This is the best hole in the wall spot! There are tables, but it's almost always busy so it's better to take to-go. The wings are great; crispy with a decent amount of sauce. The crab fries were AMAZING with real crab and cheese. The funnel cake fries were exactly what you'd expect (fried with powder sugar Yum!) I also had a tropical lemonade that was delicious. Though the customer service could have been more welcoming I won't allow that to take away how amazing the food was, I suggest the lemon pepper and mild wings. This is located at 37th & Bull St. I absolutely LOVE the lemon pepper and the sweet & tangy wing flavors. I can never make up my mind about which one I like better, so I get both!!! You can get a 10 pc combo (2 flavors) fries and drink for $8.99, at that price how can you not be a fan?? I give BIG KUDOS to the staff for always being friendly. Great Place! The only draw back is they have limited parking spaces. The way that the restaurant is situated, if you park in the front, you have to try to back out into traffic at the traffic light. This is my favorite place to get wings in Savannah. I was really bummed when they closed their downtown location, but their Victory Drive location is still pretty close. If you're craving delicious, flavorful wings, look no further! I love going to 5-Twenty Wings to grab takeout when I need a wing fix. The actual restaurant is fairly small, and there's often a ton of people in line. We always call ahead so they will have our order ready when we get there. They have an assortment of flavors, but my favorite are the garlic parmesan and the hot honey barbeque. The garlic parms are fried with a crispy dry rub while the hot honey bbq are coated in a yummy sauce! I do wish they would allow you to get more flavors than 2 for a thirty piece wing. I tried their crab fries, and they were pretty decent. I've heard ok things about their other entrees, but I think I'll stick to the wings. Long story short don't waste your time at this ghetto wing joint. I've eaten here twice and called in my order ahead of time both times. The first time I had to wait 30 minutes AFTER I got there. I figured it was a one time fluke and based on all these reviews, I was expecting the food to be out of this world great. I had the shrimp po-boy with their crab fries. The po-boy was good but nothing to write home about. The crab fries were unique but WAY TOO SALTY to be enjoyable. I chalked up my first experience to simply ordering the wrong thing (it's called 5-Twenty WINGS for a reason, right?) and catching them on a busy day. The second time was today. I called in my order for a wing combo, waited 20 minutes and drove over. Again, my food was not ready and I had to wait another 30 minutes for it after getting there. It begs the question WHAT IS THE POINT OF CALLING AHEAD? It literally saves you no time because they do not operate like any other take-out joint that actually has your food ready for you by the time you get there. Nothing is organized and the register is pure mayhem. The worst part of all that is even after you wait all that time, their wings are pretty terrible. Small and overcooked, the only redeeming quality is the sauce they douse them in and even that is not great. All in all, just don't do it. It's not worth your time, money, effort, or aggravation dealing with this place. Let's be real, fine dining 520 is not. When it opened it was just your local chicken shack. However, over the last few months since their opening they have made significant improvements. They have retiled, repainted, and added new furnishings. Even customer service has improved greatly, since I've seen everyone from corner boys, military soldiers, and business men passing through. Their wings have always been delicious! My favorite is the Sweet & Tangy (xtra wet) as they have the right amount of kick without being unbearably sweet. My second fav item on the menu would have to be the turkey burgers. Always flavorful, hot and juicy. Chicken Phillys run a close third followed by their Gyros. They only offer three drink flavors (Fruit Punch, Lemonade & Tropical Punch) to accompany their wings. Tropical Punch has to be the absolute best! And for the club boppers they are now open late night on the weekends till 3am. read more

I would describe these wings as around average. What that means is that they are wings, so of course they are tasty, but they are pretty much just your run of the mill wings. Definitely an unhealthy and satisfying meal, but not much to distinguish them from everyone else. I did not love their hot sauce and and I was also not a huge fan of their blue cheese. Both of those are pretty cricitial components to a wings experience. The lemon peppers were good, but perhaps a little dryer than I typically like. 520 Wings has hooked the people of Savannah! Their presence at a Census Day event doubled the attendees so I had to give them a try. Plus--there's a location dangerously close to my house, so why not? The first time I visited, I ordered a shrimp burger combo and a fried apple pie. It was one of those days, and I do not regret my decision at all. The burger was juicy and the shrimp and special sauce added an extra oomf to the patty. The apple pie was hot and obviously homemade. That day quickly turned from gloom to boom. I know that was corny--live with it. The second visit, I decided to try the famous wings. I had a combo of garlic parmesan and med/lemon pepper. The med/lemon pepper were ok. I didn't get that spicy tang I was looking for, so maybe I'll up them to hot next time. The garlic parmesan wings were much better. Overall, I think I like their non-wing selections the best, and I haven't gotten through half of the menu. The people in this place are very cool. They'll have you laughing while you wait, and ultimately, you'll feel like you're at home. That's how they make visitors into regulars. I'm all about 520. A location I have frequented many times. One I have recommended to people in town and friends who visit. The girl who answered said, "Thank you for calling 520 Wings. We're no longer taking phone calls tonight." I said, "It's not midnight." She said, "Yes it is," and she hung up on me!! Hung up on me??? That is soooooo rude and so wrong! If you're not taking calls anymore, then why answer the phone to say you're not taking calls? If she answers the phone, she needs to take my order. I am so annoyed. The food is still good but the customer service stinks. My husband ordered boneless wings for me, didn't realize they'd given us the wrong kind until we got home. One word, awesome-sauce! (okay it's not one word but humor me). The downtown location is conveniently located between Broughton and Congress st juxtaposition to Sweet Melissa's. There is nothing overtly fancy about this wing ding's setup with the exception of its graffiti art on the wall and the house party vibe with old school hip-hop streaming through the sound system. The wings and the amicable staff sufficed for the lack of decor. I was most impressed with the house special option. I had the lamb gyro and five wings and fries special. I had mild sauce on the wings which was my way of playing it safe. The wings were savory tasting and rich with sauce. The fries were basic tasting. The gyro's apperance was ample and the pita bread anchored together the tender lamb meat with fresh veggies and tzatziki sauce. 520 Wings are wonderful! I've been several times and have made it through most of the different flavor wings. I can't wait to try the fish and shrimp. The punch is also awesome. The staff is very courteous, as well as the owner who is onsite most of the time. My coworkers have all been and also enjoyed the food and had no complaints about anything else. This is a new restaurant so I don't know what the previous writer "Kirsten P" is talking about because the place was clean and there were NO flies on any windows. I personally always check these things out when I go in a restaurant and would have certainly left empty handed if this were true. One day I happened to be in 520 Wings when they were extremely busy and there were several white people placing orders. No one seemed to feel uncomfortable. Maybe "Kirsten P" is just a tad needy. Some people really need a life. I personally happen to be black and when I go into a white establishment I don't expect the staff to fall at my feet because of that, and I don't whine and get my feelings hurt if they don't.
