The crazier thing happened this morning. Joe and I have been going to the 5th Ave. Bagelry on Magnolia Ave in Corona for 24 years. We love their bagels but the people who serve us, especially the manager is always rude and quite disrespectful. We are not allowed to buy more than 2 of any kind of bagels even those I ask. Each time I go I leave angry and frustrated. But since I love the bagels I still go back. So a couple weeks ago I brought her a gift. I figured she was exhausted from getting up early in the morning and working so hard so I wanted her to know that we were grateful. Then a week later I went back and brought gifts for each of the workers. I bought my two sesame and two plain bagels and when I left she told me she had added a couple extra bagels. My favorite. Sesame. I walked away believing that people really can change and received your kindness with a grateful heart. Yesterday I ordered a dozen bagels and when I went in today not only did she charge me for the dozen but she charged me for the two that she gave me last week and an extra one. She told me she hadn't charged me the last time so she was going to charge me today. I decided I wasn't gonna argue with her so I paid her for the gift, although now I know it wasn't a gift, and I really have to reconsider if I ever want to go back. read more

Should have read all the reviews about the terrible customer service before I walked in, they were all correct. This place has the potential to be much better if it wasn't for the terrible customer service. Start with saying something when customers walk in. Don't just look at them and then walk to the back and spend five minutes back there before you walk up look at the customers again and then start wiping down the counters. I am gluten sensitive but I love bread! So every now and again I crave a bagel, and my local market and coffee shops do not have sourdough options which seem to work best for my tummy. When I did a search and 5th Ave came up I was pleased to not only see the positive reviews but also see they had sourdough options, so I had to give it try! Boy am I glad I did, there is something so simple about a bagel sandwich but their Turkey w/ sprouts and bacon is just so yummy. The bagel is aways fresh and so are the ingredients. I called to voice why they sent that food out like that and their response was, " Oh that's how it's supposed to look" How dismal a business to respond that way. One star is too generous. Went there today for Sunday morning bagels. It was our first time going to try them. We ordered 6 bagels and cream cheese. The service was incredibly slow. The woman working was not friendly at all. She was super rude and seemed irritated by our being there although she was nice to the woman who she served before us. I hate to say she was racist but that's what it felt like. Her attitude completely changed when it came to helping myself and my boyfriend. I still gave it 3 stars since the food itself was good. read more

Increíble! Stopped at El Super for groceries and saw this shop. I decided to try it out because I love bagels. My love for Bagels went up more because of this shop. I ordered a Heavenly Veggie bagel sandwich and indeed it was heavenly. The bagel itself was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Unfortunately I didn't even get to enjoy a bagel. I ordered the Works bagel, and when I went to pay it was$4.52 for a regular bagel! Call it specialty if you will, but their menu even said it was $1.99 for a specialty bagel. Ok fine $4.52...but when I went to pay they wanted to charge me .$75 for under $5! Yeah it's a no from me. I'm extremely disappointed by the experience, I have just had here. I have been to the location in Cypress and I have had nothing but great experiences there. But this location is definitely not the same. For starters, they not only messed up my order (slightly) but the order of the person in front of me. They gave me a peach tea instead of a mango peach tea. They messed up two of the four bagels for the person in front of me, adding ingredients in one that were never asked for, and not adding ingredients in the other that were asked for. Additionally, they charged me five dollars for my fruit tea when the sign says it should be $4.50. When I asked them about this, they said that they are unable to update their sign. As for the cinnamon ring bagel I ordered, only the top half is flavored which means the bottom half is pretty much just a plain bagel. However, what I think I am most annoyed about, is the price of the Boba, which is very low quality. Boba is apparently $1.38 and the price is not listed on the screen so you don't know until you go up to pay. I have never paid more than $.75 for Boba with the average cost being $.50. The taste and quality of the boba is very disappointing, and I would expect much better for the price. And definitely do not come here if you plan on receiving good customer service. The only nice person working here was the lady at the cash register, and even she never made any attempt to rectify the issue for the incorrect order that was ahead of me or my incorrect order. I came here this morning for a bagel with cream cheese and lox. The bagels were toasted nice and cream cheese was fine, but the lox salmon was so fishy and even brown a bit. It was not fresh. The price was fine, but unfortunately the flavor was most important and every bite was a complete disaster. I tried to add lemon to get rid of the fishiness, but it was no resolve. Even the capers were over powering. One star as it was my first and last experience here. East coast bagel is a better bagel shop if you need a suggestion. We got the lox bagel and the bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagels tasted very dense and stale. We asked for the bagels to be toasted but did not seem toasted. The bagel with veggie cream cheese barelyyy had any cream cheese, and when we went back to the counter asking for just a bit more cream cheese they said it would cost more. No thanks. He thinks he does not like them too much. Eh. What do Filipinos know, anyway? They eat weird stuff. But I think 5th Ave Bagelry might have even swayed the "stubborn one" after having a NY Bagel sandwich. There is a wonderful variety of breakfast and lunch sandwich options, and omelets, but mine was constructed with a sesame seed bagel (my personal favorite), tender and toasted, slathered in cream cheese (a deviation from the menu), honey roasted ham, avocado, red onion, tomato, lettuce, and sprouts. A lovely divergence from the usual egg laden, boring breakfast. And folks, I heard him utter, "Ummmmm, gooood." At 9 on a Friday morning the shelves were looking pretty bare, but there were two big, fat, profusely sesame seeded bagels, unclaimed. I would like to think they had been waiting for me. "Don't you dare order those" I thought, as I waited for the lady in front of me to make her purchase. She wisely made a different choice, made it out of the store alive, and I got my two bagels. And they were oh, so fresh and tender. I will also admit to licking my finger and uncouthly tapping up all the little sesame seeds that tumbled off my heavily seeded bagel onto my paper lined basket and popping them into my mouth. Yep, I was raised in a barn. I do not claim to be a bagel expert, but these were some of the best I have sunk my teeth into for a very long time. If I had *any* complaints, they were downright skimpy with the avocado, and the pasta salad side was not the best choice. Get the potato salad, or maybe chips? But in the scheme of things, the sandwich filling sang in harmony. Yes, I would do it again. And yes, beagles (actually, this one was a cheagle) eat bagels.
