! If you want the full stack it is $12 which is still such a great deal. The pancakes came with strawberry and pineapple fruit topping, coconut shavings, and caramelized condensed milk syrup. The pancakes were chewy and soft and not too sweet and had good ube flavor. My fellow elite Yelp friend ordered the matcha waffles which was a large portion but she said the waffles lacked strong matcha flavor. I looked at the rest of their menu and wanted to try their savory Filipino dishes such as the loco moco. Overall, the ube pancakes are delicious and such a great deal! I want to go back to try the rest of their savory Filipino dishes next time!
