I placed a mobile order on Black Friday so it was busy. The app said 15 minutes and it was spot on. While waiting, I observed so many customs coming in for their orders and they were definitely regulars, as the barista addressed them by name and chatted about their Thanksgiving. I've been at this location a couple of times and always I have to shake my head for something. This is a no-no when I'm off to a not sooo great start of my day...thanks to this Starbucks. If it's not the oddly constructed parking lot that's already full, it's ordering something they don't have like a simple herbal tea. Nothing to complain about at this Starbucks location. Compared to other locations, this one is spacious. There's ample seating inside and outside to sit down and enjoy the drinks. We stopped here on the way to the airport and got our order promptly (first PSL of the season). Everything was good! Would definitely return to this location. read more

the barista sophie or sophia can't remember her name. started when a group of us walked in 7 of us, and we go to order and she started by getting frustrated because we weren't in a line. We told her we are all together and so she rolled her eyes and i proceeded to order. I ordered some drinks then tried ordering a Java chip frap with no coffee and she started getting flustered and snapped at me and said "we don't have that any more" and I said I know you need to manually type it in, and she rolled her eyes again. I paid for our 3 drinks and apple juice. My dad went to order his drinks, but he wanted me to scan my app for points, she proceeded to say "who's in line" again-with an attitude. I was just in your store. All coffees for mobile order pick up have lids on their drinks. When my family ordered we asked for the lids to be put on so we could carry out and was told by a girl with purple hair and a bad attitude that I needed to do that myself. She refused. This place sits conveniently along the 5 freeway, in the city of Carlsbad. It served as my quick stop for coffee and a restroom break while I was on my way to Baja. I drove in, and noticed that the parking lot was ok in size. I was able to find a parking spot easily that day. I walked in, and noticed that this Starbucks store is pretty big. The line was not long that day, so I was able to put in my order quickly. I was hoping to use their restroom, but the baristas told me that "due to pandemic restrictions, the restrooms were closed." Most other places (i.e. supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants) say that their restrooms are "out-of-order" to avoid cleaning their restrooms or let shady people in. Why this Starbucks location kept their restrooms closed is beyond me, considering that they were in a nice part of town, and there was no mandate to keep restrooms closed due to pandemic restrictions. What they lacked in restroom access, they more than made up for in customer service. The baristas were all nice and energetic people. They were efficient in their work, processing my order in a matter of a few minutes. The place was kept very clean, and there is plenty of seating indoors. This may serve as a quick coffee stop in future trips to SD or Baja. I look forward to having full access to all of their services once pandemic restrictions are lifted in California. read more

I've stopped in three times, although one time was just to buy a gift card. I REALLY dislike the location of this Starbucks, and will not be giving my business to this one anymore. My biggest complaint: the parking lot is tiny, and the building is located near the southbound freeway on-ramp. It is very hard getting into and out of it if you are westbound. While they are friendly to me, they are super slow. Everyone bunches up hanging around for their drinks, both inside and outside near the door. I'm actually surprised it gets that busy as the parking situation is crap, but I've seen neighborhood people on their morning walks stop in for drinks. I only get nitros here so they really don't have to do much to get my drink onto the bar. However, I witnessed them putting whipped cream onto a drink and when the customer asked if it was hers and said she ordered no whip, the barista proceeded to try to scrape it off. That customer asked for it to be remade and said she'd wait... the barista more agitated than her. Restrooms are closed at all Starbucks in this area, citing Covid. BS- they just don't want to clean them. As I stated in another Starbucks review, it doesn't make sense to serve coffee and milk-based drinks and not have a restroom. Overall, meh. P.S.- as far as chains go, I'd be loyal to CBTL but they stopped carrying nitro due to Covid. Warning: This location does not have a drive-through and has very limited parking surrounding the store. However, the lobby is quite large with plenty of tables and seating options for those looking to plop down and study for a few hours. It is conveniently located off of the 5 FWY but the one exit / entrance into the parking lot is quite small and dangerous with some blind spots. The husband dropped me off in front to run in to grab my drink order and I was thankful there was not a line. My drinks were made quickly and according to order (which is always a bonus). I know the new paper cups are not their fault but the new domed lid requires a straw !! They keep the straws behind the counter still so every time you order a drink you have to wait for the extremely busy barista to come back over and ask them for a straw. This is so annoying !! If the new cups REQUIRE a straw then why are they straws being kept out of reach?? Also the paper straws suck. They could have gone an environmentally friendly route without using the cheapest, most flimsy straw in the world. If you drive anything bigger than a Prius, I highly recommend you don't come to this location. It's got great freeway access but there is no drive thru and it's very misleading when you go to the back of the building and there are 3 other cars stuck trying to get out! Only one way in and out... I can see this causing accidents if not traffic bleeding out of the parking lot onto the main road. Currently got a good parking space but now I'm blocked in because other poor customers are stuck :( read more

This Starbucks is a quick drive or walk from the the Roadway Inn and Econo loaded on Pio Pico Drive. The service is fast and friendly. My order was made perfect. I love this Starbucks for its abundance of seating, mainly inside but also outside. The outdoor seating area is loud, though, due to all of the road traffic. This is one of the largest buildings I've seen a Starbucks be in. The employees are friendly. But the "parking lot" is horrid. Good luck finding a spot to park in. Even more luck trying to get out of the parking lot (one way in, is the same way out), especially if you weren't able to get a spot and now have to try to do a million-point-u-turn to get back out, while trying to avoid the other cars that pulled in behind you hoping they'll find a spot. When you sell coffee and you're next to the freeway, it is rude to travelers to keep your restroom closed. The health department doesn't tell you to close your restroom. They tell you to clean it frequently. So, keeping your restroom closed is a disservice to your customers because of poor management. read more
