We visited on Sunday evening. We didn't realized they closed at 7:00pm but we had a great quick dinner. The staff was super friendly and made great recommendations. I opted for the one meat platter with brisket, green beans, and Mac and cheese. I am shocked but the green beans were the most amazing I have ever had. The brisket was good, as was the Mac and cheese but the green beans were so great! They gave me a small sample of the banana bread pudding and I can't wait to return for that. I've gone here a few times while in the area over the past several years. There is plenty of clean seating inside and out. Parking is shared in front with Crunch Fitness but you can more parking on the side. Service is prompt and efficient. I ordered 2 meats a la carte for $4.49 each, through the app, which was very easy to use. I was a bit confused on where to pick up my food though. There was an outside window which I didn't see until after I went in to get my order. The lady was nice enough to switch my to go containers into a sealable side dish container at my request. I didn't want my backpack announcing it was full of bbq, while I went to a 4 hour training at the gym next door. Both the sausage and the burnt ends were delicious. I think they gave me 3-4 oz of each for $4.49 which I felt was a generous portion that I appreciated. I also had a taste of the vegan burnt ends while I was waiting for my order. It was very good and I could not tell it was vegan. The 2 unisex restrooms on the other hand were not clean. One lady came out commenting about pee all over the floor so I went in the other one. Having had no food all morning this was a welcome sight as I am familiar with this chain in Broward but know it started in the Orlando area. The Longhorn sandwich, No Hoagie Roll (no bun), had my name on it and got a side of Collar Greens (collards). I enjoyed an ice cold Iced Tea from the beverage station while awaiting the food. I was so hungry I also took a piece of Carrot Cake. The Longhorn sub, a seasonal item not always on hand, combines Sausage and Brisket, melt cheese, and Onion Rings for a winning taste! The Carrot Cake was massive. This convenient meal served at a convenient Kissimmee location really hot the spot as I had not gotten breakfast back at the hotel then had a meeting before hitting the road on an empty stomach. It seems like that may be their style--not that they weren't cooked long enough--but I personally prefer soft, fall-off-the-bone ribs, so it's probably just not my type of place. I don't know if I have the words to express how much I love this place and how there's rarely ever a time we don't come here when we visit FL ( the answer is one time and I was not a happy camper ) This time around I did their 1x2 platter and got Burnt Ends (it's my go to every time) for my meat of choice. Then for my sides I decided to try their Smokehouse Corn, which was DELISH, and their Southern Green Beans. Overall I was very happy with my choices because I felt, and this might sound weird, everything complemented each other so well in my mouth. Hey I told you it would sound weird but you get what I mean right . The smokiness from the meat with the light but flavorful sides put me in a state of absolute bliss. My husband got the same platter as me but chose the smoked turkey for his meat of choice and got the fried okra and BBQ Beans for his sides. We always share sides though so we can have a little of everything and personally it's my favorite way to enjoy eating here. It's been awhile since I've been to 4 Rivers Smokehouse. My office used to order from here for company activities. I remember the delicious taste, so I convinced my wife, that we should eat there. I was a little disappointed, as my wife loves BBQ ribs. She ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with Cornbread, Coleslaw and Cheese Grits. I ordered Pull Pork sandwich with Coleslaw, Fries. My wife's food although the ribs had a good taste, it felt like a little old. The ribs were rough/tough. My pull pork was good, however the fries were also stale. A little on the tough side. The service was fast, as we went after lunch hour. The ambiance felt like a western style restaurant. As if one is in a barn. I liked the ambience. As usual, the food is great and the service is fantastic! Even their turkey sandwich is great, if you are not feeling like red meat. By the way, their Destroyer is actually not as big as other sandwiches (the melt was comically bigger), so don't be afraid to try it if it sounds intimidating. Their cheesy potatoes side dish is amazing and the rest of the table swore by their bread pudding picks. The only thing that we didn't like was the mac and cheese. It wasn't bad, but it was no different than what you could do at home, so why waste a side dish slot with it, as there's plenty better stuff available. Oh, the fries were crinkly goodness too! We came here with family while they were in town. We enjoyed our visit here! There was plenty of seating both indoors and outside on the patio. The line to order moved quickly and our food came out in a reasonable time! We all really enjoyed our food! I got the BBQ melt with pulled pork and loved it! Food is great for a fair price. I really like the burnet ends better than the plain brisket. I've been here twice now. Had the sliders and the tacos. I think I would've like the tacos MORE if they were really hot when I ate them but they were room temperature so not the greatest. But the cheesy potatoes are a must. The decor is your typical southern rustic feel. Just note you have to order drinks on the side, and with some other orders both drinks and a side are an additional $. A BBQ place outside of the traditional BBQ states that actually acts like a BBQ place! 4 Rivers is great as like BBQ places in Kansas City or anywhere in Texas, you stand in line, go up and order as they put everything on the tray for you, pay, and then find a table and eat. Certainly cleaner than many BBQ places and all inside, but a true BBQ set up. So great. Food was good. The brisket was excellent but wanted the burnt ends to be less saucy and more crispy. I felt mine was a bit too soggy because of the sauce. I chose the baked cheese grits just to see what it was and honestly, it's a pass. Not great. I wish I would have done something else. We got a coconut bomb for dessert and it was really delicious. I also tried a few bites of the oatmeal cookie whoopie and it was fantastic. Everyone eating the chocolate chip cookies were raving about those too. The sweet tea is also perfect. Portions were good sizes. My wife and I split a 2x2 and it was the right amount of food for both of us with the dessert. Staff wasn't super friendly, but overall good vibes in the place. Coming here I wasn't sure what to expect but what I found was some yummy Q and a super friendly staff that right there makes for me wanting to come back as all who I engaged were very nice helpful and quick to know any questions I might have! So of everything I went with the two choices with some pulled pork, sausage, burnt ends and the sides all of which was super yummy like everything had a good flavor to it and I really can't say I liked one more than the other because they were all good! As for the sides it was all about the Mac and cheese and the baked beans both were very tasty and quite good making for a yummy BBQ experience all around! The apple crumble was also very yummy and just totally hit the spot afterwards as it was literally the icing on the birthday cake lol! 4 Rivers Smokehouse has expanded tremendously since they first opened their first location back in 2009 in Winter Park, Florida (which is in the Orlando, Florida area) and this in itself is quite the accomplishment. I went with one of their combination platters. I had the burnt ends, pulled pork and brisket. For my sides, I went with their mac and cheese and their jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. My first comment is that the portions are very small, especially when you consider that this place is pretty expensive when compared to other barbecue places. My plate was close to twenty dollars and the portions were ridiculously small. The burnt ends were good, but everything else was forgettable (though paying so much for at best mediocre barbecue will remain in my head for quite a bit of time). We did get the order to go, but the ambiance was okay enough. The service was also friendly enough. Unless you want to pay a premium for mediocre barbecue, I would not recommend here. read more

As usual, I followed up or along with my dear Queen Bee and her taste for something in particular. In this case, the something in particular is/was bbq, for which she's had a hankering for some time now. The place had good reviews and didn't seem like a budget buster, although the tab STILL came to $43. The decor certainly lends itself to bbq, with old pics of Kissimmee and its old, mostly long gone association with cattle ranching and rodeo. Rusty chairs and stools (deliberately so) and butcher block communal tables only help in that department. Crew seemed friendly enough from the order takers down the line to the cashier. Another lass came out to the dining room to check up on us and the other tables. Meantime, it's basically cafeteria style service as you walk down the line and they plop what you order onto a metal tray with butcher paper liner. Queen Bee got a "1x2" which is basically one meat and a choice of two sides. She got pulled pork along with sides of collard greens and bbq beans. I got the cowboy combo, which is three meats and two sides. Burnt ends, pulled pork and brisket alongside fried okra and southern style green beans. We both tasted each other's sides; only negative: her greens were too bland. Beans had quite a punch; okra was spot on, and even the Sysco truck canned green beans had plenty of porky flavor. There are several other sides to choose from as well. Onto the meats and sauces...pulled pork was a lil dry, as it normally tends to be. Fortunately they have two sauces sitting on the tables: one is their "signature" and the other is the spicier iteration of the former. I liked both quite well; even their signature sauce has a nice bite. I favored that, as the spicy stuff had a much bigger kick. That big kick detracts from the smokiness one should expect from a good bbq sauce. Personal preferences apply here, folks. Brisket was plenty yummy and not dry in the least. Here's where personal taste again matters, as one gets to choose between "moist" and "lean." The former is laced with fat and thus very tender, while the latter tends to be stringy and chewier. I chose moist, and the original sauce works well with it. Finally: burnt ends...WOW! If I had an appointment with the electric chair I'd enjoy a pound or three of these buggers as my last meal anytime! These consist in a combo of chopped brisket and pork...the bark on 'em would even make a giant sequoia jealous. Smokier than a forest fire and I really didn't need any sauce at all for these crispy, crusty croutons of barnyard bounty. Her 1x2 was $13.49 and my 3x2 was $19 and change. Add a couple of drinks and bang-zoom to $43. There are other condiments available near the beverage station along with the flatware dispenser, napkins, etc. Just next to it is a cute little hand wash station repurposed from an old barrel. Finally there are a couple lines of scripture scattered round the place along with other little lines/quotes encouraging goodness, etc. I also note that they're closed on Sundays. Without sounding off like the preacher man or whatnot, I do like that this chain attempts to espouse old fashioned good moral values and behavior. So as a once in a while treat, this ain't a bad choice at all! Despite the assembly line ordering system, this is NOT assembly line bbq by any means. There's no kinda fakery that'll get you this kinda flavor. Four stars would've been five except for a lackluster side or two. read more
