Honey & Butter Macarons is the cutest little shop! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendliest staff. Since it was my first visit and I had no idea which flavors to choose, one of the sweet staff members took the time to recommend different macarons and helped me pick the perfect assortment. Their kindness made the whole experience even more special. Every single macaron was beyond delicious--perfectly soft, incredibly creamy, and bursting with flavor. You can really taste the quality in every bite. It's honestly hard to pick a favorite because they were all so good! The shop itself has such an adorable aesthetic, and even the packaging is absolutely beautiful. I was so caught up enjoying the experience that I completely forgot to take pictures of the shop, the packaging, and the macarons themselves! My 4-year-old daughter was so excited to be there and loved every minute of it. It turned into such a fun little outing for both of us. We can't wait to come back and try even more flavors. One of the differences that I do see compared to when I first visited them in Costa Mesa to now is that the macarons are now humongous compared to before. If we bought a dozen macarons in the past, we'd annihilate the box within a couple days. Now, a dozen macarons take us maybe half a week to get through. I've had their macarons a few days later and it's still as yummy as the fresh ones. Kept in fridge to keep it moist and bring it out an hour before devouring it, so it can be room temperature. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Irvine, and the place really hasn't changed much since. I guess the only real change is now the store is about 1/2 the size I remember it to be, as a portion of the store is now sectioned off. The flavors and the macarons are still as I remember them, tasty with the unique flavors! The macarons are crisp and soft, the filling, of course, isn't too sweet and perfectly brings out the flavor of the flavor of macaron without tasting artificial. I also love how they still do the cute boxes, but definitely a lot pricier than I remember them to be. Talking about stepping into another dimension ............... It was like walking into a store in an animation town: I was on happiness overload. My store pics don't do justice to the vibrant colors. Naively, I didn't realize there were so many different types of macarons. And more sadly, I didn't realize how good a macaron could be. As you can see from my pic we had just two: Oreo and Crème Brulee. But I don't think you could go wrong with any other selection. As you can see from my pic, they are relatively small - no super-size ones in the case. But they were super-sized in overall yum.
