I stayed around Irvine during my trip to Cali and this was the closest location to us. I went about 3-4 times during my week long stay. I often get the House coffee which is a remixed version of the ca phe sua da. They add cream and sweetness to it so it's not super bitter like ca phe sua da. It is super sweet, but I sure as heck would take it over bitter. When I want something not as sweet I like their sea cream black coffee. My first time having it was on this trip, and I really like the mix of sweet and salty that isn't too ~heavy~ like their house special is. When I don't want to be caffeinated, I get the mung bean milk tea. It is normally very sweet, so I usually like to cut the sugar on it. It tastes like che in drink form and is so so good! Every time I came to this location, I was greeted incredibly fast and by multiple people! They always offered samples if I needed, and were super nice and patient (I was always ordering 5+ drinks for family). The drinks at 7 Leaves are pretty much always good and this is my go-to milk tea chain in SoCal. This Irvine location in my personal opinion is almost as good as the Cypress location (where I moved from) taste-wise, except for the few times they had issues with ice. One time, I asked for less ice and the ice was still filled to 3/4 of the cup. Fortunately, the manager agreed that that was a mistake on their part and provided a credit for my next drink. Another time, I opted for no ice for the second time I ordered their House Coffee through their app, and they only gave half of the drink (the other half of the cup was empty). I don't think reducing the ice on the House Coffee should be an option offered by the location if the drink is going to be left with such a big gap, as that is poor branding for a customer to receive their drink that way. There should at least be a disclaimer on the app when ordering that a customer will be receiving their drink with a large gap when opting for no ice. Other than the issues mentioned above with ice/no ice/ less ice, the drinks are tasty and I am leaving 4 stars for the location being clean, convenient, and my love for the general 7 Leaves chain! read more

I love going to 7 leaves whenever going up to Irvine or LA area. It's located in a plaza with other restaurants as well! The oolong milk tea is suuuuper good! Let me start off this review by saying that 7leaves has been my favorite boba place in Irvine for many years and I have sung its praises to anyone with an ear. However, my most recent experience here left a lot to be desired. Previously the service at 7leaves has been great, the staff are usually friendly and would go out of their way to make sure you felt welcome. This experience was the exact opposite. I will say that I went in with a large party, some of which took some time to think about what they wanted. As a result we were standing off to the side of the register for some time but always had someone ordering at any point. Also keep in mind that these are young middle school girls so they just tend to look uncertain at some times. Anyway, the cashier asked us to move to the other side of the store if we weren't going to order which I understand because it was quite a busy day. However we didn't go to the other side because we were going to order. Then the cashier called the person behind our group to cut in front of us and take our order. When he finally addressed us, it was with "Oh are you guys finally ready to order?" Like yes, we have been and there was no need to pull that man in front of us. This seemed very unprofessional, especially since he didn't even acknowledge that he purposefully pulled someone ahead to cut in front of us. I will chalk this up to needing to be trained or having a frustrating day since it seemed very crowded and chaotic in the back. Drink: Ordered the house coffee with light ice. It definitely did not have light ice, just a normal amount so I had to take off the lid and scoop the ice out. Other than that the drink was tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

I like the fact that they have a simple, straight-up menu without the dessert-like options that other boba place have. Sometimes, simplicity and no-frills is a good thing. For example, In-n-Out burger have a simple business model and kept the same menu for over 25 years. Their business is still going strong. It's unfortunate that many boba shops are taking over in Irvine now so I get that the competition is rough. I've been here less and less but yesterday's experience with food and drinks will stop us from returning altogether. 1. Drinks: My husband and I ordered taro and strawberry hibiscus and both drinks came with 3/4 ice and not even filled up. I was also disappointed by the watered down taste. I've ordered both drinks before and enjoyed them but yesterday was just different. Quality has definitely gone down. (Other members in our party also said similarly they were disappointed with the ice to liquid ratio and one even said the drink was way too sweet). 2. Food: My friend ordered macarons and she has a gluten intolerance that requires her to have a strict diet. Normally she orders macarons because they're made with almond flour but yesterday she didn't think to ask and had a bite. In the end she had a horrible night sleeping and is still dealing with the consequence of possible gluten contamination from the macarons. When we called, even the staff had no idea if there was gluten in their macarons and in the end just said "I guess there is". Shouldn't you be aware of ingredients in your food? Ordered a to go of the mung bean drink with boba online via the link guided to me by google. It was a bit pricey ($6.85) probably due to the service fees but so worth it because it was ready 10 minutes before my expected time and I skipped the line! This was like 7:30pm on a weeknight and the kbbq spot across the parking lot was popping so I was scared of the line I might find. Mung bean drink is DELICIOUS (especially if you're a pandan fanatic like myself). I generally go to 7 leaves for the sea cream coffee but it was much too late to order that, and I'm glad I didn't because I forgot the gem of this unique boba drink. It's nicely sweet, creamy and strong all in one. This location is very consistent when it comes to their coffee. I say this because other locations don't make their house coffee consistently good. The seal on the cups, haha, that is what is inconsistent but more of an inconvenience than a major complaint. I like that they have a mobile refrigerated shelving system that keeps your drinks cool for you. It's labeled alphabetically too so it's easy to tell where your drink is or should be. Pretty disappointed with their customer service skills. I ordered a drink and asked for light ice and when I got my drink it was more than half filled with ice. I asked her if she took my modification and she said, "Yes but that normally people like their drinks cold." Upon ordering I already told her that I didn't want too much ice because I have to get back to work and I'm just going to place it in my fridge at work and that I didn't want it to melt and become watered down. Their drinks here are way too sweet as is, and the only way to adjust the sweetness is to say "easy sweet" unlike other places that give you the option of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% sweet. Even when I ordered my mung bean milk tea with easy sweet, it was way too sweet. I tried my husband's Thai tea, and it was also extremely sweet... and it didn't taste like authentic Thai tea. Haven't had 7 leaves in so long! I had the oolong milk tea with oat milk & the tea did not disappoint! It has a rich and deep tea flavor. The boba was bouncy and had a good chew. I love the fact that you could ask for a sample of the drinks! That's like a new concept to me as I have only seen that for like bakery goods and not drinks! The place isn't too big, but you would walk in, pictures of their most popular drinks are on the right side, bathroom hidden towards the back, counter on your left, and four seats on the side. They didn't have a vast selection of drinks, but I believe it's because they focused mainly on the drinks listed to perfect the taste. One of the drinks I sampled was Mung Bean - which basically is its name, tasting more on the milkier side. It wasn't overwhelming sweet, but I would definitely be game to get it next time I visit as we opted for something more fruity this time - Strawberry Hibiscus. Thai tea seemed to be their top seller and was a bit too sugary for me but was good. Herbal tea was light and refreshing as well. Cute place and didn't have a bad time. Had slight AC running, and the place could get crowded quite quickly in spurts as it's not too far away from UC Irvine. This was my first time ever having seven leaves and I was a little hesitant about trying it. My friends know how much I like coffee but I'm very particular about how I like it - strong and sweet! So when my girls recommended the house coffee, I had to give it a try. I also ordered a craffle-croissant waffle. Both were REALLLLY good. The waffle croissant was fresh and soft and the icing that it came with really complemented it. It went really well with the house coffee. I didn't know what to expect with the house coffee, but after reading the description of the hazlenut in it, I was actually really surprised that I liked it because I'm not a big fan of hazelnut. I wish they had one down in San Diego. It was soooooooo good. We came back on the drive down and I asked about the half gallon to take home. Unfortunately I don't think that $28 is worth a half gallon of coffee but I'll definitely be back for that coffee fix! read more

This is one of my favorite boba shops in the area! I love how they've updated their systems to get rewards on your phone rather than having a stamp card. Unfortunately they weren't able to add the stamps I already had onto the app but it's okay. They're always so nice here and very fast at getting orders out. I ordered a summer mint to drink tonight - 10/10 !! my new go-to. it has real orange slices, mint leaves, & is made w passionfruit & green tea. LOVE IT !! I was scared about the mint being overpowering but it actually compliments the fruit so well. what really stood out was the sunset passion that I ordered to drink tomorrow. (I'm an addict, I know) I decided to get no ice so I can leave it in the fridge and add ice later, but when I got my order, my summer mint was sealed & ready to drink & my sunset passion had a seal AND cap !! (& can we acknowledge how it's filled to the top!?) I'm not sure if this is a norm for them, but did the barista read my mind? It's a little thing but it really made my night. I always had trouble saving boba drinks because they're sealed & I'd have to open the seal & add ice & it's a whole mess but I'm so glad they added a cap without even asking me. I usually get the Assam Milk Tea as it has the perfect amount of milkiness and sweetness if you're not feeling for just plain Milk Tea. If you are looking for something fruiter and lighter, their Sunset Passion does not disappoint either. I also love their Matcha Soy which is a crowd favorite. You can also ask for samples if you really can't make your mind up. The cashier can also give you suggestions based on your personal preferences. You can also adjust all sweetness and ice levels. They also have plenty of toppings to add into your teas. They also sell pastries such as Cream Pan's strawberry croissants, macarons, and even sandwiches. I really love this place because it will take me about 5 minutes to get my order in and out and I'll be on my way! The workers are also super friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have. There are 2 different lines: mobile pick-up orders to the left and in-store order line to the right. When I went, there was not a long line, so luckily it went by smoothly and quickly. I got the Strawberry Hibiscus Tea and it was really good and refreshing. I could definitely taste the hibiscus. I've also tried the Vietnamese Coffee before, and it was pretty strong and really sweetened. The store is pretty small, so one person goes in to order and then they bring in the next person as everyone waits outside. All the employees were wearing masks and gloves and the cashier lady was also very nice and welcoming. Out of ~20 orders in the past half year, 3 were downright awful. They were watered down and lacked the yummy bits of taro that were usually mixed in. 7 Leaves Cafe is starting to pop up everywhere and the wife and I wanted to stop by and give it a try before heading up to LA. Parking was horrible and there was already a short line forming about 5:00PM. I love passion fruit so I ordered the Sunset Passion and my wife ordered the 7 Leaves Herbal Tea. The sunset passion was good but a little bit on the sweeter side. I would have preferred it to be more natural and cater more to the sourness of the fruit. But I love that they were using real passion fruit and their seeds instead of the typical artificial flavoring used at other places. It seemed like they added Li Hing Mui powder in it too to give it some tartiness. As for the 7 Leaves Herbal Tea, I was able to taste the bitterness of the Herbs but my wife complained about it being too sweet and didn't like the fact we weren't able to change the sweetness level of the Sunset Passion and Herbal Tea. 7 Leaves is a decent drink place but I don't think I will be making any further special stops to just get a drink from them. read more
