I wish I took pics last night but we had such a great meal, fantastic service and fabulous time I forgot to take out my phone! That says a lot right there. From the valet, to the hostess taking us early on Father's Day, to the entire waitstaff and every part of the meal which made it a fabulous evening. I had the Caesar salad which was excellent, the bread which is more like a melt in your mouth brioche, dirty martini- medium and perfect, lamb cooked to perfection and cookie masterpiece dessert. Walking into the guest house for dinner you are invited by a warm ambience light, with a nice layout of the restaurant and great customer services all around As for the food, yes this restaurant is more on the expensive side and everything comes à la carte, but putting price aside, the food were: Branzino- 5/5- the fish was cooked to perfection. It has that light seared charred flavor and the fish of course fresh. It was flaky mild and sweet.. you don't get that fishy flavor. As for the sauce that I would describe it as a chimichurri with capers that it came with. Ribeye- 4/5 you can never go wrong with the ribeye, but it's not something I will highlight as it was very basic for a high end restaurant. Meat was cooked great, but lacking that essential flavor of rosemary, garlic, butter Pork chop-5/5- I ordered this medium well and it came out to perfect! The meat was tender and the sauce that came with it complimented the meat so well. Additionally is entrée comes with two small sides: Latto bean with some type of barbecue tasting flavor . Sooo good. And the second side was like a charred kale salad. I would definitely recommend this dish. braised short rib- 3.8/5, from my sample bite that I got, this was another basic dish. Something was missing from this dish where the sauce needed some umami flavor or something to complement the dish altogether Scallop ceviche 1/5- definitely the worst item on the menu. There were barely any scallop on the shell and it was super fishy tasting even with the yuzu, lime sauce. Overall, this is a nice place to grab food and drink, but could use some enhancement of a few of their dishes being a high end restaurant. read more

Disappointing experience overall. We were seated in the main dining room, and although the décor was attractive, the heavy mix of wood‑smoke and floral air freshener in the air was overwhelming and honestly made it hard to enjoy the meal. We ordered cocktails and waited quite a while, long enough that our appetizer arrived before the drinks. The chicken tenders were tough and dry, as if they'd been previously cooked and then refried before serving. The short rib entrée was just okay, nothing memorable. The pork chop, however, was the real issue: it was cooked unevenly, with one section still bloody and raw while another was medium. We mentioned this to our waitress, but nothing was done to address it. For the price point, the food quality simply didn't match. We won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend it. There are far better dining options in Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland Commons that offer a much more consistent experience. read more

We went to Guest House this past weekend and absolutely loved our experience from start to finish. First, the decor - you walk in and are welcomed by an upscale, coastal Mediterranean vibe that for me, personally, made me want to gut my house and redo it :-). Then came the service. I have Celiac and rarely have I had a server that walked through an entire menu with me, noting what was gluten-free and what could be made gluten-free. It went from me thinking I only had a few options to then not being able to decide. We ordered the Wagyu Pastrami (we absolutely recommend this), my husband had the pork chop, and I had the squash risotto (I am eating the leftovers as I type this). For beverages, my husband chose two different Bordeauxs (both great) and I chose the The Gryphon - I highly recommend this as a honey butter-infused bourbon is the way to go. While we had no room for dessert, they do have a gluten-free sundae in case dessert is more your speed :). The meal is on the pricier side but completely worth it! read more

Although there's valet, the Scotsdale Quarter has nearby and free garage parking. What's neat about The Guest House is that they have have 4 distinct eating areas: the bar area, outside, a long hallway, and a large room with round tables. It's pretty neat how each area has a different sort of decor and atmosphere. Note that The Guest House is part of the InKind selection of restaurants. It's an app that basically gets you 20% off of 180+ restaurants in the Phoenix area. I suggest waiting for a Costco sale on InKind gift cards to get even more savings (generally 35% off). I tried out a Butcher's Cut, spicy rigatoni, and a warm toffee butter cake. I found it odd that they don't have a menu for their desserts; you have to ask for it to be told to you orally. My bill came out to be $131.59 (includes tax and tip). I would have loved the steak filet to come with a few small sides. The spicy rigatoni wasn't even spicy, and the toffee butter cake was warm and delicious. The complimentary bread was also nice. The server was kind and congenial. The only hiccup there was that it took a long time for my dessert to be served to me. read more

Great service and food, but ambience is super! My family and I went there to celebrate my birthday and were quite pleased with everything. We had dinner here on a Thursday night and it was quite busy in the main dinning room although lots of seating in the bar area. The menu was more meat and pasta forward, but we shared the ceasar salad, cauliflower main, steak, truffle fries and asparagus. They also brought us some fresh bread which seemed like more of a croissant bread. The bread was delicious but definitely buttery, the highlights for me was the salad and the FRIES- I think these were the best fries I've had in a long time, so good that I ate the whole portion and we had to pack the cauliflower and asparagus to go. I would have been completely satisfied with just a order of fries and the salad! We did end with the sundae which was huge and being full on fries we left majority of it! Our server Josh and the manager handled everything perfectly so this does not reflect on them but this experience was a huge disappointment overall. Ambience-not meant for the romantic date we were so looking forward to. The 2 tops are all sandwiched together. We were in the middle of 2 other 2 tops. Both had major traffic flow on either side. We felt like we were in the middle seat on an airplane-that's how tight the tables were pushed together. I felt the guys breath next to us as he was hacking away on us. This space should definitely have 2 two tops and not three. (The area backed up to the kitchen). I also scoped out the other 2 tops in the restaurant. All were either sandwiched or against a wall in a room with large parties. Food/wine-terrible. We ordered puréed potatoes, brussel sprouts, filet and lamb. My 7 ounce filet was more like 4 ounces and I had to saw it to eat it. My husband ordered his lamb medium rare and it was medium well. Brussel sprouts were inedible. They were drenched in syrup and tasted like an overly sweet dessert. The potatoes tasted like an instant mix. Wine-worst pours ever. Around 22-25 per glass. 4 ounces max. Bathrooms-the absolute deal breaker for me. Filthy. Trash overflowing. Toilets not flushing. Diaper changing stations in the stalls. Not elegant at all. I hope this place makes it. I was not expecting top tier food, but I definitely was impressed by the end of the night! Favorites: Little gem Caesar salad Spicy rigatoni Salmon Yukon potato puree (so much flavor!) Salmon was one of the best I've had - the filet was so tender (melt in your mouth), cooked perfectly. I love mushrooms, so the added mushrooms in this dish was perfect. I would skip the cacio e pepe, only because everything else made this pasta taste boring. You don't just walk in; you descend into a world where the lighting makes everyone look like they've just finished a green juice cleanse and the bass is just loud enough to make you give up on talking about anything significant and start talking about another round of tequila. I went for the "Don't Be A Prick," which is served in a glass cactus because, of course, it is. It's a spicy mezcal situation that tastes like a desert sunset and questionable decisions. It's the kind of drink that makes you feel like you could successfully start a podcast or lead a desert expedition, right up until you try to stand up, which I learned the hard way. Pro Tip: Wear your "good" shoes. Not your "I'm going for a walk" shoes, but your "I might be photographed near a velvet rope" shoes. read more

The ambience is stunning and it's beautifully decorated, which makes for a perfect date night. Now let's talk about the food. I had the ribeye top-cap and it simply melted it in my mouth! It had a slightly smoky flavor and was charred perfectly. I had them cook it at medium rare plus and it was perfect. My husband and the other gentleman with us, had the bone-in ribeye. I watched my husband take his first bite, and he looked as though he was having an out-of-body experience! He closed his eyes, as he began to rock side to side and moan a little bit! He said it was that good! I also had a lobster tail for an appetizer and we also. We had several appetizers, including a crabcake, shrimp cocktail, and a lobster tail. All were wonderful. For dinner we had bone in ribeye filet mignon and I had the ribeye top-cap!! BAAABY!! Let me talk about that ribeye top cap for a moment! Stunning! Wonderful! Outstanding! Delicious! Melt in your mouth goodness! Did I use enough adjectives for you? If you can't tell, I loved it! We also had a side of crab meat and a side of king crab. For dessert we had the butter cake with caramel sauce and it was outstanding. We thoroughly thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed our food in our time here, but it wasn't cheap! We were excited to try The Guest House, which recently opened in place of Etta. It was WPMO weekend so we expected it to be busy, but we had reservations so we were seated fairly quickly. The restaurant has beautiful ambience. It is dimly lit and has trees inside. Very pretty. Our servers were very friendly. We had one in training, and the other was more experienced and helping out. The drinks are unique. The people next to us were sharing a really large drink, I think with cotton candy in it. They brought out bread which was so flaky and delicious. It looked so pretty, I had to take a picture of it. We were hoping this was a sign that dinner was also going to be delicious. The butcher's cut steak was cooked well. However, the scallop ceviche, which was supposed to have yuzu, lychee, lavendar, and lime flavors was rather underwhelming. I would say the same about the cacio e pepe and spicy rigatoni, which was nothing special considering the price. The most disappointing dish by far was the Chicken a la Raj. It sounded so good. It is supposed to be a chicken served in a pastry shell with curry. Instead they gave us a fried chicken. They should not have that dish on the menu if they can't serve it right, or should explain it is fried chicken on the menu. We had also ordered chicken with our cacio e pepe, assuming it would be grilled chicken, but they gave us the same fried chicken cut into strips. Extremely disappointing. I came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday night. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. It was dimly lit inside with soft music. Although it had a intimate ambience it was a large dining area. Our server was nice and personable. The bread they give is so buttery and soft with sea salt flakes. Three of us shared the 35 Oz tomahawk steak. It was cooked really well. I also like the parmesan truffle fries. I took star because there were some items that were forgotten. Made a 7:30 reservation and checked in on time with all members of the party present. Despite this, my party waited approximately 40 minutes without being seated, and with little to no communication regarding the delay. Ultimately, we left the restaurant without ever being accommodated or able to dine. As someone who frequently dines in the Phoenix area, I'm well aware that busy evenings happen. However, this situation went far beyond a simple delay. Reservations set expectations, and when those expectations aren't met, especially without transparency or effort to make things right, it reflects poorly on the establishment as a whole. My friends and I really wanted to check this place out last night and were soo excited. We booked it a week in advance at 8:45...we didn't get seated until 9:20. We took in consideration of WMPO weekend and expected everywhere to be busy. We FINALLY sat down, the manager came by to apologize and offered drinks on the house. They served us some kind of flaky crispy croissant bread to start. We ordered to share the little gem Caesar salad, cicio de pepe, spicy rigatoni, truffle Parmesan fries, and the corn pudding. We ordered our food and it took maybe an hour to come...it came out cold it we let that slide because it tasted good. We ended our night with dessert and that was good too. Then the bill came... When we first sat the manager told us the first round of drinks would be on the house since we were seated so late, they charged us for that. So we told the waitress (she was pretty attentive and great the whole night) and they took that off the bill and covered dessert too. Overall the music was so good here and the restaurant it self was cute. We had a res here for Vday. We knew that it was the new restaurant that had just replaced Etta (which I had loved). I had high expectations. We were unaware that they had a prefixed menu for that night (maybe ignorant on my part, but that wasn't listed anywhere at the time of booking). Anyway, service was very slow in between courses, which is odd because wouldn't a prefixed menu help alleviate that issue? The drinks were great; really elaborate & fun, & the bread was good but the food was just simply ok. The vibe is cool, but it looks the same as Etta did; however, it did feel like something was missing. Came to The Guest House (previously Etta) over the weekend for my birthday and it absolutely delivered. This place knows how to do "special occasion" without making it feel stuffy--dim, moody, lively, and just upscale enough that everything feels like a treat. Let's talk food (because that's why we're here): Bread appetizer was the best I've had in a while. Flaky like a croissant, soft and buttery, freshly out of the oven with a crispy outside... I could have eaten 4 of them with ease! Chicken tenders + fries (yes, really): The guests we dined with ordered these and... wow. Next-level tenders--perfectly crisp outside, clearly high-quality chicken, and actually juicy/tender inside (not the dry, frozen Sysco tenders some places try to pass off). The fries were thin (not shoestring), super crispy, and dangerously snackable. If you're on the fence, don't be--order them. Hamachi Crudo: Fresh and bursting with flavor, the coconut cream drizzle paired well with the melon and the jalapeño on top was the perfect amount of spice to round out the flavors. Braised short rib: Flavor was a straight 10/10--deep, rich, and the kind of bite you pause for. I will say the portion is on the smaller side. It comes with a purée and some lighter veg, but if you're hungry (or sharing bites), add a side to round it out. I can really put some food away and this skin would have left me hungry. Spicy rigatoni: Had a noticeable little kick that made it addictive without being "burn-your-mouth" spicy. What I loved most is it still ate light, and the pasta tasted house-made (that tender chew that doesn't feel mass-produced). I'd order it again. Flaming Burrata: Finished table side with flaming foam, a fresh unique take on a a classic dish accented with Calabrian chili, this one was a treat. Pear & Gorgonzola Salad: The only thing I tasted that I wasn't impressed with, it was just another salad in my opinion. While th pears and walnuts were a nice touch, the flavor profile didn't stand out to me, I'll try the ceasar next time. Sweet corn pudding: Our server recommended it and I'm so glad we listened. This is unlike anything I've had--there's a familiar creamy corn base, but it's leveled up into this southern-comfort, almost porridge-like situation that sounds odd until you try it and then you're fully converted. Honestly? A review won't do it justice. You just have to order it. Cocktails: Unique and full of flavor, the way they made a familiar drink but with a "Guest House" twist made the experience that much better. Because they were so good I should title this section libations, cause it really is an experience. Service + vibe: Attentive but not hovering, pacing felt smooth, and the energy in the room was perfect for a birthday dinner or just a simple night out --felt like everyone was having a good night. The girl filling our water was ON IT, all night! I never got to the bottom of my water glass, at other res I'm waiting around or a refill. Bottom line: If you want a Scottsdale spot that feels like an "occasion" with food that actually backs up the hype, this is it. Went to celebrate my birthday with the girls Friday night. I'll start by saying, our service was great and I really appreciated our servers attentiveness throughout the night. Overall they did a poor job of acknowledging my birthday. The hostess were kind and brought a hand written note which was special. However, not once did anyone else say anything of even offer to bring a dessert or even to order a dessert and have my table celebrate. Given how hyped this place is I'd certainly expect more, especially at an upscale restaurant. If you're looking to celebrate your birthday this place is maybe not at the top of the list. read more

This was my second time giving The Guest House a chance, and it'll definitely be my last. My first visit was incredibly disappointing. The food was mediocre at best and nowhere near worth the price. I decided to give them another opportunity, hoping it was just an off night. Unfortunately, this visit was even worse. We had a reservation for happy hour, but when we arrived there wasn't a single seat available because they had clearly overbooked reservations. We were then told the bar seating was walk-in only, making us wonder why they accepted our reservation in the first place. A reservation shouldn't leave you standing around with nowhere to sit. Instead of taking responsibility or apologizing, it felt like the staff's only solution was to push us into the much more expensive dining room. The entire experience came across as disorganized and poorly managed. Between the overpriced, disappointing food on my first visit and the chaotic reservation process and poor customer service on my second, I have no reason to ever return. There are far too many excellent restaurants in Scottsdale to waste your time and money here. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at The Guest House. We had a reservation for Father's Day brunch and were contacted at 5:00 PM the night before to be informed that our reservation was being canceled because they did not have enough volume for brunch service. Canceling reservations less than 24 hours before a celebration is incredibly unprofessional and inconsiderate. By that point, most restaurants were already fully booked, leaving us with little to no opportunity to make alternate plans for my dad's Father's Day celebration. Father's Day is meant to honor and celebrate someone who does so much for their family, and having our plans canceled at the last minute was a major disappointment. I understand that businesses sometimes need to make operational decisions, but canceling confirmed reservations the evening before a meaningful day is not an acceptable way to treat customers. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression and made what should have been a special day much more stressful than it needed to be. read more

I had an amazing experience at The Guest House and a huge part of that was my waitress, Ashley Robertson. She was genuinely one of the sweetest, most attentive servers I've ever had. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcomed and taken care of, even though the restaurant is brand new and clearly very busy. She communicated wait times clearly, checked in at the perfect moments, and handled everything with so much kindness and professionalism. The service never once felt rushed or careless just thoughtful and sincere. Ashley truly turned what could've been a long wait into an incredible dining experience. My heart longs for the moment I reunite with the steak tartare. Absolutely, FAN-TAST-IC! My bf had the short-rib, yum, with a side of the Brussel sprouts, yummier. I had cacio e pepe and fell in love (after removing the add on crispy chicken [tasted like there was potentially an aged parm in the crust which I do not prefer, however, my bf did enjoy]) One thing I can definitely say is that this place does bread WELL! I am not a bread girly, but I could be for the fresh baked goods coming out of The Guest House's kitchen! Cocktails clouds have been better but they were still pretty good! Dinner for 2 with 3 cocktails each, 1 app, 2 entrees + 1 side, and dessert to share was about $370 after tip. Staff was EXTREMELY attentive. The decor did not match the whimsical Alice in Wonderland theme of the cocktail menu. I don't see the need for a dj and was thankful to not have blaring music during the meal. It's getting a 1. Started with the hostess who seated us...didn't pull chair out, slapped menu down, and said "enjoy". First table had overwhelming odor of urine so they moved us to a table squished between the kitchen and dining room. Food mediocre at best. It's pretty (that's why it got 1 star). It bills itself as an elegant dining experience but I've been to cafeterias that have better food and service. And what's with the women in the super short skirts? In the days of Jeffrey Epstein and objectification of women, why do you need that to attract customers? I told the manager I won't be back and I meant it. Alicia, our server, was fantastic. Seafood was fresh and chilled. I did have to ask for cocktail and mignonette but it sounds like most folks order the platter heated and with an herbed butter. The cocktails were delicious. My watermelon martini came with fragranced dry-ice smoke. The caviar was of exceptional quality though the toast points were a bit burned. My cacio y Pepe pasta was overcooked but the sauce was good. Overall, I'd go back. 8.5 out of 10. read more
