It took two technicians from a different company to diagnose that the compressor was the issue. Those techs told me to just buy a new refrigerator as their company sells appliances. After reading reviews and checking Consumer Reports it was clear that newer refrigerators don't last very long and require expensive brand specific water filters every 6 months. Since I have a good quality KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator from 2005 and the parts were still available I decided to contact Appliance Fixers. They sent a tech out the next day to diagnose the issue and were able to get the part from their local warehouse and install it within a couple days. Both techs were very polite and knowledgeable. Replacing the compressor and adding Freon was a major repair and took about 3 hours and cost around $1,300. Hopefully the new compressor will last many more years and save a quality appliance from the landfill.

A tech was scheduled for the next day (Saturday). He arrived just as scheduled and removed the oven from the wall to diagnose the issue. It took him about an hour to determine that we needed a new high limit thermostat. I accepted his repair quote to order and install the part and paid $85 for the service call. About four days later he was able to return and install the new thermostat. It took him about an hour and he deducted the $85 service call from final bill. We were very happy with the experience and would use them again in the future for other appliances.
