Came for Taco Tuesday, and it was amazing! The meat was well seasoned, and the sauces were delicious. Service was excellent and responsive; when we asked for something spicier than the usual red and green sauce, they obliged, and it was pretty spicy. The ambiance is chill and relaxed.

Came back to try more of their menu and I am impressed! Usually only order the basics of tacos and burritos at Mexican restaurants but I decided to step out of my comfort zone & order some authentic dishes I've never had. I absolutely loved their Carne en su Jugo & Molcajete Carne! In combination with their homemade tortillas, it was comfort Mexican food at its best. The Carne en su Jugo was really flavorful & they don't skimp out on the meat at all. It comes with a side of onions, cilantro, jalapeño, lemon, and tortillas. The Molcajete Carne comes out piping hot and absolutely filled to the brim. Once again, extremely generous with their meat. It's served with tortillas, beans, and rice on the side. By far the best thing I had here. Unlike last time, I also decided to dine in this time & got to experience how nice the service was! Gustavo helped us with our order & consistently checked up on us. We felt super welcome! Vibes are cozy too! Will definitely be back again.

My favorite place to eat Birria De Res or late night tacos. I would often go to lunch here a few times a week. Another favorite dish here is the Carne en su hugo. They make delicious Paloma's. Their crunchy tripa tacos are perfectly cooked and they never skip a beat. The owner is from San Jose and his wife is often serving too. They are both really humble and kind. I love coming here because it feels like home. I love that it's just a small place that gets busy or you can pop into and out of. They have pool, do buckets of beer, and weekly specials.

This review is long overdue! I've been coming here for a year now and it's my favorite Mexican restaurant in SJ. My boyfriend and I love going on Taco Tuesdays, especially this semester since I have classes at SJSU nearby. The food is always amazingly fresh. The meat in the tacos is flavorful and juicy. You can't go wrong with any of them-- pollo, carnitas, or carne asada. We also love the guacamole and chips. The guacamole is the perfect creamy texture. I also recommend trying their chicken mole! Mole is one of my favorite Mexican dishes. The chicken is so soft and tender that you don't need a knife to eat it. Try ordering the corn tortillas! They are handmade and so delicious. Service is always warm and friendly. The restaurant is cozy, and although I have never been there late, I'd imagine it gets lively on weekend nights!

Food: I LOVE THE BIRRIA TACOS! This was my first time and I'm glad it was here! It was delicious!! It's $4 each. Looks small, but THERES A LOT OF MEAT!! So you can get filled with 2 tacos!! Also the Carne En Su Jugo at first glance would look okay, but ONCE YOU TASTE AND SMELL IT!! MMMM MMM SOO GOOD! The definition is literally beef soup! Not to mention a lot of the food home made! Like flan and tortillas (i think made with corn flour) Service/Ambiance: This is place really felt traditional with the aesthetic and atmosphere it gave! They're welcoming to everyone! Definitely will come again! And THEY HAVE TACO TUESDAY!! $2 for specific taco each!!

My cousin and I were hungry kinda late on a Friday night . This taqueria is open till 3am on Friday and Saturday nights for only tacos . A man outside was making the tacos fresh to order . We walked in a young lady took our order after paying we took the order ticket to the man outside and he makes your tacos on the spot . They have salsas and other condiments to go with your tacos . They have plenty of seating inside . They also have a pool table outside that is $2 a game . I forgot to mention they only take cash if you don't have any they have a ATM machine inside . The young lady that took our order was very nice and attentive. I seen that they offer happy hour during the week days and a Taco Tuesday deal $1.99 tacos all day on Tuesdays pretty sweet deal . This taco shop definitely hit the spot on a late night hour . We will definitely be back .

Randomly found this restaurant while participating in the Vivacallesj. Food was very good and great customer service! This place is going to be my new go to for Mexican food.

I would suggest that the serve mention that when taking orders so we know. Just because it's at the very bottom of the menu I didn't notice it until I asked for a dessert menu. The food was so good! We had Mexican jambalaya, Carne asada plate, tacos Dorado, enchiladas with both sauces, parillada, enfrioladas (bean enchiladas) tacos de pescado, Don julio flight, multiple drinks and churros. The churros were really good although we wish there was a non filled ones too and to have the optionof if we wanted it dressed up because churros are already super sweet with the cinnamonand sugar dusted but caramel and whip cream was added along with a strawberry filling. We also ordered a tres leches cake but we didn't like the tres leches cake, it was too sweet, so sweet that we couldn't taste the filling which we assume was pineapple lol the color was yellow with pieces of fruit but we couldn't taste it. Overall the service was great and quick. I would definitely come back here.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

Our server was Sebastian & he was super friendly, attentive & recommended us the goods. My favorite here was their enchiladas - red & stuffed with chicken tinga. Drinks were good, the michelada with the shrimps - fire. Paloma - not that strong for the price you pay, but it was still alright. We waited 1.5 hours to be seated while half the restaurant sat empty. After we were seated, it took about 30 minutes for anyone to ask if we wanted drinks, another 30 minutes before our order was taken, and then an hour for the food to arrive. Throughout the wait, several servers were gathered in the corner talking and laughing while tables--including ours--were left unattended. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the service. The meat was dry, lacked flavor, and the shrimp was so chewy that I couldn't finish it. It was honestly one of the worst shrimp dishes I've ever been served. I've seen countless influencers giving this place glowing reviews, and after eating here, I simply don't believe them. My experience was the complete opposite. If you appreciate good food and good service, I would strongly recommend spending your money somewhere else.

The staff were attentive, gave great menu recommendations, and constantly came by to refill our water. Very spacious dining room. We started with the Queso Fundido, served on a small hot plate with chilis, garlic, and oil on top. It's basically a block of cheese served with chips. Even with the hot plate, it didn't stay gooey for long, but it was a pretty good starter. The Coconut Campachano was creamy and refreshing. It also came with chips, though ours seemed like crumbs from the bottom of the barrel. We got the Trompo tacos and Sautéed Shrimp tacos. Both were tasty, and the tortillas seemed fresh. My wife is Latina, so we're pretty familiar with authentic Latin/Mexican flavors, and from the moment we walked in, we were a little unsure of what to expect. We completely understand we're in Willow Glen and that Copita is going for a more upscale take, but for us, authenticity and flavor still have to be at the heart of the experience. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, and this review is absolutely not a reflection of her service. However, when we asked about the style of the food, there seemed to be a little hesitation in explaining it, which made us even more uncertain about what we had gotten ourselves into. I don't like bashing restaurants or their food, so I'll simply say that, unfortunately, the highlight of our meal was the chips and salsa. The cocktails, on the other hand, were good and definitely not shy on the alcohol! Also, don't expect large portions. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a more upscale presentation and experience, so the plates reflect that. Overall, Copita just wasn't for us. This was our first visit and unfortunately will probably be our last. I genuinely wish them success, but I think a few changes, especially when it comes to the flavors and authenticity of the food could make a big difference.
