This is a long due update... Service has drastically improved as well as Happy Hours specials, seating, staff and the possibility to seat outside in a covered patio! In my previous (3 stars) review, I highlighted a huge disappointment in wait time. However, the last 2 times I went there, the service was prompt and professional, the food awas as good as before, not to say better thus I must update to 4 stars! Vibe is getting better, plenty of families enjoy the patio. I'll go back and try more!

Great service and great food. Prices are very reasonable too. We will definitely be back.

As I am such a creature of habit this is, after many years, still one of our staple go to spots. It's just off the Paseo Vista downtown/south Santa Fe Ave area. I absolutely L*O*V*E when there's good consistency to places. The spicy Korean bbq tacos continue to be amazing!!! Cheese curds delish! And a tall wonderful pineapple cider is appreciated. We always receive service with a smile!! We've enjoyed sitting in all areas. The front patio porch, the inside (cozy) and the back/side patio regions. Check out their sites for the fun events that are held here! *only qualm is the tap water is NOT good.

They have very nice daily, happy hour specials. Beer selection was a nice, house wines were good. Friendly staff not a complaint in the world. A must try. It will be your favorite little spot in Vista.

Cheese Curds. Small, irregularly-shaped chunks of cheese, battered and fried. The flavor is milky and mildly salty.

While we were drinking at Burgeon Beer Co. (across the street), we saw a QR code on our table to different restaurants from which we could order food from and have it delivered right to our table. Just make sure to add the note, "Burgeon at the Grove," at check out so they know where it should be delivered. THE FOOD. - Cheese Curds | Small, irregularly-shaped chunks of cheese, battered and fried. The flavor is milky and mildly salty. It also comes with a side of aioli for dipping. Nice, tasty appetizer. That's all we got from here, but their menu has much more to offer and would love to come back to try out other dishes.

I absolutely loved our experience. I have been suggested multiple times by trusted restaurant industry friends and finally made it out. So unassuming!!!! Tiny tiny little space with a big outdoor build-out. Fam and dog friendly. Group friendly. Draft list awesome and I'm a buyer. Had checked out their Yelp and website. Weekly specials. We happened to go when there were $1.25 wings and you can mix and match flavors. I didn't even order them for myself but bit a friends. Both flavors were super yummy and even when tossed, the skins were crisp through the sauce. Both flats and drums. I'm a tiny bite person and ordered hummus. Don't judge. Came out just as the website suggested in their photo. Consistency is everything. Thoroughly yummy for chat nibbling at $11, great 'share with a friend' food. Hands down the SERVICE!!!!!! We arrived shortly after they opened and I'm currently randomly on crutches so we sat closest/easiest outside. Our Server Deity, Lalah, was: 1) able to answer all of my random questions regarding menu and restaurant history/ownership 2) humorous 3) attentive and.... as the patio filled up, I saw how many regulars arrived that she unrolled the welcome mat for. I will def be suggesting and returning. Had a lovely first time. Appreciate you.

It was a Saturday adventure. Hubby chose 508 tavern. We were looking for somewhere new to try. They had a little parking lot behind the restaurant. And we parked there. When we walked in, it's a tiny bar with bar seating and some tables. The patio is THE place to be. There are a couple of high table tops, some picnic tables and patio chairs and tables. It's very chill. We ordered mango habanero wings , sure and turf tacos and calamari. Everything was super fresh!!! We found our new place for wings!!!! Yay!!! The tacos I had were surf and turf tacos. Fresh fish tacos and Korean beef tacos. So delicious I even ate the onions!!! The calamari looked a little greasy, but honestly, the batter was so light!!!it was delicious!!! We will be back! Have to add that this place is dog friendly.

    Cheers

My friends would rave about 508 Tavern and it's long been on my list to try out. The main reason we didn't try earlier is because they don't have A/C and it was a bit on the smaller side. If you don't find a seat inside, you're relegated to sit on the patio which I think used to be their parking lot. Parking is on the street, so you may have to walk a bit. Being November, we opted to try Taco Tuesday. Most of the tacos are around the $2-3 mark and the reviews were all positive. We came and ordered all the tacos, each of us got three different one. We also got some beer, wine and a milk shake. The tacos were just "ok" to me, really not that special. They are street taco sized, and we've had much better versions at other places and food trucks. The Spicy Korean BBQ taco was not spicy and had too much liquid in it (see pic). The shrimp taco was my favorite of all I tried. The included tiny salsa had zero heat. The venue is very small, but there are two TV's inside and the chairs are padded (but the bench inside is not). They have about 10 beers on draft along with a draft cider and kombucha. (FYI - the blonde is very light & tasty, would recommend). Service was good, even though they were quite busy around 5:30pm. There is no happy hour, only daily specials (i.e. Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, Thirsty Thurs, Slider Saturday, etc.) and beer prices are around $8 for a pint. I would be willing to try the wings & sliders, but for tacos I'd think we would pass on trying those again.

I love La La!!!! She was our server and made our night so much fun. The food was delicious too. Had the chorizo fries (which she recommended- so glad she did) and the wings! The habanero honey sauce was deeeelish. Definitely recommend this place :)

Stopped by for Taco Tuesday and had a great time! The Micheladas were good! The tacos were delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. The service was great, they were busy but the servers were friendly and fun! The ambiance is very casual and laid back. I will definitely be returning!

Street parking only, but wasn't too hard to find a spot as we came early. The restaurant is very nice and looks new. There is two dining rooms one towards the front near the bar area, and another in the back. We sent in the front for brunch. The menu had a good variety of items, and we decided to go with the chilaquiles and the shrimp and grits. I love Shrimp and grits, and it's not too common on menu's so i has to try it. The dish had pork belly instead of bacon, and shrimp. THe texture of the grits was very good, not too runny or too thick. The shrimp seemed good quality and not chewy or rubbery. I really enjoyed the dish and would order it again. The chilaquiles were an interesting take, not at all what you're normal chilaquiles would be. They come with lamb but we substituted with chicken. They were covered with a type of hollandaise sauce and we both thought they were good. I also ordered a breakfast shot that had bourbon in it, and a piece of pork belly on the top, and a shot of orange juice. It was pretty strong and very good. I would definitely order this one again, and the piece of pork belly they added on top was perfect. It's been a little bit of time since we've been there, but this has always been a place on top of our recommendation if somebody is coming to town it's where we would take them to show them a good meal and when other people ask for recommendations for a nice place for dinner, it's what we would tell them fast-forward now I think a couple years later from the initial opening and we don't come quite often just bc we have some new favorites, but it was Sunday night Labor Day weekend and we didn't know where to go so we ended up here. They admitted when we first walked in that they were shortstaffed totally fine and I'm happy to sit in the bar area. Truthfully, we don't come as often because they got rid of my husband's favorite oxtail Birria burger, but we do bring friends here for brunch. Anyway, we were here for dinner on Sunday night. Service was short staffed like they had mentioned and we sat at a high top in the bar area. We started off by ordering a hard seltzer and a carajillo. My seltzer came out rather slow, but it took probably another 10 minutes for my husband to get his drink and when they brought it out, they brought two like they were confused on how many we ordered so we kept the one and then they ended up giving ours I think to what I'm assuming with some friends the owner at the bar not a problem but one thing that I did notice is that there were a lot of "friends at the bar" it definitely gave that kind of vibe they were doing shots with a patron, gave our incorrect food order to another, were testing a new cocktail recipe I think with some. They were sharing drinks with some patrons. It's probably a nice gig if you're friends with these people and I'm not hating on it. Then we ordered our food. I ordered some Mezcal lime wings, and my husband ordered the grits when my food came out the waitress brought a burger and a salad and we had to tell her that wasn't our food. Then we waited another extra five minutes for my husband's food to come out and it did. I will say the quality of the food hasn't changed. The wings were delicious. They were crispy and they were well seasoned, and my husband really enjoyed his food, but it was the lack of service throughout the meal that really hit home for me that we probably won't be coming back as often and maybe just for brunch. It was such a weird experience to feel like because we were paying we were getting worse service than those who were getting free drinks and such but I can't complain because the food was good if the service was bad and the food was bad I'd be leaving a lower review but I can't give any higher than three stars if there was a 3 1/2 I'd leave it, but I almost never write negative reviews for places, but this really struck a nerve for me. I think because we came a little bit before 7 PM. It's not as if they were closing in 20 minutes. I could understand poor service for that, but I didn't really see why the service was so poor looking around. It's just a bit confusing, I guess.

Someone else grabs fresh bread and a bag of peanuts as they seat you. Then your server is right around the corner to get drinks and apps started and answer any menu questions. We decided to try to eat lightly and shared a combo 12oz ribeye with ribs. Came with two sides -- we chose chili and mashed potatoes. And of course we had the warm bread with honey cinnamon butter, as well as the peanuts to start. I was definitely stuffed by the end! Loved the bread and the steak - would order again. Ribs were okay, sauce on it was a bit sweet for my liking. Sides were okay too. Service was awesome. Ethan was our server and took note of it being our first time. He was super helpful in answering my questions and giving us some tips and recommendations.

Ambiance and space were good--the place was lively and generally clean. There were just way too many people that they almost made a ginormous area feel tiny, if you know what I mean. Service was mediocre--we had to wait quite a while for our main entrees to arrive and staff could have been more attentive. Food was decent--we all enjoyed our meals. One thing of note was that they nailed the cook on all of our steaks (they better since they are a steakhouse after all). Also worth noting was their complimentary bread rolls with that signature honey cinnamon butter--they were so divine, I could've had maybe three servings of that for lunch and leave with a happy belly. The bread rolls were pillowy soft and had that hint of sweetness that just paired so perfectly well with the luscious honey cinnamon butter. Would we come back? Maybe. But I think we'd consider other places first before we go back here.
