The silence was so loud if that makes sense. The farther we went onto the trail, it began to intersect with other trails and we began to cross paths with bikers, other hikers, and runners. It was pretty cool to see a community of fellow nature lovers enjoying the environment.

As is customary, there are separate areas for large and small dogs, a gated entrance area for leashing and unleashing area and a large parking lot. The park includes some agility equipment if you really want to play, a walking trail, drinking fountain and lighting. A bathroom facility is here for the humans. The dog park is sectioned into big and little dog, but people often bring their under 30 pound dogs into the large section. Don't be surprised if a dog starts chasing your little rat dog like it's a squirrel when you break the rules. The people are generally much better than those at the park in Killeen. The owners are pretty responsive to dog behaviors and understand the difference between play and aggression. This park dries quickly after a rain and you aren't often left with giant smelly mud puddles. One of the dog water spouts is always clogged while the other just doesn't work. Bring your own water and bowl!! There's a great kids playscape close to the dog park to make this place a family go-to along with the YMCA where you can sign your offspring up for classes. A lovely mile long loop circles the park with mature trees and beautiful neighborhoods in the backdrop.
