This place is one of those guilty pleasures that I got to once in a blue moon. I used to live very close to this store and would treat myself to the smallest slushee usually during the hottest days of summer. Now, I go here maybe once or twice a year. It's usually a hot day and it's usually just for a slushee. The employees here are super friendly and very helpful. They keep it clean and well stocked. It has the basics in the junk food department: chips, sodas, beers, hot dogs, and slushees of course. They've a decent salad and fruit selection, too. How can 7-11 not have coffee available unless the machine is broken down. The cashier told me that they don't do coffee only cappuccino at this time. It was 8:30 at night and there was at least 10 people inside the store so they're not that slow. I'm driving 300 miles and this is a detour to keep myself awake. Unfortunately they did not have coffee available. I fully expected that the cashier would tell me that he would make some but he said no only cappuccino out of the automatic machine. I hate how the dtore closes, the cashier usually does his cleaning between 1 am -2am. It veryconvient when you want something quick.. But not to have to wait for the guy to come back from where ever he went, leaving the premises in his car. The website reads open all day , 24 hours. Please I am warning you, this place used a scam machine on the debit card reader and I got robbed out of $200. I had to make a claim with my bank to file a report after. I came to visit for a Sonoma Raceway event just to be scammed. How do I know? My card was completely fine before I entered this 7/11. A day passes and I start to get all of these charges to my card coming from Las Vegas, Nevada. My banker told me my card was being used by PIN number. Keep in mind I NEVER dropped my card, I never let anyone use it or borrow at any time. This 7/11 is not good, be careful. read more

First of all, I used to love this place. The manager was super friendly and super respectful and very approachable also super convenient. After tonight though, I had the worst experience. I guess they didn't have the mandated LGBT sexual Harassment training. The old white guy with the grey beard and the short white hair is a total dick. I was refused service and then I was sexually harassed and called out for being trans. If you have ANY sense and you want GOOD service and not support biggots and transphobes, please AVOID this business at all costs. Apparently he gets asshurt about wearing masks to. Totally was being singled out because when I go in there I see people not wearing masks all the time and they don't get called out for it. But when I go in there, it's like he purposely singles me out for being different. This a hole first of all denied me service, threatened to call the cops on me for no apparent reason other then being trans, and then has the nerve to sexually proposition me. I have(!) to review my hometown 7-Eleven. It's one of the nicer convenient stores now that I think about it, especially now that I live in the East Bay. All 7-Elevens have the same basic structure: milk, soft drinks, beer, energy drinks, 7-Eleven staples, such as slurpees, big gulps, etc. The real test of a store like 7-Eleven is being able to come into the store at 2 or 3 in the morning and not having the fear of being robbed by a lunatic off the street. Luckily, Novato doesn't have such unsavory characters, so this store passes with flying colors. Oh thank Heaven. Note: Avoid those Hill Middle School thugs from 2-3pm. read more

Update from my review beneath the little dotted dashes below: They've gotten better. No more arguments and they clear the parking lot of gang bangers. The people are actually pretty friendly there now and they are trying to make a go in a rough neighborhood. My remaining complaint is that they are often understocked on some items and --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've been going here since I was five. Seriously. It's been through a series of owners and managers over the past five years. It's a 7-eleven. I don't expect a concierge. But I do expect someone to occasionally mop the floors, empty the drip tray beneath the coffee machine, stock the shelves, and make sure drugs aren't being sold in the parking lot. Wiping the counters is right out. There used to be a delightful man who was a partner with his aunt and he managed that store. He was either shipped off to another one of their stores (my theory) or back to India (his aunt's explanation). Never go there between 2 and 3 in the afternoon on weekdays. You will be faced with forty (no exaggeration) kids in the parking lot. Never give money to the homeless people there every single morning. It encourages them to stay They don't give out bags. You have to ask. Their english becomes increasingly sketchy when you ask them for a bag, lotto numbers, or anything that doesn't involve you giving them money. Do go there if you want to listen to loud family bickering among the middle eastern generations who work there. Unless you are well trained or well armed, never go there in the evening. The city of Novato, in its latest act of social engineering, has dedicated the Wyndover Apartments and Center Place (two large complexes directly contiguous to this store) as public housing. Gang-bangers are everywhere. If you are a girl they will hit on you. If you are a guy they will mad-dog you. I'm well trained, so I go. But I feel sorry for people that have to be intimidated just because they want a half-gallon of milk at eleven o'clock at night. They installed security cameras in the parking lot. I very very very seldom write a review and have not for years but something just happened that compels me to post here. I stopped at the 711 store on Diablo in Novato tonight, just after 8:30 p.m. I was in line to pay just behind a young boy that was probably around 11 or 12 years old. He was with his mother who was a few feet away and about 4 other friends or siblings. The young man put a bag of candy on the counter and then quickly took two other small candy items from his pocket and placed them on the counter and handed the clerk (a tall man, no idea of his name) and a $20 bill to pay for the 3 items. The clerk asked him what was in his other pocket. I was stunned he would ask such a question and the young man replied that he had what I think was a package of gum that showed signed of already having been opened and pulled it from his pocket to show the clerk. The clerk then proceeded to suggest the young man was attempting to steal the gum. The boy said it was his and not from this store. The clerk continued to what I saw as interrogate him. I spoke up and said "this is wrong what you are saying to this young man". The clerk continued to accuse the boy of attempting to steal the gum. I called the mother over and said "is this your son?, what this man is saying to him is wrong, he is interrogating him." The mother explained that it was the boy's birthday and that he already had the gum. The clerk stood his ground and put the gum towards the back of the counter. All of this happened in the course of probably between one to two minutes. I think the mother was as stunned as I was... they were all very nicely dressed and remained polite. The clerk gave the boy his change for the three items and said something but I am not sure what he said as I was so disturbed that he would have accused this young man of attempting to steal what was clearly already his gum. I left this store without purchasing the item I had come in for and I will not go back ever again. This clerk was clearly wrong and should have apologized to the young man. I felt even worse for the boy when I heard the mother say it was his birthday. I went to the car that the kids had gotten in to as I talked to the mother and told her I saw and heard the entire conversation between the two (the young man and the horrid clerk) and that I feel it was terribly wrong what just happened and that I hope this incident would not ruin her son's birthday. I asked her to tell him that I could see he had done nothing wrong and that as sad as it is this is and example of how messed up our world is today and that I could see he was being honest and had done nothing wrong and that I was sorry the clerk had treated him so rudely. She said would I tell him myself and she opened the car door so I could tell the boy myself. There were big tears in this poor young man's eyes. What a rude and unfortunate ending to this young man's birthday. I hope he remembers my words to him that he had done nothing wrong and it was obvious that he was telling the truth. I raised children of my own years ago and can tell when a kid is hiding the truth. I hope this young man had a happy birthday in spite of this bad clerk at 7Eleven and shame, shame, shame on this tall man, probably in his 60s that was rude, interrogated this young man and I am sure put a dark cloud on an otherwise happy day. I hope the owner of this 711 reads this and that some action is taken against this clerk (that has been there other times that I have stopped there). Owner: if you read this, it should be easy for you to figure out who your employee was that wrongly and falsely accused this young man of attempting to steal and lying. The time I was in the store again was a little bit after 8:30 pm on Saturday night 7-29-17. I will not be back to this 711. I will take the extra two or three minutes or so to go into the grocery store two blocks away. ;o((((((((( Shame on that clerk. Shame shame shame on him.
