You really have to look for it to find it, so keep your eyes open! We were warmly greeted on a Friday night and seated right away. Ladies, bring a sweater as the A/C works really well inside and my wife immediately started shivering, but I always keep a sweater in the car for her, so she was happy. Our server, isiah, was fantastic. Super friendly, very responsive, and very nice. He is a huge asset to the restaurant, in our opinion. My food was good- I had the Ahi Tuna bowl, which was plenty of food, and the tuna was cooked as I like it- rare. I would ask for less ginger next time as there was a lot in the bowl and I took most of it out. Still, an excellent dish that is more filling than it looks. My wife doesn't like seafood, so she ordered the chicken marsala, which, in both our opinions, either needs to be removed from the menu or reworked completely. The marsala sauce had absolutely no taste- at all. My wife made the remark that she felt like this dish would be served in a old folks home. My wife asked for pasta with it instead of vegetables, and she should have stuck with the veggies, because the linguine was WAY overcooked, and again, no salt or anything- it did taste like the noodles you get in canned soup. Again, I think this dish should be reevaluated, but it won't stop us from coming back because there is so much potential here and I saw quite a few dishes I want to try and the desserts look good, too. The staff is great and the menu looks really good, so we're going to keep coming back in the hopes that my wife finds a dish she likes, because I know I will be happy with my food. By the way, I am not as picky as my wife, and I tasted her food and she was absolutely right about it.

I had the market catch triple tail with mashed potatoes. The beurre blanc sauce on it was delectable!! I topped it with some hot sauce to give it a little zing and it was amazing. Same smell we know locally. My wife told me that she witnessed the manager spraying something near the other bar patrons behind me as he went toward the kitchen. She knew I would be so upset about it that she did not point it out at the time. I just curled my nose and thought about another seat or to vacate the premise. It dissipates quickly so we tried to be forgiving. The tab was inflated by a drink never ordered and they charge extra for Tajin on the rim of your margarita without notice or justification. So we needed the owner to approve the corrections of the bill. We were told that it became a "flavored" margarita when Tajin is added to the rim in place of salt or no salt. Then we got the "costs are up" story that we have not heard before while ordering my margaritas anywhere else. The waitress did manage to get in a few "I don't make the rules, I just work here" clip that we read here in other reviews. So my wife was pissed and our return visits are now very unlikely. I am not happy either but was looking forward to coming back for liver and onions with our stepfather very soon. Doubtful now. Poop stench in the face, spraying chemicals in the dining room during service and nickel and dime issues make it hard to justify taking our family back here. That is what disappointed me the most. I know this place had a real chance with us at first. Probably not now. ‍

She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, gave us great recommendations, got every single thing right, and was attentive without ever being overbearing. You could tell she genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. The food?! We had lobster, crab legs, shrimp and pasta, swordfish, and grouper -- basically, we worked our way through the seafood menu and everything was absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, generous portions, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality. Great food + great service + great prices = a definite win. We will absolutely be back!

Four of us entered the restaurant at 7:25 whereupon the first four employees we encountered (not our server or the hostess, just random employees) curtly informed us that the kitchen closes at 8:00. OK, so should we leave? We were starving but should have! Four crappy meals later, all previously frozen seafood that was poorly prepared, and lighter by $200, we regretted ever walking through the door. Let our lesson be yours and save yourself the trouble and expense. By way of comparison and not because we have any stake in it, we spent ten dollars less two nights later and had four great meals at O'Bricks downtown. Oh, and an extra round of drinks for the ladies.

The food was as great as I remember it from many years ago. We got a variety of platters and different kinds of fish. My butter garlic scallops were cooked to perfection. Nice green beans and red skin potatoes to go with them. And a very delicious cilantro rice. There is no way to go wrong with any choice. Our non Italian Jovanni waiter was great and funny. As it happens the place was just remodeled and it's looking wonderful. (I was able to take some pictures before they closed for the night). The only thing missing was the old metal hangers with paper towels hanging above each table. But I asked and they said they are putting them on. I can't wait to go back on our next trip.

Unpretentious Dive with Surprisingly Fantastic Seafood…read moreParking & Atmosphere Parking can be tricky upfront, but head around back--there's additional spaces behind the restaurant. Inside, it's a classic, no-frills dive with zero pretension and plenty of booth and table seating. Note: the indoor restrooms are currently under renovation, so you'll need to step outside to use the temporary, air-conditioned portable restrooms. The Food Clam Chowder: A real highlight. Served piping hot--a rare treat when most places serve it barely warm--packed with tender clam bits and hearty potato chunks. Classic, traditional flavor. Coconut Shrimp (6 pc): Well-seasoned with a prominent coconut flavor and no grease. Average-sized shrimp paired with a punchy apricot-horseradish sauce that actually brings the heat. Standard condiments (ketchup, cocktail sauce) are available if horseradish isn't your thing. Smoked Fish Dip: Clean, straightforward fish flavor without unnecessary filler. It automatically comes with tortilla chips, but you can swap them for crackers upon request. French Fries: Golden, crispy, and non-greasy, though they could use a pinch of salt. Overall Impression The plating is basic and the decor won't be winning any design awards, but the attentive service and hot, savory food more than make up for it. If you don't mind a rough-around-the-edges vibe, this local staple is well worth a visit.
