From the moment we walked in, Jackie and Sofie were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely excited to help us decide what to try. I went to the 327 Park Ave shop which was literally right across the street from my hotel. The shop interior had this old time coffee shop vibe, decorated perfectly. Gregory's is especially convenient to meet friends and relatives from out of town. I love the taste of their coffee. This location is close to my daughter's office when she has time to meet up with me. Gregory's offers gluten free and vegan pastries. To me it's the vibe of cheers in most of their neighborhood locations. It's clean and comfortable. I don't have a Gregory's location close to my home. I love Gregory's so much and have been coming here for years because they're super vegan friendly. Yes they have TWO savory breakfast options - a burrito and a croissant sandwich. We had gone on a date with my husband, and we were so into our conversation that we noticed we kept walking around. It was cold so we were passing by Gregory's coffee and decided to pop on in. The coffee shop was clean and organized. The pastries were displayed as you walk in. We were taken care of right away. My chocolate croissant was good but the coffee loaf cake my husband got was a little hard. They hadn't offered to warm it otherwise I would have asked them too. But the coffee was very good and loved the design he had done. The bathroom was clean but the hand soap dispensar wasn't working but I always carry a small hand sanitizer. Ive been meaning to come to Gregorys for years and finally made it in. Honestly left a bit of a sour impression on me, though perhaps if I do go there again ( perhaps a different location) my opinion might change. So I spent a whopping $9 (!!) for what seems a small (it's allegedly 12oz actually) cup of Caramel cold brew coffee. I even paid extra 60 cent for 'no ice' only for them to put the ice in anyways. The staff doesnt seem be friendly or approachable either. I asked if the seemingly pickup area was indeed the puckup area and the whoever girl was at the register at that time came off as either annoyed or rude or non chalant at best. You might want to at least put up a sign for people to know where the pickup spot is bcs there's 0 indication of it and get a better staff while you're at it especially considering this place is outrageously priced for what it is. I mean, I get cheaper in Starbucks, imagine that. Total turnoff. read more

I came to the city for a day trip and I also have a meeting scheduled for late this afternoon. This cafe was right along my path, and very close to the train station from where I arrived. It was very busy like most of the other places located right here in downtown. I ordered a match a latte and it was just what the doctor ordered. I actually got up at 4:30am to arrive here on time. So yes I lacked a little bit of sleep and the match a latte will hopefully help me get to my fullest energy. I shared a table with a stranger, and it was just fine, and I think a couple of other people were doing the same. This is a pretty cool cafe, and I didn't realize that they exist in several cities. Yum!! I was in desperate need for some caffeine and was intrigued by their cold brews. I got the smashing pumpkin cold brew with cold foam and omg so delicious and creamy! I am a pumpkin girlie but am usually not a fan of pumpkin drinks because they tend to be super sweet or taste way too artificial. Not this one! The coconut almond bite was ok but had a weird aftertaste. The service was good, not great. I waited for some time for the breakfast sandwich. After patronizing the Starbucks down the street a few times, I thought I'd try the local guys. Why not right? For the record, this was probably the second-best cup of coffee I had during five days in New York. But the process of getting the coffee was the reason this review is three stars. I repeated myself and she said, "It's pretty dark...." OK whatever, I give up. I ordered two dark coffees with a lot of cream and then a green tea for my throat. I paid and then scooted down to wait for my drinks. And I waited. And I waited. While I was waiting, I watched the following: -Giant snafu at the counter because no one knew which breakfast sandwich belonged to whom and everyone was trying to take the right food. -Uber Eats driver waiting forever for her order -Woman who asked for a cup of water being told she had to wait and then being served a cup of water with no ice and no lid -Several people like me wondering where their food was -The barista repeatedly telling people they keep the milk and cream and stuff behind the counter due to COVID When I finally asked about my drinks, I was told that they had to brew a new container. THEN they served the woman who ordered after me HER dark coffee and made me wait longer, I guess because I ordered two? Whatever. By that point I was pretty annoyed. There were three employees and it seemed like one did the register, one made drinks and the other made food. If you asked any of them for anything that was not in their area, they kind of just didn't help you. It was pretty crappy service honestly. And what coffee place doesn't have coffee ready to go and brewed in the morning? Anyway, it was delicious coffee. I just hated the service. Proof of vaccination is all you need for a seat at this establishment -- if you can find one. There was a steady stream of customers during the time I was there and a few customers were lingering at tables with laptops in tow. My regular drip coffee with oat milk was smooth and delicious. The vegan burrito (with JUST egg, Beyond Breakfast Sausage, Daiya Cheddar Cheese, potatoes, pepper and onions) was the combo I never knew I needed. So tasty! Inventory is under tight control here. This isn't one of those coffee shops with a self-serve station where you can add cream and sugar to your coffee and grab a ton of napkins. The milk, oat milk, creamer etc are stored in a refrigerator behind the counter. My beverage turned lukewarm once the cold oat milk was added. I prefer hot coffee, so I had to resist the urge to hand the cup back to the cashier and ask him to heat it up. Perhaps I can ask for my coffee extra hot next time to avoid this situation. I had to ask the barista for napkins and she promptly handed me two. I used one to wipe the crumbs off the table and the other to use for myself. Cons aside, this place is a good alternative to Starbucks and has better tasting coffee and food. read more

Gregory's my favorite chain (that feels more like a locally-owned coffee shop) in the New York/New Jersey area. Don't get me wrong, I will never not admit to loving Starbucks but if there's a Gregory's in the area I will always go there, even if it's a little bit pricier. There's many reasons but the top 2: CBD coffee drinks and superb vegan breakfast sandwiches that I typically order in the late afternoon when I'm my way to a work event. Years ago, I swore Gregory's strawberry CBD-infused latte about saved my sanity when I was trying to resolve the fact that someone had stolen my house closing costs from me while also leading a work conference at the same time. CBD lattes in the morning helped me keep my calm. This past holiday season they introduced the diving mistletoe kiss latte, which has peppermint, orange zest, oat milk (they always have an oat milk drink that you don't have to order special unless you're looking to switch to dairy. I like that) and CBD. So delicious! And in the pre Holiday season, AKA autumn, there's the Fall Oat Boy which depending on the temps, I'll get iced because it's that good iced. My favorite sandwich is the Vegan Deluxe which comes on a chia seed croissant that is unbelievably buttery and has Just Egg, Beyond Sausage and Daiya cheese. I also love their vegan BEC (something about that plant-based bacon is just so satisfying). The Beyond Flex comes on focaccia and is a bit more hearty. It's my understanding that there are so many dedicated plant-based options because Gregory, himself (yes, he looks like their logo) is vegan. And perhaps it's Gregory's presence and social media that makes this chain feel more personal than the others. read more
