When you order a Turkey and Swiss NO MAYO and a BLT with mayo and the former has a jar of mayo on it and the BLT has none. It's not that difficult to get it right if you care. I blame management. Pay them more or take the wheel. This experience implied you take the business for granted. Zero quality control. Even Harbor Deli figured this stuff out. I was in the neighborhood looking for a sandwich spot and gave this one a try. Staff and service were excellent, friendly, patient and polite. Inside this deli was well kept, organized and very clean. They had mostly sandwiches and some hot food which I saw late. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak, it was a good sandwich however it was definitely salty. I think with the sauce and cheese and they probably put salt on-top of it that made it salty. I will definitely give this deli another try and try out another sandwich. I'll definitely ask to hold the salt. read more

This deli has been making the best Ham, Egg and Cheese for as long as I can remember. It was perfectly cooked, the ham was delicious and the roll provides a nice crunch. For sure worth the 7 something dollars it was. We ordered ahead and the sandwiches were fresh and ready upon arrival! read more

"Manhasset Deli is better than Orlando's" said the masses. I've heard it many times, but never ventured further down Plandome to give it a shot. And then I found myself without lunch this past Thursday and thought, why not? Well, I wasn't too impressed. The inside feels like an old world deli, or at least something from the 1940's or 50's with brown tiling and finish. The little shelves of knickknacks on the back wall by the registers adds to it and in turn, this added to my already high expectations as I figured a classic spot would have some quality grub. The jury is out on that. They're selling a lot of food here with their rows of freezers, salads, hot stuff, and beer? Cool. But on that chilly day I wanted a warm sandwich to heat me up. There was a menu of specials, but nothing sandwich-oriented. The employee was friendly in helping me figure out what to get. He suggested chicken cutlet, pepper jack cheese, and Cajun mayo on a hero. Simple enough. It was a decently-sized sandwich though came in at almost $10. I brought it back to work and took my first bite. The chicken, albeit better than Orlando's, was tough and somewhat dry. The cheese was a nice gooey addition and the mayo brought me the heat/warmth I was looking for, but should a sauce be what's remembered on such a simple sandwich? I think not. Overall, Manhasset Deli didn't live up to all the hype. Maybe it was what I ordered. Maybe I need a return trip to sample other items and specials. Im down, but it won't happen until I have another reason to go, and it won't be my first choice. For now, Orlando's wins out. read more

This was my first time at Manhasset Deli and it was a cozy little deli right on the main strip of the town and has a parking lot in the back which is nice. This is your full service deli with a big display of all their meats, sides, and pre- made sandwiches. I went for breakfast and ordered a bacon 2 eggs and cheese with over easy eggs it was good but they cooked the eggs through :/ so I am taking a star off for that. I also got a coffee and the total came to $7+ that is a little steep for what I got so I'm taking a star off for that. Pros: Only good deli in town of manhasset Cons: Unfriendly staff High prices 2nd update: So I went back here and they cooked my egg sandwich correct this time but somehow the price went down when I order the same thing. read more

The new owner has made several changes, none that I view as good. He has eliminated the daily specials list, the quality of the food is not as good and there is no longer personal service. You used to be able to give your order to the person who was going to take care of it, that is no longer the case. Personal service was a big selling point. Worst deli experience I've had in a long time.. called in an order got there and still waited 1/2 hr more . Then the lost one of my sandwiches . They made one and gave it to another customer so I waited again as they opened everything to check only to get back to work and open my bacon egg and cheese sandwich to find cheese bacon and ketchup!!! HORRIBLE PRICES for such low quality food I got 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches with extra bacon and a Snapple my total was $23. They charged me $10 per sandwich and barely gave me bacon let alone "extra" bacon. My roll is flakey and overall I'm just disappointed especially for the price. There's always a line here at lunch time and for good reason. The sandwiches are big and made like you want it. I had the Turkey Club w. bacon and it was over 2" high and warm! Its not fast, like us New Yorkers like it. It takes them about 10 minutes to make your sandwich, so you stand there until they call out your sandwich or pick you out of the crowd to tell you, your order is ready to pay. It seems most people here are regulars from the hood. The cons: there are no price lists anywhere. Menu and offerings are listed on boards overhead and you never know what they're gonna charge until you get your order. Mine cost about $10+? with chips and drink, you're prob. pushing about $15, which I think is pricey, but the sandwich WAS really good. I guess they can get away with this in chi chi Manhasset. I've also had the regular turkey sandwich/tomatoes/lettuce and it came out to $8+. I just like to know what things cost b4 I order. Another thing I don't like is that they have these specials, like empanadas or some other pre made food, that are set up on the counters that are about chest high, right in front where all these people stand, waiting for their orders. Food was old and chicken cutlet deluxe was chewy, soggy and wrapped in a breakfast sandwich wrapper not even fully covering the hero. The Virgils Soda 4 packs are all covered in dust and old like the food. Staff is nice and just need to be cleaner. Never going back. read more

Went today for the first time and was given old sandwich bread. This bread must have been at least 3 days passed it prime, it gave the illusion of toasted but that's if you don't know better and don't realize the bread is old. Disclosure: I know these guys. Not from anywhere other that going here for 20 years, but I got to know these guys pretty well. These guys are real countermen. I worked deli for 3 years in high school. I know from deli. I know to ask for my roast beef "trimmed close" so I'm not paying for gross stuff I don't want to eat. I know the difference between half-sour, sour, and garlic. I can slice ham so thin you can read through it. And so can these guys. Great mac and cheese and the beef stew they make can't be beat. Scrambled on a toasted roll with ham and cheese at 6:30 am? Coming up. Want coffee with that? Into a bag, napkins, fork, ketchup if you want and you are out the door. Next. Seriously. They serve good stuff. They make their own salads and the like. They pay attention to what you want, they do it right, then pack it like professionals. If only everyone worked like these guys. We were craving a good deli sandwich ... yelped and found this place. We didn't realize it's cash only and also the pricing was left blank on the menu. We paid $10 for the smallest ham sandwich with dry bread. The staff was very nice and accommodating during the late hour. Not sure if I just went in on a bad day. I've been here several times over the course of the last 7 months and I have yet to be disappointed. My favorite sandwich is the Wall Street Ruben, which is fantastic. I love Rubens and try them nearly everywhere I go. Take my word for it: this is one of the best out there. They also have a large variety of chips, soda and deli stuff like potato salad, macaroni salad, etc. Several Entemann's products can be found, including the black & white cookies, which are fantastic. I've met the two owners Tom & Kenny and they are good dudes. Stop by for a sandwich, you will not regret it. The meats are Boar's Head & other mainstream brands, the salads generic, for the most part... in other words, this deli is average, despite so many great reviews. I ordered a chicken cutlet on a hero with melted mozzarella and it was quite satisfying. But I'd be exaggerating to rate it the *best* of anything. The accompanying bean/chick pea salad was good too. My friend ordered a ham & American cheese hero, which is probably the same in countless similar delis. His potato salad was dry and uninaginative; again: generic. It's obvious this place has firm roots in the neighborhood and has a community outreach presence, which I admire (an extra star for that). Average deli with above average service. Walking in here early on a Saturday morning, the people working were to incredibly friendly. We all chatted about what was playing on the news on the TV behind the counter. It was nice to experience such a warm community feeling. It's not new or updated but it is incredibly clean and you can tell it is well maintained. I liked that there were some easy grocery items (mostly breakfast oriented) like half and half, milk, cookies, crackers, etc. I could see stopping by to pick up breakfast and a few things for a family or a group. They worked on my sandwich pretty quickly. I ordered 2 eggs, sausage and cheese on a roll - my standard. It rung up as $5.70 cents. I noted the "CASH ONLY" sign behind the register and thankfully, I had the cash. I thought the sandwich was a little pricey. Even in Brooklyn/Manhattan, you may have to pay $6 but you will get a free coffee or juice. I also in general don't love when places say cash only. I get a credit card minimum, but always having to have cash on hand just isn't always practical these days. The sandwich itself was good. I used to love this place, and everyone working there is very sweet, but depending on who makes your order it's either really good or pretty bad. It's never consistent and you get different amount of meat every time in a sandwich. Especially considering the price or for the fact that you're paying anything for it, quality should be so much better. One of the workers apparently hates doing his job. I walked in at 6:50 and he said "it's 7:00 we're closed". When I told him no it's 6:50 and I only needed a half pound of American Cheese he had an attitude and said if it's not precut I'm turning you away. I got my order but he was very rude. I worked in a deli myself, and we closed at 4:00; but if a customer walked in at 3:59 I had to serve him whatever he needed with no attitude whatsoever..you know because that's how it works. Manhasset Deli ftmfw! Ive been going to "the" deli for as long as I could see over the counter, and its gotten better with age. Fast friendly service to go with the best deli sandwiches in the world. I have tried to replicate these masterpieces at other "delis" and have always been disappointed. Tom, Kenny, Joe, Tim, and Lorraina will make you the best coldcut sandwiches you have ever had. The girls in the back make breakfast sandwiches that would leave high end brunch spots wanting more. Bacon perfectly cooked, and eggs whichever way you want them (i recommend over medium). For lunch, I recommend the Consultant (roast beef, or turkey versions - with extra gravy), Shareholder (turkey,ham, melted swiss, russian), or the Exchange (roast beef, melted swiss , russian). You only live once, so get these on a toasted hero. Pair with a large half and half, and a bag of munchos and your dining in heaven. **Note - Thursday is cordon blue day...get in there early or call and have the boys put one aside for you. Cordon day is amazing. (go with the heart attack - cordon on toasted hero with melted american, bacon and gravy). Great sandwiches made by a great family run business. Keep up the good work! read more
