Standing in front with Lady Liberty!
    Debra S.

After a fun time at Cal Poly for parents weekend , we drove out to Morro Bay. It was a foggy day, but still beautiful, and we were delighted to stumble on the Hungry Fisherman. We were greeted by Lady Liberty out front, and walked in to discover a very nice quiet, clean diner-style restaurant. Our family of five sat at the large table in the center, and we were greeted immediately with waters for everybody. We ordered the veggie scramble, clam chowder soup, oatmeal, the bacon avocado omelette, grilled salmon salad, and a side of bacon. The bacon was cooked perfectly, portions were generous, and the clam chowder was warm and creamy. The breakfast potatoes were cooked perfectly, Everything was delicious! Our Server was very attentive and we were happy with our meal. Highly recommend. We forgot to take pictures of the food, but here's a picture of us in the front with Lady Liberty.

My husband and I camped for 2 days on the beach and then stayed an extra day to explore the town. Today is our last morning before we drive back to the Bay Area and stopped at the hungry fisherman because it was right near our hotel. We love a good diner breakfast and this place did not disappoint. Seems like it is family run which is always a plus. My husband ordered the steak and eggs and he said the steak was super flavorful and good! I ordered the country fried steak and eggs because it is my favorite breakfast. I have been sick a majority of this trip but when I saw gravy UNDER the fried steak all my worries and doubts went away. What a wonderful surprise :D. The biscuits were buttery and soft. We will definitely be back next time we visit morro bay!

The food was very good. I got the BLT and fries. The ranch was very good and creamy. Our waitress was very nice.

Stopped by the Hungry Fisherman because it was close to our hotel and I am glad we did. The restaurant is clean and quaint with nice nautical murals on the wall. The server was friendly and attentive, offering recommendations on food. The portions of food was huge and very good.

All we wanted was a good cheeseburger w onion rings. So we walked from downtown to The Hungry Fisherman. It was a a satisfying meal for my husbands birthday. We sat at a comfy booth, immediately asked if we wanted our drinks first, we ordered and were served pretty quick. Onion rings and zucchini sticks were piping hot and crispy batter. Big burgers. You want pie? They have a big choice we got the chocolate walnut joy ( I think) it was yummy. I gave them 5 stars, good food service and cleanliness in restaurant and public RR.

Went here today and it wasn't crowded when we showed up about 9:30 on a Saturday. Everyone was very friendly, especially our server, unfortunately didn't get her name, but she had of black glasses. I had the carnitas special with hash browns. My husband had bacon, avocado cheese omelette Al's with hash browns. He also asked for an English muffin. We also had a side of fruit and I had coffee, much better than last time. Why does breakfast sometimes cost more than dinner, like at Panda Express. Anyway, we will be back. Also the place was very clean, including bathroom and I like sitting in a booth.

Good food and service. I ordered split of champagne but they stated they just serve 1 glass. The french toast and strawberries were tasty.

Cute gift shop, decor with country tchatchkes, doing some minor handiwork during open time - was a bit distracting. Loud with echoes due to concrete floors. Owner overseeing the handiwork and her daughter seems to work here. Lots of loud local conversations heard across the restaurant, including discussions about city council meetings, etc. 3% Credit Card fee not posted in the menu, but rather on the board at the entry. Some people might miss this posting, which is unfortunate. Sat at a small table even though several larger ones were available and no one waiting. Seem to specialize in breakfast, which I have had here before and it was fantastic!! Friendly folks. Bottomless sodas, but they were flat and tasted too syrupy. Could have also been diet even though I ordered regular. Green leaf lettuce so I ordered a salad with my bacon cheeseburger and fries on the side. I appreciate that the server knew it was cheaper to get fries on the side instead of the salad on the side. Fries were seasoned a bit too heavy-handed, the burger was great., bacon cooked perfectly. Server quick to refill soda as I ate my meal. I will probably return here, especially for breakfast, but will pay with cash next time. Clearing off my phone I found some old pics from Carla's, boy does that breakfast and sandwich to-go look great!!

Since it was so popular decided to arrive early and expect to wait a while. To our delight as we walked in we were greeted and brought to a table immediately. The restaurant is drenched in sunlight and an expansive view of Morro bay including the famous Morro Rock with a ring of clouds embracing top of the rock and sunlight highlighting the ripples on every small ripple on the water. The restaurant has deep brown wood beams and molding throughout, warming the crisp white tile floors and clean white walls and as we were leaving there was a staff member polishing the brass foot. The staff was offing us water and coffee just as we settled into our seats. We also ordered fresh orange juice that was perfectly sweet and clearly fresh, the coffee was excellent and refreshing and refills were offered throughout the meal. Their were many tempting choices on the menu and we choose omelet and pancakes, everything was cooked perfectly and arrived promptly. The omelet had the perfect ratio of egg to fixings, the pancakes with fresh blueberries bursting from within and sweet fresh strawberries and whipped cream to top the best pancakes I have ever had, as well as the 2 fresh homemade muffins offered as a side to the omelet made this meal completely delicious, beyond expectations. If you are heading to San Luis Obispo county head to Morro Bay and make your way to Dorn's.

Our server was friendly, attentive, and everything came out at the right time. I also liked that they bring warm bread and butter to the table as a complimentary appetizer. The food, though, was the only disappointment. Everything was fresh, but it lacked flavor. My boyfriend's pasta was very watery. I ordered the fish, which was cooked well, but it was so spicy that it covered the taste of the fish. The baked potato that came with it was just a plain potato with no seasoning at all. Overall, I'd give this place three stars. The service, atmosphere, and location were great, but the food just didn't live up to the rest of the experience.

I ordered the Calamity Jane burger, and wow, it was absolutely delicious and HUGE. You will honestly get full after eating just half of it. I also got a side of their potatoes with the spicy garlic sauce for dipping, and it was so good. Definitely a must-order! They also had a great selection of sangrias, which was a nice bonus. The only thing I'd mention is that it can be a little pricey if you're dining solo, so if you're going on a date, be ready for your pockets to take a little dent. Next time I come back, I definitely want to try the shrimp tacos because they sounded amazing. I was torn between those and the burger, but I went with my default order. Had to park across the street in the surf shop parking lot for a handicapped space, luckily the traffic wasn't too bad crossing the Embarcadero. Waited quite a while to be seated. Loud concrete floor with metal chairs, could hear the conversation of all the other diners!! Distractions from people walking by on the Embarcadero, but great Rock view. Ordered cheeseburger with potatoes. Salad was "mixed greens" so I didn't order a salad. Next time I will get their wedge salad, but I didn't know if I could finish it with the burger and potatoes this time. Server said no fries or chicken strips becasue they don't have a fryer. Free refills for sodas, but only a little bit of ice. It was a bit syrupy and had a lack of carbonation, might have been Pepsi instead of Coke. Steak knife included with utensils, which came in handy because the burger was really slippery and I had to eat with a knife and fork!! Potatoes looked overcooked but that was because they are purple potatoes!! They tasted ok, luckily not too spicy like everything is these days. I liked the non-purple potato's texture better. Slow to refill my drink. I will come here again and have the wedge salad, from the pic it looks smaller than I expected this time around so it will be able to be eaten with a burger!!
