    White pizza.

This was my first time at this location. I was smitten with my experience at the other location and was hopeful for a repeat. Sadly lighting did not strike twice in this scenario. We ordered take out and was told it would take 10-15 minutes. The order took nearly 45 minutes . I ordered a red cheese pizza, a white cheese pizza and chick pea salad. The pizza crust was good. It's a thin crust with the perfect amount of crispness to it. Things went downhill from there. The cheese was burnt. Very burnt. The flavor profile was nonexistent and the sauce was just ok. The chick pea salad was delicious. I was underwhelmed by this experience and won't return here.

This review is just based on their red pizzas! I would love to come back and try other things on their menu. 8 1/2 is a super charming takeout Italian spot. It's ideal for warm days so you can take your food to picnic in Scuffletown. I've only ever ordered a red pizza here with toppings when I've visited. I had a blast doing this once with my mom and partner. This week, I decided to spend my lunch break with a friend having pizza. We ordered a red pizza with spinach and sausage. Our bill came out to about $26. It took about 35 minutes for the pizza to be ready so we went on a walk while we waited. There were about three seats to sit at too if you prefer to wait in the restaurant. When our pizza was ready, they offered us napkins and red pepper flakes. We took our pizza to the park to enjoy! It's nice to see how fresh the pizza's are. It's slightly greasy, but thin crusted. 8 1/2 also has a lot of delicious Italian pantry goods for purchase as well as wine. It's a pretty small space on the customer end, which is fine for a takeout spot! If you don't mind that things are on the pricier side, this is a nice spot to get take out for a scuffletown picnic.

3.5 stars. I'm on the search for the best pizza in Richmond, so wanted to give this place a try! Mostly because i've had the pleasure of smelling their pies every time I pass to get some scoops ice cream. Once inside, this place is solely for takeout. There possibly might've been a chair, but I cant be 100% sure. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with arugula salad to take home. Pizza was about ~$17 I think. Pizza was that thin, more Neapolitan style that I usually like. Flavor was pretty good. Arugula salad was just that. A take out box of arugula which made me feel a little silly for ordering. I think if you rank it among take-out places, it's a good pizza. But for the how overpriced it is and the fact that you don't really have the option to sit there and eat it, I think i'm still on the search for a better pie in Richmond! I might come back to try some of their other items though.

Calzone, i added my own seasonings on top bc of how bland it was, but didnt help much

Disappointed and Overpriced - Worst Calzone We've Ever Had We were really excited to try this place because of all the high reviews, but were sorely disappointed. I ordered the calzone, which set me back $20, and honestly, it wasn't even that big. The biggest letdown was the filling--it was absolutely stuffed with ricotta and barely had any mozzarella. When I cut into it, there was zero cheese pull, just a bland, flavorless mess of ricotta. The marinara sauce that came with it was delish, but it was way too oily imo. The bread had an okay taste, but the texture was a huge fail--it was soggy and soft, not crispy at all. It seriously felt like it had been microwaved. Given how busy the restaurant was when I arrived, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened. I don't understand how this place has such high ratings. This was hands down the worst calzone I've ever had. I plan on reaching out to the restaurant to see if they'll make this right, because $20 for this was just ridiculous. Edit: We reached out to the restaurant, the manager was very polite, understanding, and listened to my concerns, which i greatly appreciate, and he refunded the order

I've been coming to 8 1/2 for over 12 years and it's always wonderful. Anything you try, it's going to be amazing! The pizzas are incredible and I'm obsessed with the arugula salad. I didn't get the lasagna this time, but that is also absolutely delicious. give it a try!!

Doesn't really look good. Ordered the Reuben and onion rings to share. Reuben's are typically very large. This was a small Reuben and for sure could have eaten the entire thing. Onion rings were a bit soggy and table didn't like their fries either. The Reuben, though small, was very good. Service was quick and waitress was nice. The place is quite expensive for wha you get. We got 3 sandwiches, 2 with fries and 1 with onion rings, 2 waters and a sprite. It was $52. I think that is a bit high especially looking at size of sandwich but the were delicious.

The food is always spot-on. I have had several opportunities to go in on weekdays as well. The general vibe is slower, though the food comes out fast. Always several clusters of retirees and several pairs of business folks talking in hushed tones. On these days, even if you haven't been in in months they make you feel like a regular. This is Yelp, so I need to recommend a few things to order. Their chef salad is HUGE. The club sandwich is a great offering. And the one you'll skip over but shouldn't is the Adkins Special, which is 3 eggs and 2 meats (or 2x one meat) -- no bread, no fruit, no potatoes. Sometimes you just need to go all proteins! Anyway, all of these are great options. Also, their "numbered" deli sandwiches are all good choices. We remain regulars. Although I have only checked in about 40 times we are there at least twice a month. If you see me come say hi!

We went to this place for the first time tonight and OMG‼…read more RUN....do not walk to the New York Deli!!! It's right next to the Byrd Theater so it was perfect for dinner after a movie. Our server was Braxton, a delightful young lady. She was witty and a diligent server and all the things...and she did not steer us wrong when it came to the food. My husband and I both had a taste for ordering an Italian sub and Braxton said we would not be sorry if we ordered it, and we were not. I was literally moaning with almost every bite. I am a potato salad connoisseur. I will not eat it unless it is freshly made. I don't do any of the grocery store type of potato salads. (Gross!) I asked Braxton about it and she said that in general, she doesn't even like potato salad, but at this restaurant, she absolutely loves it and highly recommends it. Knowing it is freshly made on site, plus her recommendation, I decided to try it. Oh my word! This potato salad is straight from the portals of heaven. Sooooooo good. This might not seem like a big deal, but it's a very big deal to me. I like freshly brewed tea. Nothing bottled. Nothing out of a soda machine. (Disgusting!) I asked Braxton if the tea was actually brewed there and she said yes. Tea is not the same everywhere. Sometimes it's so weak, you don't even realize it's tea. Not here! It was perfect. This makes a huge difference to me as when my beverage is perfect, I enjoy my meal a lot more. The entire meal was top notch. The service was absolutely excellent. We loved having Braxton and would ask for her again. A DJ was setting up as we were eating. We learned that they have karaoke and trivia nights earlier in the week as well as dance nights on the weekends. My husband and I mentioned that we would definitely come back and bring friends. I loved my experience here and it could not have been made any better by anything.
