Just wow. I've moved about 12 times throughout my life and yesterday I received one of the most excellent service from movers! My fiance and I moved out of a one bedroom DTLB apartment into a two story townhome. We had already moved most of the boxes beforehand and wanted to find a fast moving service so we could save some time and money. We came across 55Moving and honestly was a bit skeptical since many of the reviews claim that they are slow, unprofessional, and shows up late. We were 100% wrong about them. Anthony & Sergio arrived exactly at 8am and were able to load our 7 furniture pieces (one of them being a giant 3 piece sectional sofa) just within the first hour! They were even able to take some smaller objects we skipped out on as well. We live on the 5th floor so we expected far less when it came to time efficiency but they we able to move everything out quickly and without a scratch. They were extremely efficient and by 11am (3hour minimum service) we had everything in our new home! Most importantly, they had no hidden fees and their total came up to be exactly as promised over the initial phone call. We are so happy we went with 55Moving and extremely thankful that Sergio and Anthony showed up to help us move into our new home. You guys rock!! read more

This was my third time calling 55 Moving to help with a very simple move. They were to move furniture from a small sized storage unit to a 2 bedroom condo. Over the phone, I was told by the owner that it would cost $175 total and that this cost "includes everything." In the end, it actually cost us $300+ for 2.5 hours because of a "4.75% service fee" that no one could explain to us what it meant or how it was calculated. This time around I got movers who didn't get along and moved very slowly. One of the movers kept complaining about having to carry stuff and he kept huffing and puffing when a box had to be carried upstairs.... which by the way, we had to pay extra for. Also, be careful and keep an eye on your furniture. They ended up losing my brand new outdoor patio bench that retails over $600+. When they took it out of the storage unit, they placed it in a random hallway by the elevator, and forgot to load it up in the truck. Unfortunately the cleaners at the storage facility saw it as a lost item and tossed it in the trash. When I contacted the movers about this lost item, they said "I can't say I remember." (Screenshot attached) I have security footage from the storage facility showing that the movers left it in the hallway and the bench got thrown in the trash. It was a huge disappointment because I had to buy a new one. The only positive thing about this experience was that the younger guy of the two movers assembled my bed frame for me. In conclusion, it's not $55 an hour. Lots of hidden fees and the movers you get are a hit or miss. Some guys are great and helpful, while others not so much. I'd look elsewhere. read more

To call this company a "professional mover" is an insult to actual movers. It's just guys with a truck. The pricing on the webpage is an absolute sham. In no way shape or form is the base cost $55/hour (min 2 hrs). Eddie quoted me $200 over the phone for moving a 700 sq ft apartment. They are slow, sand bag the move time, and continuously complain about the work they have to do. Take multiple extended breaks and then act like they're doing you a service by only charging you for the "labor". I had to move 1,400 feet down the road to another building. I watched them drive off from one building. They arrived 45 minutes later at the destination building. 45 minutes to go 1/4 mile!!!! In total, the move took 5.5 hours (1.5 of which was them being slow) and cost me $400. Also, be aware of any small yet expensive items you have around. I had a pair of $200 earbuds sitting on my bed. They then took apart my bed to move it and magically the earbuds are no where to be found. Can't prove anything, but one moment I had earbuds... the next I didn't. read more

I was in a pinch and wasn't sure who to call until I came across 55 moving. I've read a lot of positive reviews from other fellow yelpers and I was not let down. The quote was more than fair, the communication between dispatch and the crew was excellent, and their timing was punctual. The two gentlemen moved some furniture down stairs that had some difficult twist and turns. Without hesitation they figured out a way to get the job done. The truck was well-stocked with blankets, dollies, wheel cart... everything that was needed including a liftgate. To say they were well prepared would be an understatement. EDDIE IS A TOTAL SCAMMER! This company should be called the Eddie doesn't give a $hit about you or your stuff. 1. He would not listen to me or my requests abut caring for my things. 2. He would not wear his mask 3. When I complained he threatened to unload the truck and leave my stuff on the sidewalk. 4. I asked him to wrap things. He REFUSED... LITERALLY. I reminded him that I am paying him and that if I want to take more time to care for my things, that should not be a problem. He said the blankets were in the back of the truck and he could not get them. He literally pulled down the back door of the truck and would not budge. 5. He did not use a key to start the truck. He climbed under the truck and held wires together. LITERALLY. Made me wonder if the truck was stolen... 6. He began driving in the absolute wrong direction. I was following. I called and asked him where he was going and he said he was going to get lunch. I asked him why he was driving 20 minutes out of the way to do so and his answer was "Because I can." I panicked that he was going to try to steal my stuff so I continued to follow close and contemplated calling the police. He turned around. Still not sure what he as doing. 7. He kept saying he was a professional and to let him do his job. I explained that one broken piece of furniture would be more than the fees I would owe him for the job. That is when he informed me that per CA law, it was $.66/lb and that he would get to keep the item. Then I knew why he didn't give a $hit. 8. My furniture arrived cracked, scraped, dented and even completely broken. I had to call Mathis Brothers to come fix several pieces of furniture. 8. He showed up late. WARNING - DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. If a 0 star is an option, that's what he would get. My mom booked with this company to move her apartment literally across a hallway. She had to move as her unit was scheduled to remodel. She booked with 55 Moving without reading other reviews. The night before she moved, she panicked after reading reviews and attempted to verify he would show up. Today is the day of the scheduled move and he did not show up. Hours later she was able to get him on the phone and he said he was busy and had truck issues and would likely not make it today??? She called Monster Moving per my recommendation and they came right out and moved her immediately. It was a 1 Bedroom same city local move. My brother was sick so decided to call this company to assist with the process. We thought let's give business to the local company and Support local business owner. Well low and behold to our surprise during the move they must have carelessly rocked shook and dropped or something and damaged the internal components to our beloved TV as the moment we looked at the TV to turn the TV on so cable company could connect cable, we found out that not only there were scratches to it but also the front glass or so part has a round broken hole! so when it's turned on there are color lines running up and down instead of a clear picture. All I can say is immediately frustrated as it shows the movers were completely careless in the process even though it was a less than a few miles move! We thought let's try to give them a call and connect with the owner/manager. They seemed like they didn't even bother to care! The owner/manager never called back as they promised at all! Don't bother hiring. We worked with them 2 years ago and thought they did such a great job and quickly too, so we scheduled them to help us move a couple weeks ago ... but THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! They were quick to respond when we reached out for scheduling our move but they were UNRESPONSIVE once the day arrived. There was absolutely no communication that any changes had come up. They did not inform us that they would not be coming. We texted and called only to be led to a full voicemail so there was NO WAY to get any updated information. If they had at least given us notification, we would have been able to find and hire different movers in a timely manner. But we were left waiting and wondering to then have to scramble for new movers. I wish I could give zero stars I should have known not to hire these people when I called to schedule as the person who answered was super rude and unfriendly . I requested a quote 3 times online. Never heard anything. I called. I was told I would be called back in 10 minutes. Days passed with no call back. I should've taken these as a sign, but I persisted because I wanted to save money. I called and booked the appointment. Next bad sign was when I got a call the morning of the move, the guy didn't know how many bedrooms they were moving nor where I was even moving to. Why did I waste my time on the phone telling your boss if he doesn't communicate that to you, or you chose not to listen? The two guys showed up and immediately were questioning me about the staircase. They wanted to know who moved me into the condo. I told them Qshark (diff moving company). They were saying it was going to be a level 8 move-super difficult... Okay, I get that. That's why I hired you. Because I'm not capable of moving myself. I was told the set of stairs inside the condo (carpeted) usually would add $10/hr to the cost, but that they would hook me up. They said they would take care of me, and I would take care of them. That's a creepy way to say you want to make sure I tip you well. It made me instantly uncomfortable. Also, I was never told there would be any extra charge. No one asked me if there was more than one level to the unit. And even if I had told their boss that, based on them knowing barely anything about my move, who knows if they would've remembered. From there it only got worse. I could nearly write a novel. Some key points: They smelled of weed and a couple times I caught one smoking from his vape (probably smoking wax). I had to ask them multiple times to move things that I had clearly set aside. They still left one item behind for me to have to take in the car later that day. They moved my bedframe down from one level to the bottom by using the loft railing... I had to hold the chandelier while they did this risky maneuver. They couldn't figure out how to get my fridge down the stairwell, so they wasted time driving around the complex to grab it from the curb. I had to literally go ask where he had gone to because he was gone for sometime. They didn't pay attention to the address I sent them or when I yelled the number of the parking opening to them. Without calling me to double check if they should start unloading there, they did while I was inside the complex. Called them 5 times with no answer. I had to go search for them to tell them no, not here. Then they got mad at me. Etc etc etc They scuffed my bed frame and there was damage to the inside of my fridge. They didn't wrap the fridge closed like I had asked them to. Then when I questioned them as to what happened they asked if I was "seriously blaming them." UHM, well I didn't move it... Things got really bad really quick. I told Chris I was not trying to get into it with him. He asked if I was having a bad day and did I just hate them. It has nothing to do with my personal opinion of you. It has to do with the fact that error after error was being made. Moving is hard enough without all this BS. I even told Nathan nobody asked me if this was an easy move. I would've said no. I never said it was going to be a walk in the park. I wish I had hired the movers I had last time. That was my mistake. I ended up needing to go take out extra cash because they took double the amount of time the other movers did to move the same amount of furniture. Our personal experience with this company is....We used 55 moving for a move. They brought a truck too small. They damaged some of our items. They damaged the interior walls of our home. When I contacted the owner Tam Nguyen regarding the damage, he referred us to his movers and told me to take it up with them. I asked him about insurance, about repairing our damaged items and he basically told us that he wasn't going to deal with it and to talk to his employees. The move ended up costing us more, we had to hire a 2nd company because the truck they brought was too small, and they damaged our personal items along with the interior walls of our home. I would not recommend 55 Moving. Upon looking up his license from 55 Moving/Tam Moving, we found out that on 6/22/17 that the license was revoked per CA public utilities commission. read more

Where to start, I sent this company an email inquiring about moving services and felt I asked reasonable questions in my email such as if they charge for for mileage, what are the fees for extra hours and if their movers assemble furniture and if so what are the prices. I received an email from Dan advising to give him a call regarding a quote and he would assist. I called around 4:40 pm and asked to speak to Dan and he was the rudest man I've ever spoke to. He was short with me, told me he wasn't in the office and then said the location I live was out of his area. I advised him in the email I sent I asked all these questions so I wasn't sure why he was acting so rude over the phone. Dan even hung up on me! I called to make an apt. to move. I scheduled my move for 2 pm. They arrived early. I wasn't ready yet. They arrived about 2 hours early, calling saying I have 4 kids and want to get going on my halloween with them. I let them know I understood. 7.5 hours later. My move was complete. Some broken eggs(which was not a big deal) They then said there is an extra charge for driving. Which Tam did not tell me when I asked how much the move was. They also said they had to charge me for arriving early, saying that they would meet me half way and charge from 1230 when they arrived at 12. Moved- 1 bedroom apartment /2nd floor 30 mile move on the 91 freeway on a Wednesday So I had 2 movers for 3 hrs Miguel & Jose (They finished the entire move in 2hrs) These guys were professional offered to box , wrap, or blanket anything. I already had all my stuff wrapped and boxes so I was prepared ( the guys loved it) They were careful with all my belongings . I had a total of 6 xlarge and 10 medium Home Depot boxes . (Stuff that was labeled fragile) they took care of They got to my destination same time I did so I know they did not slack which was awesome See pics I recommend them and am how stay shocked they have little starts on yelp. 60/ hr for 3 Hours ( minimum ) was totally worth it. NEVER USE 55moving. EVER!!!!!!!! I wish I could give zero stars. 1. These guys come in and start complaining and cussing about the move. The job I hired them to do. It doesn't matter if it's hard. That's why you're hired. 2. They broke my bed frame. I watched them do it. Banged one end to the floor until it Ripped an end off that could have easily been unscrewed, just to get to the hook. They tried to assure me that it was glued. After I told them it's fastened by screws. 3. After they broke it they claimed it was already broken. I showed them how easy it was to take it apart from the other side. THEN THEY AGGRESSIVELY threatened me sizing me up saying "Well whatcha wanna do about it then huh?!?!" 4. They go downstairs and dump all of my stuff on the curb with no notice and just leave. 5. Sent pictures to the owner and he's taking his unskilled laborers word for it. After I sent pictures of both. Saying "they left because they don't want to work for free." SO THEY KNOW THEY BROKE THE BED!!!!! And won't get back to me. NEVER USE 55 Movers. I'm not exaggerating when I say this. Thugs hired for unskilled labor, and they screw up the one job they're supposed to do. WHO HIRES PEOPLE THAT WILL BREAK THINGS IN A MOVING COMPANY? THEN THEY THREATEN YOU!!!! How could these people have such a high rating on Yelp??? Probably their cousins and neighbors are writing out the reviews! This is my story. Got the 3 hr weekend rate for $214 ( not $55) which was very competitive and I took it although my gut feeling was telling me that they would not do a good job... the owner's communication is not that great and he speaks broken English. On the moving day, to move a 1 bedroom from the storage to a one bedroom less than 10 miles apart they tried really hard to make it 3.5 hours and then they wanted to charge $290!!! For half an hour extra? Are you kidding me? Plus they used my glass table to carry boxes and now the table is wobbly and the legs are not aligned anymore. I wish the story would end here but no! After they left, I noticed I was missing a nightstand and I called them several times with no answer... the next day I was putting some trash away and I found my broken nightstand in the trash bin! My WORST moving experience story- STAY AWAY, Hire a professional mover INSTEAD. Eddie who calls himself the owner agreed to do the move at 275 flat and I promised them if everything will be good I will give you guys a great tip. The move was scheduled for 9 AM. Right before 1 day, I called to check in if he is going to make it since I haven't heard from him. He constantly requested me to move my shift to 7:30 AM in the morning. We agreed on 8 AM. He again called in the night to tell me he can only do it at 7:30 AM as he has other jobs. I said ok even though I knew it's gonna be tough for me. Finally, Eddie and Johnny showed up around 8:15 AM and they were not wearing any professional clothes. Neither did they had any gloves or any cleaning wipes for their shoes or hand even though he agreed to take all precautions for COVID. I offered all those as I had a small 1-year-old kid and I didn't want anyone to get sick. I offered them a good tour of the house and showed him all the stuff that I got. To make his job easier We had tried packing all household upfront in packaging boxes and keep near the gate (16 extra-large Home Depot boxes). List of items - I already sent these to Eddie before he gave the estimate and also the night before since he asked. A tv console, glass table, sofa, love seat, baby crib queen bed, washer/dryer refrigerator, and few trolley boxes, and a few other smaller stuff. All he had to dissemble was the bed. They started the move and I was surprised to see that they were not very diligent with the boxes event if it's written on top that it's fragile. Eddie was not physically that great and was often getting tired, the other guy Johnny was good. Looking at them how slow they were I also started helping them with smaller items. He took 2 10 mins break and one 30 mins break at 10. To be honest Johnny was the poor guy as he did 70% and Eddie did only 30%. At 10:15 AM he called me and said he needed to talk to me and to my surprise he started saying it's a lot of stuff already and he needed to go to another job and if I don't agree he would put all stuff from the truck out and leave. THAT WAS RUDE, still being a nice guy I requested them please ensure you come back at 3:30 PM as you promised as this is my last day of the lease and I had to turn the keys into the leasing office. He sounded too promising ( shame on me if I don't return blah blah) and I knew he would be late for sure. It's already been 3:40 pm they didn't even bother to call, Eddie was not even picking my phone at around 4:50 pm he texted that he will be here in about an hour. I was not happy still I did talk to my leasing office and requested them and they said fine but they would charge me for 1 more day ( around 79 bucks) I had already made a couple of trips in a hope that these guys would come as they PROMISED. But then I texted him last time at 8 pm and told him I am going with another mover. Then he called me back and said he is on the driveway and will arrive at 9. Finally, he showed up around 9:15 and they both were high on weed. I had to get rid of a few kinds of stuff ( A nice wardrobe) just because they were too late. Finally, this NIGHTMARE finished around 12:15 AM the night. Look at the pictures- They took my kitchen floor off, broken one of the lamps and GOD knows what's still broken inside the boxes as I haven't yet opened it. At last, when there was stuff left in the truck he was asking me around 600 USD otherwise he would not let They didn't even move my boxes, neither did they hooked up the washer dryers. Finally, we settled in at 400 CASH as I just wanted this night to go away soon. If they would have been nice I would have paid them up to 500. You might be thinking about what kind of fool I am, but all I was trying to offer a little humanity and I didn't want my new MOVE to be pathetic. I had moved on and left the JUSTICE to God. For any professional moving company, it was a job of 4-5 hours and trip distance was just 4 miles. It's just that these guys were not fit for moving, didn't have proper tools, and were high on WEED and kept saying oh it's too heavy, dude if it was all Ikea stuff why would one hire a moving company. I know they work hard and that's why I offered them money but believe me you can not imagine what kind of PATIENCE it takes to deal with these situations. I would give this company zero stars if it allowed me to. I made an appointment over a week in advanced and even got a confirmation text the day I made it. I called multiple time to make sure the time and day was still good and they said YES. 9:30PM the night before my move out day they called and asked if they could come at 10:00am instead of 9:00am I said sure that's fine. The day of my move out they did not show up. I called multiple times asking where they were and they gave me the run around and then stopped answering the phone. Bottom line it was extremely rude and unprofessional. As anyone moving knows the day is stressful and they just made it 100x worse!!! I am not someone to write yelp reviews but please anyone reading this DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

SCAM . They advertise the low hourly rate because they truly suck . No customer service . A rude guy answers the call and they don't give you an estimate of hours or the total cost . They just repeat their rate because they wanna get you . NOT worth it to deal with unprofessional and rude SCAMS ... read more

I want to give Chris and Dan 5 stars! They came on time and did really great gob. Only use three hours to move and set up all of my stuff. They were so professional, and never crash my furnitures or make them dirty. Highly recommend~! I will promote them to my friends. read more

Had a great experience with 55 moving , they provided great service and accommodated to the day that I needed to move . Eddie and Johnny, arrived on time and were very helpful from the moment of arrival . I'm really happy with there service because moving can be very stressful but with there service all my personal belongings were properly tooken care of and made my moving date very easy. It's very unfortunate that there is bad reviews but I can honestly say that I will definitely will be giving them a call again . Thank you Eddie!!!! read more

Sad to say the second move was, in a word, traumatizing. They had double booked my time slot and I got to be the one who had to wait. They asked to move me the next day, however I live in towers that require elevator rental so I couldn't adjust. 5 hours late and in a rush they left one closet behind, destroyed 6 plants, scratched furniture and left my couch in a holding area because they couldn't figure out how to angle it in my elevator. I returned to my old apartment to clean and discovered the closet full of boxes. It's a one bedroom with one closet, it's not like it was hard to miss. All my potted plants were stacked on top of each other so many were just broken and unsalvageable. The two young guys who moved me were just lazy and rude. I guess consistency isn't their strength. Bummer. I really like to support small businesses, but will never again use this company. read more

Oh yeah,today I used their service and I'm 100% satisfied. I read few reviews about broken stuff so I put fragile things into my car and no problem. First of all thank you so much for accommodating me on short notice, I called on Saturday and was able to book them next day on Sunday, thank you so much!!!! Guys were nice,polite and worked fast. I live on 3d floor,was moving into 3d floor, 1bdr apartment took 3hours, price around 260$. Gotta say ,it was cheapest from all around when I tried to get estimate. These people will steel your stuff.they steel. I gave them alot of free stuff they don t deserve it. And they work too slow to make more money. Also there owner said 86 an hour and they start adding stuff, end up paying more. Bad bad company. Also elegal workers. Only cash and no receipt at the end. Your company called steeling company. also they supposed to go back and get more stuff because I payed them more. My wife left before them waiting for them. We trusted them. The movers did a fine job on the move, they were a little late but that's not a big deal. The reason I'm giving these people 2 stars is because of the way the communicated after the move. They broke a chunk of our wall, and a lamp we had just purchased. When I told them about it they asked to call back. It took me a few days but when I called back no one picked up, I texted them and they said they'd get back to me and didn't. Then they finally offered to fix the wall, but since I live in an apartment community and had already moved out, I didn't have access to let them back in and fix it. The apartment community already fixed the wall and charged us for it on our move out bill. They haven't even mentioned how they plan on taking care of the lamp. Conveniently, the only time they can talk to me is when I'm at work. And if I suggest another time they just don't respond. I've texted them 3 times in the last week, so far no response. I wouldn't hire them again at the risk of them breaking another wall or worse something more expensive. Update: I have been calling and texting every few days requesting to get in touch and absolutely no response or acknowledgment whatsoever. read more

I had schedule my move weeks in advance for 1pm. They called me the day of the move and said they were running an hour behind. It is now 2pm on moving day, they called again and said it would be another 45 minutes. After an hour, now 3pm, I called the movers and asked where they were. I was told the job they were on is taking longer and it will be another hour. I then called the company directly and said this is not acceptable, at which time they said they would call me back. About 5 minutes later, someone called me to say another crew was on the way. They got my move done and nothing was damaged. However, the professionalism lacked from the inconsiderate driver of the original crew that was running hours late. I will never use this company for a move again. I suggest scheduling your move for the 8am shift if you want it done on time. read more
