Headed for McDonald's while driving through town until spotted the 'burger' sign where the long gone Burger King was. This place remodeled the building so now it has an English-type bar along the full length of one side of the dining room. Looks like up to 30 Colorado beers are listed on the board! Plus, the bar has outlets with UBS ports every 3 feet! The wifi password is posted at the cash register in plain sight. Glad I hadn't read the reviews before coming. A couple of the reviews were by people who would be happy to go on down the road to MickyD's. This is a different place, one for a healthy diet. I had the polenta salad to avoid the gluten. One medium-sized piece and a small piece of okay fish with a large order of luke-warm fries. No cole slaw or other side. Some friends and I are visiting monarch mountain from out of state. This place had better food than the resort we were staying all. I split the Mac and cheese burger and an order of the mussels with one of my friends. INCREDIBLE. they need to be permanent options on the menu. We also decided to sit up at the bar while we ate. Brisket burger bummer We stopped in hoping to find a place where we could get a meal we wouldn't regret. We stopped here because, we thought, you can't screw up a hamburger, right? In looking at the menu we noticed that they touted the fact that their hamburger comes from a local supplier who provides the brisket cut exclusively for their burgers. I eagerly ordered the 50 burger, their signature hamburger. My wife ordered the Friday burger in a salad bowl. We chewed through each bite hoping that we found a meal that we would have nothing to complain about. Then about half way through the meal we both noticed the burger was chewy and gristly and didn't have much flavor. I'm starting to wonder about the brisket thing and what was so special about that cut of meat. I decided to look it up. I found out that the brisket is one of the toughest meat cuts from the cow. No wonder our burgers were tough, dry and flavorless. It is kind of amazing to me that a restaurant specializing in hamburgers would use one of the toughest cuts of meat from the cow and brag about it. And, judging from the reviews, many people have been fooled by the marketing. Then I looked into what cut makes the best hamburger meat and it turns out to be the shoulder or "ground chuck." It has rich flavor and moist texture, perfect for hamburgers. This is the cut most gourmet burger joints use. I don't get it. Why would a burger place brag about using an inferior cu of beef for its hamburgers? Oh well, if you don't mind a lack of flavor and the texture of pastrami, go to 50 Burger for a special cut brisket burger. Or, maybe order something else! read more

Our family went here after a day on Monarch Ski Area. My son had the brisket burger with mac and cheese. It was huge and he loved it. My daughter and husband split another burger and they also thought it was good. The Rosemary Parmesan fries were tasty and my Avocado noodle bowl was very good and more than enough food for one person. The tap list was respectable and the service fast and friendly. We stopped by yesterday @ 12:10 P.M. There was only one other couple inside with a few drinking wine at the bar. We ordered one Fifty Burger with a side salad, Onion Rings, a beer and a coke at the counter. Twenty-six dollars later they wanted to know if I wanted to tip with 18% or more. Why would I want to tip before I know how the food and service are? The beer was brought to table, my wife asked for a cold glass which was abruptly answered that "We do not have cold glasses". The woman did bring a glass so I guess we should be thankful. After about 15 minutes a cafeteria tray was brought with a wrapped burger, the side salad and a grease saturated bag with the onion rings and a couple of packets of ketchup and small plastic utensils. No plates, no salt and pepper. Since we were going to split the burger I asked if the burger could be cut in half. She responded abruptly that there was a knife on the tray. I then tried to cut/saw the burger with the 5" plastic knife. After sawing the "burger" in half we found that the "burger was only 2/3rds the size of the roll. We trimmed about a 1/3rd of the roll off. The "burger" can best described as something you might get at WalMart in the frozen food department of bulk wafer burgers. We had ordered the "burger" medium. It was well done, dry and tasteless. We noticed that most of the people that stopped in were tourist. I can see why this is not a local hangout. No one stopped by to ask us how our meal was or if they could do anything for us. They were not busy. And .... they wanted an 18% plus tip ..... for what .... taking our order and bringing a tray over? So if you like bland greasy overpriced food with no service this is your kind of place. You would be much better off stopping at McDs and getting a quarter pounder. read more
