Following a long period of quarantine, my husband and I ventured out for a great meal in a relaxing environment! ! We chose Mills Kitchen! The deviled eggs are divine! The place was packed! Our server leaned on our table while taking our order and when serving our order! The mask she was wearing was not appropriately placed! She spewed all over our food! The Salmon was so salty I could not eat it! The tables were full and about six feet apart! The music so loud we could not have s conversation! (So much for our relaxing first outing). Now, I am in healthcare so perhaps I am a little more precautious, however, if you have any health problems I would not recommend Mills! I doubt we will go back for all the reasons I have cited! This food is as good as it gets, seriously!! My husband had been asking me to take a drive over to Concord to try 44 Mills for a few weeks and I kept pushing it off. I had no idea what I was missing! This establishment just opened 8-9 months ago so I can imagine there were growing pains that we missed. My husband and I love good drink selection and small plates so this place was perfect! I had two hand crafted cocktails and my husband had two beers ( They have a great local selection and can also package a large can/growler to go!) and we shared lots of small plates. Everything had great presentation as well. I would say the street corn and the mac n cheese were my absolute favorites! We also tried the carrot which is in a very vanilla flavored butter ( this one is more of a comfort food), the chicharrons, the calamari ( super crispy!) and the deviled eggs (They sit over a bed of mini onion rings pretty much!). We also shared the Chocolate Ganache cake. Now that I have listed it out, I cannot believe we ate all of that...but it surely was delish! Overall, in the past, I have been pleased with the service, ambiance, quality and portion size. 44 Mills is one of the nicer restaurants in the Concord/Kannapolis area, hands down. I love that the menu is always changing and they really get creative with some of their menu items. Their cocktails list is impressive and they have a little something for everyone, no matter what way you spin it. I've been here on a few different occasions. I had always been impressed with the quality and portion sizes for the price. My experience today was less pleasant, however. I selected the soonest time available for pickup options (ASAP) which was almost an hour wait. When I got my salad, the portions were much different than the eat in portions. My bill was over $16 for a salad w no meat? Btw they charge $1 for your to go container, too. Very disappointed this trip! Perhaps this is just how they have always handled to go service-smaller portions, charging for to go boxes, and long wait time. Regardless, now I know to rule them out for take out. read more

Been coming here since they opened years ago and this is a great spot for brunch, lunch and dinner! I have tried almost everything on the menu and everything has been to die for. It's a great spot for the whole family they even are happy to accommodate one of my kids who is a very picky eater. Stopped by for lunch the other day and I was very pleased with the level of service and attention to health and safety. Food, drinks, atmosphere and service are top notch!!! SO GOOD!! Don't be thrown by the strip mall location, this place is a hidden gem. I had lunch there with a few friends and we were pleasantly surprised at how innovative and creative the food choices were. The portions were huge! We order a few apps and salads and were stuffed! The vegetable medley appetizer was phenomenal. I never would've ordered it, but it was one of my favorite items. It's almost like small roasted veggies on top of a corn and cashew succotash, so unique. The broccoli Caesar was to die for. Again something we ordered on a whim and we ordered a second to take home it was so good! The fried oysters were amazing, very light breading, and so tender on the inside. I thought the calamari was so unique and probably my favorite calamari appetizer I've had to date. It came on a bed of arugula garnished with pickled hot peppers and Kalamata olives. The chef salad was enormous and SO good with fried onion straws, deviled eggs, bacon, etc. We did squeeze in one dessert, the blueberry cobbler cheesecake...to die for!! They put out a daily menu, so items change frequently, but if any of these items are on the menu when you visit ORDER THEM!!! read more

We waited for 45 min and still no food as everyone around us ate and enjoyed! We watched people walk in and order and get there food and we still waited! The waitress attempted to bring our order that wasn't ours it belonged to a couple that we watched walk in and ordered burgers at least 20 after us. My husband and I realized we were waiting and drinking with no food as two more people walked in and ordered burgers and still received food and as we seen nothing in the pass after watching numerous burger orders was placed we just left. I have no idea how much the drinks were because the price wasn't on the menu but we aren't those kind of people that just walk out but my blood sugar on top of smelling food as I have nothing to eat was just not fun. We ordered before there 2 o'clock switch over so we couldn't even order fries but we watched burgers being passed with fries on the plate which confirmed our logic that our order was lost somewhere because it was not looking favorable for us to not feel forgotten. read more

I highly recommend 44 Mills Kitchen & Tap in Concord. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is excellent! The meatloaf and chicken pot pie is my favorite comfort food there. My husband always gets the 44 Backyard Cheese Burger. We've been ordering food from there maybe once or twice a week during the stay-at-home order. It's been nice not to think about what to cook for dinner. You can place the order, pay over the phone and they will bring your food out to your car. It's super easy!!! Food and service are on point! We ordered a pickup order on Thursday and it was amazing. We started with the liver mush croutons and had the roasted salmon. As this area grows I'd say this will become a staple in the community. I've gone 3 times over the past 3 months twice with family and once when a friend came to town for a visit. Oddly enough the atmosphere is different on a Friday night with friends vs a Sunday afternoon with family...but it works! Food is solid, clean and simple. I don't drink so I can't speak about the bar but on all occasion it seemed to be happening. Food was Good. Server was Good. Management is Rude and Argumentative! I just finished my lunch with my wife and felt like after the way their manager handled a beer I wanted to return, I was left with no choice but to post a review. As stated, the service and food were both good, however, lets get to the meat and potatoes portion of this review: I ordered "Lunch" from Maine Beer Company, a beer I love and get anytime I have the opportunity. With that being said, something was off about it. It tasted oxidized at the very least. When our server came to ask how everything was I started to explain that it was not what I was expecting. Before I finished explaining, her manager interrupted from across the dining room... she approached our table and said "I can tell you the date it was received and the date we tapped it, we pride ourselves on these things". When I explained that it was oxidized, she said it was not possible. I asked for "the date it was packaged" (which you can find on the keg collar) and she told me "the date they received it"... the reason this information doesn't matter to me is because I am a professional brewer and understand that restaurants don't get beer from out of state straight from the brewery. The beer goes from the brewery to a distributor and sometimes can sit for a while (especially during these times). If the beer was packaged a while ago (months or more) and sat at their distributors outside of cold storage, then that may have been partially a reason to blame for oxidation. When I told the manager I was sure that the beer was oxidized and that this is coming from my professional brewing experience her response was "I'm a professional brewer, too". She then asked when the last time I consumed this beer and my response was 2-3 months. Her rebuttal was that because I am a professional brewer, I have had multiple beers in that 2-3 month period that I wouldn't remember the way "Lunch" tasted from the last time I had it. That's a condescending remark and had no place as a response from management regarding a beer tasting off. There are many other factors that could have played in that beer not tasting the way it should, it could have been: old, ran through dirty lines, faucet heads not being cleaned correctly, kept in warm storage, tapped and untapped multiple times, the list goes on but you get the point. There was an awkward moment where I felt she was not going to remedy this situation which then forced my wife to speak up and say "I will drink the beer, its okay". The manager abruptly said "no, don't" but in a tone that was near bullying. She then asked me "what I love" and suggested getting a taster portion of whatever I choose next to drink, I agreed. All that to say they replaced my beer with a beer from Fonta Flora, which was great! I can say I won't be coming back though. A restaurant is much more than just a place to force food into your mouth or throw something down your throat. It is a hospitality industry, which I am familiar with as I also have a culinary degree. I wasn't trying to be a beer snob I just wanted a beer I could enjoy and the way management handled the situation ruined my dining experience. At no point was I blaming the restaurant or the manager for the oxidized beer, I was clearly trying to make a point that it tasted off and something should be done about it. There is no way to determine "where or what went wrong" with the beer, but appreciated a little more compassion coming from their brewer/bar/restaurant manager or whatever her title may be as she never formally introduce herself to us. Furthermore, the manager interrupting the server from across the room without allowing the server to remedy the situation on her own or allow her to approach her manager on her own terms, she quickly invited herself into the conversation as if she was immediately offended about the complaint. This is not what I expect from any restaurant management. read more

The menu doesn't reflect what you receive. It says one thing and you get another. There is also no consistency with random cold food. Prices are high and decor seems put together poorly and alot of weird taken space. It's a new restaurant but it needs to get a much needed handle on its identity and quality. Waiters obviously not trained at all. We will see which direction this place decides to manage itself. read more

We've been here a few times & in general it's a keeper. The food is always good - but don't count on having a favorite item because the menu is changed daily. There's good & bad aspects to that - would be nice to have a few entrees that are staples on the menu other than a burger. My only real complaint is the volume of the music is WAY too loud. Today (Wednesday) it was so loud that even my husband complained about it & he wears a hearing aid in one ear (it was off). Background music is fine but this is bar-esque loud. I like that Concord has a nice option instead of typical chain restaurant. We've been here several time & it's always busy, which is good, my problem is the menu is still limited & they don't bring back favorites like meatloaf. Reason for 3 stars is staff, I don't care how busy it is as soon as you finish your meal they bring you the check , have never ever been asked if we want dessert. The one time we ordered dessert is because we brought it up & server took order down with attitude. Shouldn't they always ask if anyone wants dessert or another drink? They obviously don't want return customers. We always take care of servers, especially if we stay a little longer, we know they need to make money. I think we'll stay away for a while. read more

This place has been on point at lunch and dinner. Sometimes I forget to get on Yelp to grab a table or put my name in line for dinner. However, even waiting for Dinner Abbey is the bomb bartender. The wait staff is attentive yet but not overbearing. The food is spot on haven't had a bad dish yet. The bourbon selection is great for this size bar you don't normally see Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, Eagle Rare among others. I even like the beer selection. Well done y'all! read more

We have bee going to 44 Mills Kitchen and Tap for almost a year now, it is funny every time I try something new here I say that it is my favorite ever, and it is always true, from the smoked prime rib sloppy, to the amazing brunch on weekends, even the hamburgers and fish sandwich are like none you have ever had before. Chef Watson is always there and his staff are exceptional. Make sure you save room for dessert if you can, my top two are the Sundrop pound cake with buttercream icing and his bread pudding. Also make sure you try one of the cocktails, he has the best Old Fashioned I have ever had they mix them ahead of time and let them age in a charred barrel for 45 days, it really mellows them out and blends the flavors. The menu changes daily because it is a fresh farm to table driven place but the burgers and a few others are always on the menu. Vegetarian? No worries since all food is prepared fresh let them know and they can handle it, plus they always have a plant based burger on hand. Some co-workers and I went to 44 Mills today for a birthday luncheon. While it was a full house- there was nobody waiting to be seated. We all ordered different things and while they were "good" they weren't anything to write home about. The Meatloaf sandwich was "basic" at best having no flavor and extremely overpriced for the portion. The chicken sandwich was requested "plain" and was delivered as the last at our table full loaded and completely coated in spicy sauce. The waitress did offer to take it back and have it remade but after waiting over 30 minutes there wasn't really time to wait again, not to mention everyone else at the table was already eating and would be done soon. The waitress was nice but didn't really check on our table unless she saw us looking around because we needed something and the manager (?) was tag teaming bringing our food out. By this point half the restaurant was empty so Im not sure what the hold up was. The rest of our party agreed that they've had better service and better food- especially for the price. read more

Let me begin by saying this review is based SOLELY on the food. Dropped by on a Saturday evening with a small group. Only waited roughly 20 minutes, the atmosphere seemed pretty lively. I decided to order the Fish and Chips at the request of the server. Once received, you immediately notice the sheer size of the dish. As I bit into the fish, I was doused with an overwhelming amount of oil, and disappointed by an almost completely unseasoned filet of flounder. The filet is surrounded by a thick coating of what I would assume is their attempt at a beer batter. This fish is served along side a portion of "Bbq Fries". These were also less than appealing in my opinion, especially compared to their herb fries. All in all, for a $16 I was completely disappointed.
