Came into the city early to meet with a friend for brunch; decided to pop into this coffee shop as I walked by. It was warm, welcoming, and the baristas behind the counter were friendly and chatty; a very rare find in the city lately. Latin pop music, leather comfy seats and a colorful warming atmosphere makes up the cafe. So I tried regualr cortado in the morning along with empanada and rum flavored latte i.e. Coquito in the afternoon. I wanted to get the full experience. Empanada was nice and meaty, but felt it was pricey. Cortado was again to the point, nothing fancy to rave about. However their rum flavored latte was rather disappointing. The price point of $15 for a coffee you get a flavored coffee which is not very flavorful. I bucket this as one of those touristy places for fun but missing the tru essence of coffee. Service was fast and polite in the morning, but in the afternoon it was awfully slow. They messed up an order before me which took time. The person in register is nice and that's all fine but there's not a visible menu, I assume you can only access that online. Also the matcha I had only really tasted like milk. Im giving four stars for my overall experience. Five stars for the customer service. I wasn't happy with the flavor of my coffee not knowing it would have raw flakes of coconut in it. Maybe we just caught this place at a bad time? There were a couple of people waiting for their drinks when we arrived, no big deal. One employee took the order of the one person in line ahead of us, then took off to deliver pastries or something. We stood there for nearly ten minutes and he didn't return. There was another employee making coffee, but he was too busy with that job to take orders. Another customer came in after us and needed to order as well. We told him we didn't know where the cashier had gone. The employee making coffee seemed not to notice that there were customers who needed to order. Eventually we just left without ordering because no one was there to take an order. This was a Sunday, late morning. You'd think they could have more than 2 people working at a time. All the 1 star reviews are from transplants or cheapos. Coffee here is a bit steep but it seems fairly standard--especially for New York. $9 for a "cup" that is around 8-12oz is not that much more expensive than any other coffee shops that are around Midtown. Not to mention the flavors are amazing! The Mazapán is my favorite! Nutty but sweet, just like me. I've been to their FiDi location, which is a bit smaller in terms of seating, but the flavors are consistent! The staff is nice and it's a great place to get your work done. I would recommend this place (but don't come here all at once--I still want to be able to find an empty seat). The only thing I would deduct points for is their lack of milk alternatives (only whole milk and oat). Luckily, I am both lactose and gluten intolerant so I don't have to struggle with making a choice. I will suffer either way. 10/10! read more

Unfortunately, the coffee was disappointing--it didn't live up to the hype and didn't even meet regular coffee standards. The cookie was dry, and overall the experience fell flat. When I walked in I really liked the vibe of the cafe, it has a lot of Puerto Rican influence. You can sit down and chat or you can also study here. There's two levels with tables and sofas. The WiFi is on the wall in both floors. I ordered a matcha with dulce de leche syrup? and my friend got the horchata drink. If you get the matcha, just know that it's unsweetened and you can pick from the 3 syrups to make it sweet. Honestly even with the syrup it is very bland and grainy. I don't think they use high quality matcha here, just look at the pics. My friend liked her drink so I would recommend getting that one. The service was good overall, very friendly. You order on first level and there are some seating areas on that floor. Then you go upstairs and it's little different sections of seating arrangements. There are some table and chairs, there is a corner that has cushions and what looks to be bean bags to sit on. Then there is a little corner that has swinging chairs two of them with a table in between them. This floor is very cozy and is great place to enjoy some coffee or hot cocoa on cold days. Nice vibe in this out of the way spot between 7th and 8th. Amazing they have enough seating area to actually stay a while. Two floors of space has plenty of room with various seating choices including bean bags, tables, high back chairs and even a swing. Yes, you read that right. It's a bit bohemian for my taste, does not look well kept, but nice. The wait to get coffee was extremely long, but! The coffee was great. It was actually infused with some non-alcoholic rum of which you get hints in the coffee itself. Whatever they did, it works. Best part was the service.
