This is a little pizzeria a few blocks away from the cruise docks (which is a bonus because the restaurants near the docks can get packed). We walked right in and were.seated right away. They have the standard Italian fare (pizzas, pastas), but they also have a large selection of Filipino entrees and daily specials. Service was fast and friendly. We came here thinking we were going to have Italian and/or Mexican food but oh myyyyy, we were surprised to find Filipino food in the menu! Of course after a few days being on a cruise without eating Filipino food, most of us opted to order just that. Most of us enjoyed the pork sinigang. One thing about me is that I very seldom eat pork but this was definitely worth it. Love that they added a bunch of cabbage in it and the soup not too greasy. The lady who helped us was very friendly and helped a party of 12 promptly. We were seated immediately; so glad we beat the crowd because it got so busy after. This was one of the only places by the port without a visible line going out the door. We ate here because we had limited time before our excursion. There was plenty of seating, though only a few tables were being occupied. Service was very slow, but not unfriendly. The food itself did not take long to come out, but our time was extended due to waiting to order with a server & waiting for our check. After a day if adventure through the area we headed back towards town to try out Northern Lights Pizzeria. We had been there earlier in the day, but the cruise ship foot traffic made the entire area a madhouse. I highly recommend closer to boarding time to stop by. We walked in to a completely empty place. A few locals came in picking up orders and such, but we had the place to ourselves . We decided to order the house pizza, salad as well as fish and chips. Service was very slow at first even with us in there alone, but he was a great kid, friendly and brought us all we needed. Our food came out quick and tasted great. **A Nightmare in Skagway - Beware of Local Threats!** Our family was on a much-anticipated Disney cruise, and our first stop was Skagway. After a morning of exploring, we were excited to try the Northern Lights Restaurant, a spot that came highly recommended for its authentic Filipino cuisine. The food did not disappoint--both the Longsilog and Adobosilog were delicious, if a bit pricey at $27.99. I was ready to give this place a glowing 5-star review. But what happened outside the restaurant turned our visit into a terrifying experience that overshadowed everything else. As we waited in line to be seated, our group--a mix of Filipino, Chinese, and Caucasian, including four 7-year-old boys--was just trying to enjoy the day. The line was long, spilling out the door, and our kids were playing nearby, just being kids. Then, out of nowhere, a local man, clearly agitated, accused our kids of touching him inappropriately. We were shocked but immediately apologized, thinking it would diffuse the situation. Instead, things took a dark turn. The man, seething with rage, demanded, "Do you know where you are? Do you know who I am?" His tone was unmistakably racist, targeting my wife, who is Chinese, with disdain and threatening remarks. He seemed to assume we were tourists from Asia, and he began speaking down to her in a way that made my blood boil. Then, he did something that no one should have to deal with--he showed us the knife tucked into his belt, clearly trying to intimidate us. My protective instincts kicked in, and I confronted him, suggesting we take the issue outside so as not to cause a scene inside the restaurant. As things escalated, he started shouting that this was "his town," while the waitress desperately tried to pull him back inside. It was a terrifying moment, one that no visitor should ever have to experience, especially in a town that relies so heavily on tourism. With four cruise ships docked that day, Skagway should have been bustling with positivity. Instead, this one local resident managed to ruin not just our day, but potentially the reputation of the entire town. My advice? Enjoy the food at Northern Lights, but stay alert--Skagway may not be as welcoming as it seems. Would be interesting how Skagway Chamber of commerce would follow up on this read more

I come from a city of great pizzas, but I must say that Northern Lights puts out a very righteous pie! Great crust, generous toppings, and close proximity to the cruise ships. Not inexpensive, but not out of line with Alaska prices. read more

Let me start with the good. We were greeted immediately upon entering and received friendly service throughout our time at this establishment. The restaurant itself was clean albeit quite dated and rather plain. The food itself is pretty basic, not bad, just not at all exciting. The menu is massive and frankly this is a place that is just trying to do too much. It's a pizzeria, and Italian eatery, AND a Mexican food place? Come on! Do one thing and do it well please. The Fettuccine Alfredo lacked flavor and my daughters burrito was buried under so much stuff she could barely get to it. And the real downside is the price. This place is waaaay overpriced for the quality of food. You do get really large portions but that still doesn't justify a $26 burrito plate. read more

The other places in town were quite crowded and we were on the hunt for fish and chips. We had a party of 7 and were seated right away, as this place was slightly off the beaten path and looks unassuming but serviceable. For comparison, there was a minimum of a 45 minute wait at the "popular" place in town on the Main Street. Plenty of locals were eating here. The menu has a big variety of Mexican, Italian, and Filipino food. One of our group got the pizza, someone else got tacos, and the rest of us got the fish and chips. They had a combination platter for the fish and chips which included salmon, rock fish and halibut along with some zesty tartar sauce. We also ordered onion rings as an appetizer for the table. It all tasted good and fresh. Service was prompt and thorough, but not overly friendly. After we finished, we stopped by Klondike Doughboy, a few doors down for some dessert. When the restaurant you enter has a huge sign in front that says "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason", it's a huge red flag that customer service is not their forte. The era of the gold rush is over, and the people working at this establishment need to realize that their entire livelihoods depend on customer service because without the cruise ships stopping in Skagway, this would be a ghost town in no time. Especially given that the cruise ships for the most part make sure we are pampered during our entire trip, so Skagway locales need to keep up. That being said, we stopped here because the sign outside advertised various types of fish and chips, as well as a clam chowder that wasn't in the menu. A clam chowder sounded good so we walked in. The waitress that sat us was awkward, but no big deal. The bald male waiter with the funky little goatee was pissy and moody the whole time we interacted. We were respectful and asked for something to drink and a clam chowder. He was inattentive, curt, and plainly a total prick. Never thanked us for our business, never checked to see if the food was ok, never showed a sign he gave a damn. The crowder was terrible. It tasted like canned mushroom soup with chunks of fish. It was thick like glue and tasted like processed food. The bowl was $15 and not worth it. My friend added a top to the bill but had I been the one paying I would have left a big fat 0 on the tip line. A total disgrace of customer service and food quality. Stay away. read more

After the "Musher's camp and Sled Dog Experience" shore excursion, (Amazing!!!), and the brothel tour at the Red Onion, (also very interesting), I was ready for lunch. I was walking around, and on their board in front of the restaurant, they were advertising "Salmon and chips." I decided to give it a try. The chips were just OK, but the salmon was battered and fried. Not just battered and fried, but *OVERLY* battered and then fried. You don't batter and fry salmon. I could barely taste the salmon. It was almost all batter. Lunch and a soda, and I was out the door like $35 poorer. I don't know about the other items on the menu, but stay away from the salmon and chips. I really wanted to like this place because it's local, but unfortunately the food was bland and the service wasn't much better. It was 11am and we only had an hour between when restaurants opened and our cruise/land transfer departure so definitely no excuses as the business knows it's a cruise transfer today (as are most days in Skagway during the summer). We ordered the Northern Lights large pizza. While I love cheese, there was so much on this pizza that you couldn't taste any of the other toppings. You can barely see any mushrooms in this pic. Also, we had to use napkins to soak up the oil. Mom doesn't complain very often, but she let me know that her fish & chips didn't hit the spot. Not sure where the exact problem was but it was soggy. When you expect crunch as you bite into the fish, you got nothing. Milk - we were charged $3.95 for a glass of milk. On our Alaskan cruise we bumped into this quaint little place and was pleasantly surprised. At first the notion of Mexican and Italian food didn't really thrill me or my wife. But we were both hungry and decided to take a chance. Our minds were put at ease when we saw a crew member and the cruise director eating there. So my wife and i had some nachos with jalapeños and tomatoes. Best part was they used real cheese and not that canned garbage you usually get. Portion was good enough for me 2 of us topped with sliced jalapeños and diced tomatoes. We both ordered the halibut and chips(fries). Both were amazingly good. The batter on the fish was not overwhelmingly thick. The fish was fresh and flaky withe a tasty tartar sauce infused with dill. The fries were hot and crisp, almost perfect. Great food!!! I had the spaghetti which was great. The sauce was a sweet sauce. Their garlic bread has plenty of butter on it and it was loaded with cheese. It was awesome. My husband just had noodles with a butter and sautéed garlic sauce. He loved it. My son had the spaghetti in a lemony garlic sauce with halibut and salmon. He thought it was very good. I came here for dinner on my first trip to Alaska in 2016. I liked it so much that I remembered the name so I could come back once again. Well worth the money paid for dinner!!! Very busy place. Front desk gentleman said to take a seat anywhere we wanted. Only 2 tables open. One was dirty and one was clean but sat 6 people. There were only 4 of us so we sat in the dirty booth thinking someone with a larger party could take the bigger table. Server came over to the table and stood with her arms crossed. After standing there for a good 30 seconds she said "well did you want the table cleaned or what?" We decided she really didn't want to serve us so we got up and left and she grabbed the menus angrily and said maybe you shouldn't be so rude". We really were not trying to be rude at all. For Skagway, there wasn't much to choose from, but we saw that the reviews for this Pizzeria was pretty good. I thought the food was actually very good, and I really wanted to have an authentic taste of salmon by the locals. BIG WARNING THOU (see below)!!! The food was pretty amazing here. We ordered some spaghetti which was pretty good but not memorable to crave. However, we also ordered the salmon and the salmon was amazing there. The fish was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. (It would have been a disgrace otherwise for a restaurant in that location to not be able to cook salmon correctly.) Over food was a 4/5. (Salmon would've been a 5/5.) It think most of the issue came with the service. It started off very courteous with the waitress. She did a great job taking our orders and bringing our food out. Here is where I should warn all future customers. The restaurant has a weird and small print on their menu where they state that they "might" charge a 18% gratuity. My family obviously missed that, so when we brought up the weird charge, the waitress did a complete 180. Her explanation to us was rude and she made it seems that we were stupid for not pay attention. She stated that the restaurant was part of the cruise (which is obviously is not true) and therefore, they can automatically put in a 18% gratuity like the cruise. We left complexed with that explanation. Mind you we were a party of 4 and we literally order two 2-3 plates of food with water. We were super uncomfortable with the way we were treated and the explanation to the charge. We review the menu and noticed the cryptic "might charge 18%." We walked around and noticed other restaurants didn't have the same mindset or the same rule. It started to seemed super discriminatory. Like they can charge 18% to whoever. Eventually, my aunt decided to go back and confront the waitress. This time the waitress was just disrespectful and just did not even want to deal with us. All we wanted was to ask her for a better explanation. Instead, she didn't let my aunt talk, and just pulled tip money from the cash register and shoved it back at my aunt. I don't think this is an issue with restaurant's food, but the service itself. The food was pretty good and a great way to try the local's salmon. However, the service was just off. It does not seem like this happened to just my family either. The only reason I would put a poor review (which I generally don't do) is that I hope the restaurant will notice and will take the necessary action to make sure that future customers have a better experience. read more

This pizzeria is awesome!!! The cheese garlic bread is a must. A pitcher of light beer from Alaska brewing co. with our pepperoni pizza hit the spot. We also got the nachos and those were awesome! This is a must if you stop at Skagway, AK. The ambiance is relaxed and the bathrooms are very clean. Our server Leona took great care of us. If she is representative of the good people of Alaska then then they are amazing people. We had a great experience and our meal was great. Everyone should stop in!!! read more

We seated ourselves the waitress came over she was about 40 dark hair and obviously annoyed we were interrupting her day. The place was maybe 1/8 full of customers. We order some fried seafood and a burger and appetizers. The appetizers never came then our food was ready first. Although we sat at the front of the restaurant our waitress was heard screaming where were her appetizers! She continued to yell and scream at whomever was cooking .. just lovely made us very uncomfortable So an even longer wait .. finally the appetizer came it was okay .. then lunch 3 min later . The seafood looked like it had been refried because it was soaking with grease and hard as a rock .. when I opened the shrimp it had a bad seafood smell. My moms hamburger tasted like they went to Costco and bought the meat in a plastic cylinder. Our server came back much later asked why we didn't eat it .. she yelled at me that the food was fresh . This is one of my all time, absolute favorite restaurants! My family and I (we have 4 kids) eat there at least once a week. Our go to's are the chicken Parmesan (their sauce is robust with a hint of sweetness, very, very good!), the beef nachos supreme (order a side of salsa it's my second favorite salsa anywhere!) and we of course LOVE their pizza! They make an excellent crust! We usually get a ham (Canadian bacon) with tomato pizza. The ham is thick and juicy. We love the service! They put up balloons for my daughters 8th birthday and treated us to worlds largest brownie banana split (not on the menu). The brownies are very thick, chewy and chocolatey!!!! read more

We came here because a recommendation from our tour guide in Skagway. We wanted to try the best crab legs the city had to offer and he told us to come here. I was a bit hesitant at first since it's a pizzeria but I decided to give it a shot. We ordered the calamari (another recommendation from the tour guide) and the king crab leg. The both were the best I've ever had! The calamari was nothing like I've ever had before. Each bite was more delicious than the last. The crab leg was a pound of yumminess. I tried it with the butter and definitely liked it without. I got so full off the crab leg that I couldn't help my husband finish the calamari. The crab leg also came with a side. We chose to try the spaghetti, which was another meal in itself. My husband ate it (I was too full to even try it after the crab) and he said it was mediocre. I am only giving this place 5 stars based on the 2 food items we came there for. The waiter was also very nice and attentive. We were delighted to have excellent service and patience from the staff for our troublesome toddler. We ordered our pizza with alfredo sauce, the way we love it and it did not disappoint.
