Both dishes I tried were from the Bright & Balanced section and absolutely delivered. The Sweet Potato Veggie Smash Up was the highlight for me. The sweet potato halves were roasted to absolute perfection -- the texture was so buttery and tender it felt like eating mashed sweet potato, even though they were simply sliced. The pickled red onions provided just the right tangy contrast to the natural sweetness, and the asparagus was incredibly thin and snappy -- no stringiness whatsoever. I ordered the smoked burrata to start. The balance between the candied pistachio, artichoke pesto, and wagyu cecina really created a well balanced and unexpected dish. The burrata was creamy and the salty and sweet components balanced the aged sherry gastrique and made for an incredible intro to a beautiful performance by the chefs. Next was another small dish, which I wish I remembered the description for (I need to bring a little notebook with me), but it was a perfect segue into the next course, the ibérico presa. Wow. Just wow. White asparagus has got to be one of my favorite vegetables next to artichokes, when done exceptionally well, as they most definitely were. The piquillo peppers and pickled shallots complemented the pork, which was so soft, perfectly. I definitely died and went to heaven at this point in the meal. My wife and I stopped into Steuben's to have a snack (donut holes) and a couple of rounds of cocktails. We used the Dining Out Passbook for BOGO cocktails with purchase of food. Our bartender (who was perfectly friendly and helpful) said he needed his manager to get the free cocktail. To be clear, we had literally no interaction with this woman at any point. So it's not like we did something to piss her off. When she arrived at the POS station - behind the bar about six feet from where we were sitting - she proceeded to complain about the "a-holes" (edited for language) using the Passbook and what a bunch of a-holes those customers were (not knowing we were in earshot). And when the bartender - who knew who we were and that we could hear everything - said in a hushed tone "No, they were nice" she proceeded to tell him that she didn't care and that they're just a-holes. I've never been treated so shoddy in my life in a restaurant for no other reason than using a promotional discount that they voluntarily participated in. It's bad enough to attack your customers for using a discount. But doing it behind the bar where customers can hear you is beyond unacceptable. And doing it when the customers you're talking about are within earshot is the most offensive thing I've ever expereinced at a restaurant. You may go to Steuben's and have a nice meal, but just be aware that behind the bar, they're talking about what an a-hole you are.

This location is a little bigger than some of the others I've been to, with plenty of high tops and some regular tables. The interior is dark, but it works in this setting. I know there are a lot of things on the menu, but I always go for the vegan creamy miso ramen, with no spice. And a side of mushrooms (kikurage) and fresh garlic. The noodles are perfectly al dente and the broth with the toppings just works. The only small downside on this visit was that the restaurant wasn't busy, yet the wait staff kind of forgot about us. But it all worked out, so it wasn't a big deal.
