Yes to the Riesling! Yes to the smoked cheddar cheese! A cute before dinner spot in Lafayette Square.

This is such a great spot located in Lafayette Square. I am almost afraid to tell too many people about it because it's actually IMHO, the best kept secret for a Happy Hour or date night in the area! My friends and I went for a HH one day a few weeks ago and were able to get a nice spot on their patio. Speaking of, their patio is awesome and so tranquil and tucked away for privacy. I loved it! The menu is located online and you have to oder at the bar for drinks and snacks. We looked at the menu and then decided to order a bottle of wine to split so that we could each have a glass. Pay attention to the wine menu and prices so that you understand what you can purchase as a glass versus a bottle. They do have a corkage fee for bottles consumed in house. That was tricky for us to figure out at first, but we managed. After ordering the wine, we also opted for a cheese board so that we could have a little snack. When ordering cheese boards you can either order one where they choose the items for you, or you can order a la carte and select the cheeses from a list of what they have in stock. We opted to have them select the items for us since we didn't want to make too many decisions that day. Once we placed our order(s), we went back to out table on the patio and after a few minutes, the bartender brought us a few glasses and the bottle of wine. He chilled the wine for us right before bringing it out so that it was a perfect temp. A few moments later, our cheese board arrived and had some really good cheeses to try along with some local cuts of meats and some good bread and crackers too. It was the perfect amount for all of us to share. Overall, I would say this is on my list of "must visits" for Happy Hour or for a nice little date night. They also have a full bar if you prefer liquor over wine and they mainly have cheese boards, so please don't come here expecting a full meal. It's perfect for snacking and drinking. I can't wait to go back!

Pretty cool wine/whiskey bar. Lots of art on the walls (including one I'm thinking about buying) and a small game room (think dart board and pool table) on the other side of the bar. Great place to hang out. The service was great. The wine... Well, that didn't exactly please my palate. I'm normally a fan of Sonoma Pinot Noirs, but the one by I had here really missed the mark. Also, there was very little to eat when I arrived, short of a bowl of olives. With all of the alcohol offered here, I was hoping for a more robust food selection. I'll probably return, but only after I've had a good meal.

Hosted my going-away party here last night. I managed to pick a horrible night, as many of my friends had previous commitments, but the few and proud who were able to make it were treated to excellent service, as usual, and great wine. I'm hoping that Jeff, the owner, makes good on his aspirations to maybe open a sister shop in Kansas City. New chapters and new stories to be written there. PS Aristotle once said that the more he learned, the more he realized how little he knew. If you're sitting by the bar, look up and see if you can solve any of the quotation or trivia that's posted. It's humbling...even for a smarty pants like me :-)

I love this place!!! The ambiance is amazing! Great for a small group, date night, or even to grab a drink alone. The wine list is plentiful and the staff answers questions with ease! Felt as if I had a wine lesson! My favorite is the Saracco moscato which can be found in stores so that's a plus! You can enjoy with a cheese platter or maybe just a bowl of almonds. The dim lighting makes you wish they had lounge chairs but it's still pretty comfy sitting on stools either at tables or in front of the bar. I'm not a beer drinker but they seem to do pretty good on sales of beer as well!! I have to add this to the top of my list as a wine bar favorite

Nice wine bar in Lafayette Square. Cozy and a great selection of wines and some beers. Pool table and darts in another room. Great place to come if you are just looking to drink because they don't offer food that I know of. You can buy wine there as well. Nice staff. We were kind of loud when we were playing pool but they were nice about it. Offers occasional special events and wine tastings.

Most places ignore this, but everyone that we came in contact with knew and wished us a happy anniversary. Our server (Allie) even had a special treat for us, so we started our night with a champagne toast! She was friendly, attentive and great to talk with. We had a couple of questions that she help answer right away. The restaurant was fairly busy, but we got to sit upstairs away from most of the noise. Now, the food! First, we ordered way too much. We tried the pear and fig flatbread and split a Mayfair salad. The salad was not what we expected but the flatbread was great! Try that if you have the chance! Both of our drinks (the sangria and Sicilian manhattan) were delicious and looked great. Main courses we tried were the smoked pork chop and the cauliflower pasta with grilled chicken. Both had great flavor and were presented well. Not pictured is the flourless chocolate torte that we got to go. This was incredible and super rich! We arrived right on time for our reservation, stood for quite a few minutes in a half-empty house before being seated, then waited a very long time between visits from our apparently over-stretched waitstaff. The first cocktail I chose wasn't available; nor was the first entree. I settled on the "red wine flight", and it arrived in three glasses. The server recited their names, but I didn't catch them. Food was middle of the road. A smoked sirloin sandwich was tasty, though rather well-done. And the order of "salmon cakes", which the menu says is made of "smoked salmon, roast corn, tomato, cucumber, creme fraiche, and capers" was in fact just one cake (not cakes!), smaller than a hockey puck (about 1/2" thick max) and seemed to be made of canned fish, not the bright orange of smoked salmon. It was accompanied by five thin slices of cucumber and three or four halved grape tomatoes. No corn, no capers. It was so boring, and an overpriced disappointment at $23. If this Bridge is actually closing and focusing on the event space, they've gone out with a whimper. And if they're actually continuing service, I hope they get the food a little closer to the menu descriptions. Our drinks and water glasses were empty for long stretches. We (party of 4) waited about 1 hour to get a table outside. While waiting for our table, I ordered the Woody Straw at the bar, and it was delicious. The strawberry liqueur and basil vodka paired well, and it was refreshing. The only issue was that it wasn't filled all the way. There was ice filled to the top to give an illusion of a full drink, but it was obviously not full. After being seated outside, I ordered a red Sangria. It was sweet, tart, and the perfect drink to go with the Dylan Pizza. The pizza was incredible and Neapolitan-style. It was smooth and the combination of flavors worked well. I loved the honey and caramelized onions, but the olive oil base made the pizza a little soggy over time. The service here was a bit underwhelming. After being sat outside, the servers switched, and we didn't get taken care of until it was near closing time. However, the patio and pizza were stars of the show, and definitely have me wanting to come back.

Restricting the conversation does not erase what people saw. A responsible business should respond with transparency, accountability, staff retraining, and a clear explanation of how this type of behavior will be prevented moving forward.
