This place is really fun. For people that like to occasionally go to a bar, not to get drunk but to have something to do late night, listen to music, and be around adults (versus bowling alley full of shrieking teens) this is a great option. There are so many old games that I remember playing for hours 30 years ago. It's a bar but you can do more than just sit at a table or bar and stare at each other. They seem to have beer only along with some "adult" red slush, soda, and possibly a few other non-alcoholic drinks. They also make pizzas. They have a lot of games that I once played on Atari, as well as mortal kombat, racing games, and pinball. The music is good as well. They have a machine for quarters and I think I also noticed ATM. The staff is pretty friendly. In one old Atari game I lost three quarters. I was sort of assuming that was just a risk to be taken with such old games and I might get a shrug of shoulders from staff. That was not the case. One bartender came to help is out. He got all our quarters back and helped us to get the game to work. We got a free game. It was really nice of him to help us get the game working. This was a fun place and most games were only a quarter which sounds cheap but if you haven't played these games for 30 years like me it will take you some time to adjust to these old controls. read more

Awesome arcade. Over 20 pinball machines and 40 arcade cabinets. Many old favorites, and some interesting ones from before my time that I had never gotten the chance to see. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out if you're in the area. The only larger arcade I've been to is Gameworks in Seattle, which while fun, is extraordinarily more expensive and pain to travel to and find parking at. 8-Bit just opened up, so their food/drink menu is a little limited. They have some good microbrews on tap, angry orchard/bud light in cans, and small-ish pizzas for a little over $10. They did say that they will soon be offering milkshakes for that full retro experience, as well as other food offerings (hopefully in smaller portions.) read more

Environment is awesome. Service and food... Not so much. The pizza here is very thin and poor quality. Border line frozen pizza from the grocery store. Service at the bar was sub par. Bartender left for 4 or 5 minutes to play a game of pinball. Had to get bartenders attention to pay bill. Otherwise we would've sat there for another 10 minutes. The only reason I will revisit this location is because of the great selection of arcade games and the 5 dollar beers on tap. If that's all your looking for, than this isn't a bad place to visit. I hang out here way too often. Normally spend $5 in quarters and $8 to $10 on two beers. Great games. Pinball is a blast and they bring in new games often. The arcade has some many good games from the 80s. It truly makes me happy when I am there. Not much in the way of food. Non of the arcades had food when I was growing up. So, not a big deal, walk across the street to The Local (same owner) if you want something to eat. read more

Brought my 9 year old sis and 14 year old brother, they loved it! Although they don't have a BIG selection of food, it does not matter. My brother and sister absolutely love playing all the games they have to offer! You got to give it up to anyone that opens an arcade these days. With all the ways to game today you could emulate or recreate everything at home with the exception of pinball. I'm old school, I remember when there was a Sears in Renton and next to a place called Command Center. They had most of the same games, the only difference is back then, they were brand new. I have a few issues with this place, but none that are so severe that I wouldn't consider returning, but at the same time, I feel like my 3 star review is slightly generous, but as they say in baseball, tie goes to the runner, so I leaned from 2.5 to 3. Here is what I like most about 8-Bit: 1) Open late, not really my play anymore, but you never know when a sleepless night might turn into a pocketful of fun. 2) Location, every city could use a spot like this, but something tells me that the combination of community and lower overhead made this the place for this space. Here is what drives me nuts. 1) The young punks! Yes, you 22 year old fresh out of college with your hat on backwards with your cute girlfriend who is only with you because she doesn't know better, I got better things to do that wait for you to move your loud conversation away from the change machine so I can stock up, or bumping into me while I'm trying to go supersonic on an all night Defender run. Have some respect and stop crowding me. 2) Pricing. When this place opened almost everything was a quarter and the $.50 game was rare, now most games appears to be $.50, and some of course are $.75 or 3/$2 Come on, I want to keep you around, but you are taking in mad cash, don't gouge me on price. What this place is really begging for is one night a week where you game for one price. Picture Tuesday, 8- close, all you can game for $10, only let in one person per machine and once you walk out, you're done. That is really fair and let's be honestly, anyone gaming more than 2 hours is rare, you will max out your machines for 6 hours. Great way to create more buz. read more

The 8Bit Arcade opened 11/22 and people have already begun checking it out! 78 new and classic arcade and pinball machines await your pleasure! Beer and wine are served (specialty brews from Big Al Brewing, I might add!), and food is also available, though the sports bar across the street is reputed to have great food too. This place is fantastic. It's a barcade, so naturally it has to be compared to Ground Kontrol in Portland, and it's superior in pretty much every way. The game selection is better, the beer selection is better, the bartenders are friendlier, and oh god the pinball machines are awesome. I've taken a few friends here and had a blast every single time. The first time I came here, my dad and I brought my 10 year old sister. It's really cool to be able to take kids here in the afternoon and then come back later at night and get drunk and challenge strangers to Soul Calibur 2 matches after pumping quarters into some pinball machines. Drink prices are extremely reasonable. According to my girlfriend, the milkshakes are great. Since the bartenders are super chill, when I've gotten bored of dumping quarters into the pinball machines, it's been one of the few bars where I actually have a really good time just shooting the shit with whoever is tending bar. My only complaint would be about the music, but I've been to a ton of bars that play far worse music, so that complaint is pretty minor. Great place to take your kids in the afternoon for some pinball and a milkshake, great place to take friends to at night to have a drunken Soul Calibur 2 tournament. Highly recommended. read more

Although I did not try any of the food, my friend recommended getting pizza, so I'll have to try that next time. Such a fun place! This place will throw you back into the past with all their pinball machines (an entire wall full!) and arcade games from the 80s to now! Don't worry they have the Simpson's arcade game and a 4-person Pac Man game. This is open to all ages until 9pm when it turns into more of a bar. Then it's 21+. They have a few beers on tap but mostly bottles and cans. Many other drinks as well. As for food it's like many bars where they don't have much so I would suggest maybe grabbing food nearby at any fabulous place in downtown Renton before heading here for some arcade fun! I have been wanting to go here for a while now and made the trip to Renton last night, well worth it! A friend told me about this place as I love old arcade games. Some of my favorite are Qbert, Bubble Bobble, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Galiga, and Ms Pacman. They had a ton more games as well. They had pizza which was good, milk shakes great, and this adult frozen slushy that was amazing. Since we were there late on a week night it was busy but we were able to play all the games we wanted without waiting. The pinball selection was huge, so if you are into pinball you will love this place. Cannot wait to go again. read more

I had fun there and I never seem to see the place packed like the many other locations of classic arcades I have been to? I wonder why? Anyway, I do love the place and I am a big fan. Change machine works all the time, people are friendly, and the games work! A little disappointed in the Area 51 since it is slanted down (which is bad for a shooting game unless I am 6ft tall) and the pinball selection didn't have the favorites like Medieval Madness and selections like that. Dorkys is a good example of a great place but 8-bit did really well with the layout and space. OK, I will give it 5 stars since it is difficult to upkeep the games as well as they do and I am not missing anything when I attend. :o) read more

Great little dive! Lots of fun games but terrible beer selection. I think there were only like 3 to choose from while I was there and they were out of one. But this was the location of mine and my boyfriend's first date and it was awesome. The beertender was super nice but the pizza is TERRIBLE. Don't even bother with it. They're overpriced, tiny, and quite frankly--disgusting. Even though the bartender strongly recommended it...even referred to it as "lifechanging." Blech. The 8 Bit is AWESOME!!! Wide assortment of classic video games (Simpsons arcade game anyone?) and tons of different kind of pinball machines. Along with all of that they also sell beer/wine (full bar across the street at the Local) which is a nice treat. Personally I'm a big fan of the 8bit blond ale. Love this place! As a grown adult with two boys we all have a great time here. All machines appear to be in fantastic condition which shows the care taken by the owners/staff. The pricing is incredible as most games are 25-50 cents which is a crazy throwback to authentic old school arcading (even saw my 10 yr old rooting around in game slots for extra quarters). Lots of options for 80's arcade games as well as some machines that appear to be from the 70's are dont contain a circuit board or monitor at all (really cool, imaginative games).
