Okay, I think there's enough for me to give the Downey 7 Leaves Cafe a 4th star, but they still have quite a lot of work to do to garner the 5th star from me. I was planning to check out a weekend pop-up at the Promenade at Downey, and afterwards, I just wanted to chill with a couple of drinks at 7 Leaves. Wait, *a couple* of drinks? Oh yes! I noticed that 7 Leaves had an offer for rewards members: Free Strawberry Hibiscus Tea with a $5 purchase. I could have gotten a couple small bites e.g. macarons with the Strawberry Hibiscus Tea, but I chose to get another refresher: Summer Mint, priced at $5.50. I don't think the offer would have worked inside the cafe, so I placed my order in my car and headed inside after doing so. Previously in the app, I was able to order all the toppings for a complimentary drink at no extra charge, but these days, you're only allowed one complimentary topping; I chose the crystal boba. I needed to use the restroom, so while my drinks were being crafted, the bobarista at the front gave me the six-digit code specifically for the left restroom. Was the right restroom reserved for employees only? Hmm not sure. However, as soon as I punched in the code for the left restroom, it was still locked because another customer was inside. I wouldn't have known if it was occupied or not, so I tried the code on the right restroom. Didn't work. I had to wait for that other customer to exit the restroom before I could punch in the restroom code for the third time. As soon as I left the restroom, I heard the bobarista call out my name, and she handed me my drinks in a takeout bag with a drink carrier holding my drinks. But since there was space on the community table by the front counter, I sat at an open seat there to enjoy my drinks and scroll through my phone. My takeout bag included two straws: one regular, and one boba. I went with the Regular Size Summer Mint since it was already over $5, and 40 oz of refreshing drinks would already be quite a lot in one visit anyways. I also declined on a topping, normally 90 cents, for the Summer Mint because with or without a topping, I would still only earn 6 leaves on my purchase. The Strawberry Hibiscus Tea didn't have any actual strawberry bits, but it did have a slice of lime in it. In the app, you can request extra sweet, but that drink was already inherently quite sweet that I fear if I had chosen extra sweet, it would have been over the top. The Summer Mint had a slice of orange and some basil leaves. It was kind of sour and had quite a citrus-y taste, a stark contrast from the strawberry hibiscus that I alternated sips between the two drinks so that my taste buds wouldn't be bored lol. If you wanted to go extra sweet on this one, I wouldn't recommend against it, but it may take away from the intended flavor of the refresher. For both drinks, I ordered Easy Ice, but I think they went Medium on the ice if that makes sense. It was more than I was expecting, so maybe I should request no ice next time lol. They have a pitcher of water at the front counter, which made me want to finish my drinks inside, and then fill up the cups with some H2O prior to leaving. Unfortunately, they had run out of water, and they didn't refill the pitcher. One thing I do want to mention about the drink carrier is that you need to shove the drinks into the slots. I tried setting my Strawberry Hibiscus Tea back inside, but it toppled over easily. Luckily, it was still sealed at the time, so nothing, or maybe a little bit at best, spilled out. The only negative about my last visit was that there was some little kid who came into the cafe trying to sell paletas to patrons who were studying or getting work done inside. Kind of disruptive to the coffee shop ambience I had sought, but he left after a couple of minutes. Overall, I'd be willing to return for a nice refreshing drink next time I'm in Downey! read more

OMGOSH YES, I recommend this place! There are several 7 Leaves Cafes in the Orange County, CA area, and all have been very good. The drinks aren't so cheap, but I just crave the Thai iced tea. It's more sugar than anyone should have at one sitting, but since it's so good, I still take the chance. The Thai tea is very strong and that mixes well with the cream? half-and-half? sweetened condensed milk? that floats on top. We've also had the iced coffee with sea salt. Talk about a flavor bomb! The iced coffee comes with some kind of cream float on top and has sprinkles of sea salt. Perfection! They charge full price for fancy drinks and omitted ingredients without telling you. So you drive off only to find out your drink tastes weird. Today was no exception. Stand alone store with a Drive Thru. Lots of seatings indoor. Saw a lot of people on their laptops. Service is good & fast. Clean boba place. I had a large order of boba and macaroons! I got the Vietnamese coffee with boba. SO GOOD 10/10 recommend. Coffee flavor is there! My family got matcha with oat milk so good as well. You can really taste the quality of matcha. we also got taro milk, I would get this if I wasn't craving coffee! My other family members got strawberry hibiscus - tastes like the Starbucks dragon fruit however can really taste the tea base. Very good! Another day, another 7 Leaves! It was my first time going to this location since I usually hang out in the OC, but 7 Leaves is my go-to so I had to stop by before going to the movies. PARKING: On a Friday afternoon, there were a good amount of spots near the store, but not sure if that changes later on in the weekend. WHAT I ORDERED: Sea cream jasmine THE DRINKS: Pretty standard! 7 Leaves does a great job at keeping their drink consistent across locations. The tea flavor was nice and strong, and the drink wasn't too sweet. Note that since you can't reduce the sweetness on this one (can only make it sweeter), you can instead order a silver jasmine though it may take longer. The cream was the perfect amount on top with a slight saltiness that complemented the drink well. SERVICE: I mainly wanted to write this review because of my good experience with Sandra. She was so kind and told me about the silver jasmine alternative. Later on, they accidentally made me the wrong drink but Sandra was nice enough to have them make my sea cream jasmine right away, even though I was okay with the drink they made. Thank you for making my day! VIBES: Looks like it was great for working (free wifi and good amount of tables; though not as many tables as some of the OC locations), but my favorite part was the outdoor seating in front which was great for us since we were yapping! Everyone seems to like it! I had the Summer Mint which was just right. The mint wasn't overpowering. The sweetness isn't adjustable, but fruity with passion fruit, green tea, a slice of fresh orange, and infused lotus petals! My friend ordered for us while I used the convenient restroom. When I exited, she said the group was sitting at a table outside. I was thinking: "Oh, no... Outdoor seating..." Actually, the environment isn't humid... And I felt a slight breeze! I always thought this spot didn't have indoor seating because it also had a drive thru. I was wrong. There is so much seating inside!! I let a friend for coffee the other day and was pleasantly surprised as how comfortable it is inside. I ordered a taro milk tea and my friend ordered a mint tea and a savory bun! Overall, simple experience in ordering (either at the loudspeaker or thru the mobile app) and grabbing the drinks to go. The workers are amzing and nice but it's clear the company doesn't care about them as they have them standing outside in the heat to take orders through the drive thru. For the last few weeks, when I pull up to the drive thru, they have a worker sitting outside in the heat to take orders. We've had 90+ degree days and they have people outside - why would they put people through this? Parking lot is huge as they are located in a large mall. Jasmine Milk Tea at 75% was much too sweet for me, I'll definitely order 50% next time. Honey boba was delicious! At first it was a lil mushy, but once the drink sat in ice for a while, the Honey Boba firmed up and developed that amazingly bouncy texture that Taiwanese drinks are known for. Let me just start by saying: 1.) I've never been to a 7 Leaves Cafe before. (Shame on me apparently!) and 2.) Only ended up here because my sister raves about it and was craving it. This location has a drive-thru which is perfect for people like me who hate getting out of the car for food orders. So, she orders her usual which is grande Green Thai Tea w/ Honey Boba, sub soy milk. We get to the window and we are greeted by a team member named Noah, who is extremely polite, super friendly and impressively knowledgeable about the items they offer and what drinks might appeal to a craving one may have. He also was attentive and noticed I had a badge on although I was in the passenger seat and let us know that in the future to let him know they give discounts to service/community workers. He proceeds to hand us my sisters order and let us know they accidentally made the first one with the wrong type of milk and had an extra. Seeing as I've never had 7 Leaves before, I agreed to take it off his hands. Let me just tell you(!)... This is by far better than any drink I've had at Starbucks or any other tea place. My tea was very flavorful, perfect amount of sweetness without being overdone and the boba was fresh. You could tell it wasn't from earlier in the day. I've been coming to this coffee regularly for the past two years, and my experience has been consistently excellent. Unlike what others have claimed, I've never encountered flaky service or declining quality--in fact, it's remained one of the most reliable spots in the area. The drinks are always well-crafted, never watered down, and I've never had ingredients missing. If anything ever seems off, they're quick to make it right. Customer service here is top tier. Cashiers are extremly patient and helpful. One employee in particular goes above and beyond--checking in on guests who are studying, offering water without being asked, and working tirelessly across stations. That kind of initiative is rare and deserves recognition. I also don't expect the owner or manager to be on-site every hour. I've never felt like my feedback would be ignored. The team clearly values customer loyalty and works hard to maintain a welcoming environment. Pricing is more than fair for the quality and service you get. And regarding alternatives--aside from the next 7 Leaves, there really aren't any comparable options nearby that offer this level of consistency, comfort, and care. Please be advised of false testinomials that seek to damage the reputation of an excellent experience. read more
