This place has great potential to be a wonderful dining experience with it's nice ambiance and wonderful service. The food fell just short of being amazing with each course. First our appetizer of peaches drizzled with blueberry pomegranate vinegar served with whipped ricotta and pistachios was good, but the peaches were hard and just raw. Give those little slices a roast on the grill or oven to soften them up and make them tender and delicious, then the dish may have been more enjoyable. Then I ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms and chicken for about $25. When it was brought out, pretty promptly, as the service was great, I was immediately disappointed as I could see that it was from a box. If I am going to a nice place and paying $25 for pasta, I expect homemade pasta. Anyway as I dug into my dish, the pappardelle was stuck together in clumps as it was way under cooked and kind of gluey. If you are going to serve macaroni from a box, you should at least cook it to perfection! Again the flavor was there, yummy roasted tomatoes, mushrooms and tender chicken, but the pasta made it a serious disappointment. My partner had ordered the Chicken Milanese and thought that it tasted pretty good, but noticed that the bread crumbs were just falling off the chicken as she cut into it. She makes chicken cutlets all the time and knew that the wrong technique was used in breading them. Egg and breadcrumbs is all that you need to coat the chicken. Leave the flour in the bag. Anyway... it just kept falling off and she had a pile pushed aside on her plate. $100 meal (which included one glass of wine) .... we expect much better food. read more

An upscale pizza place ! Meaning its a gourmet pizza restaurant with other seasonal chef's special too. Nice ambience , daily events for dinner and I think it is a nice place to dine with your family but not with friends. Because its so crowded that they might rush you out, atleast ours did when we went as girls night out . We ordered fried calamari (really delicious with sweet duck sauce kind of flavor) , truffle fries (loved it ), and sides as appetizer such as Risotto. The pizza we ordered had caramelized onions and added an extra real of flavor with that . They had squash pudding which was seriously good with the salted maple walnut & cream. They have a really nice bar if you want to hangout just there. The take out Pizza is $10 and its about a big plate size just incase you wanted to know. I like 800 Maple but the clientele is mostly the older, suburban crowd. I don't feel cool when I eat there. However, their wood fired pizzas are really delicious and they have a pretty good happy hour menu, as well as a great selection of wines and mixed drinks. I've sat in the dining room once and ordered entrees, and felt the food was mediocre and over-priced. I was meeting a friend for dinner before a concert at UB's Center for the Arts, so we were looking for something in the area, and we both settled on 800 Maple. We ended up grabbing a high-top table in the bar area, which was packed with the after-work suit and tie crowd. We each had a glass of wine, and ended up splitting one of the appetizer specials: crab "arancini". As you may know, arancini are rice/risotto balls that are breaded and fried, which is what we were expecting. What came were mini crab cake balls with no discernible rice component. They were yummy, but I hate when you're expecting one thing and you get another. However, the pizza we ordered was what we were expecting yet better! We ordered the Alexa, which is a wood fired pizza topped with flank steak, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and finished with a spinach and balsamic salad on top. The crust was crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside, and the flavors of the toppings were spot on. It was just enough food for us to split. Also, the service was really good, despite the bar being busy, and kudos to our waiter for suggesting the Alexa when we couldn't decide. Again, 800 Maple is a solid selection, but I probably wouldn't drive out of my way to go there. However, if you find yourself in the area, its a great place if you stick with the pizzas. read more

Went here this afternoon for brunch. I had a Belgium Waffle and I had a piece of the breakfast pizza. Both were very good. They also offer complimentary pastries and fruit. The service here was very good as well. The Bloody Mary was very good. I had the famous 800 mix for my Bloody Mary. I will definitely be back here for brunch. read more

I have been to 800 Maple on quite a few occasions but hadn't been in maybe a year or so. I was really excited to see if my memory served me right in remembering that this place is very nice with tasty food. I came on a Wednesday night for a special occasion dinner, and surprisingly the place was quite full for a Wednesday dinner so I am glad my date made a reservation. To start off, they had a nice selection of unique cocktails and appetizers. My date and I both got cocktails and we shared to calamari and lobster mac n' cheese. The calamari was just delightful being dipped in a tangy sauce and the lobster mac n' cheese was presented in a unique dish and was baked to perfection. Although, the lobster mac n' cheese was a little rich for my taste. As far as the entree, I have had their pizza most times I have been here which has always been a good choice but I decided to go with something different this time around. I went with the crispy duck, which the waiter told me they usually cook medium rare. The crispy duck was just cooked perfectly and the presentation on the plate was great. The duck was crispy on the outside yet the meat melted in our mouth. It came on a bed of black grains and some cooked vegetables. My only complaint was that the vegetables and rice were room temperature when I was served. Overall you cannot really go wrong with this place, especially on a special occasion. 800 Maple offers a great variety of cocktails, appetizers and main dishes and also different specials everyday! read more

The food we tried sounded very nice, an octopus starter a fire roasted clam starter. These were both very good. He had the swordfish and I had the scallops. Our waiter made no attempt to discuss the menu or specials other than to ask if we had questions nor did he offer us after dinner drinks or desserts. He seemed very shocked we ate the flat bread things he brought I mean if it's not meant to be eaten why bring it. I wish I had also gotten the swordfish as my scallops were overdone and had shell chips in them somehow. We may try going back sometime but perhaps not. At the prices you expect at least some basic interactions with the waiter and we overheard those going on at other tables with other waitstaff. I've been there multiple times and it's like that every time. I'm not sure if it's because they're trying to be "fine dining" or what but the food is way too mediocre to have service like that. Been here twice now. Good service are generally good food, but yesterday I ordered a burger medium rare. When it arrived, I sliced it in half and was disappointed to find it had not a hint of pink. If you're a newbie on the grill, use an instant read thermometer. An experienced grill expert should know better. That burger was medium well, not medium rare. I ate half of it because I didn't feel like waiting for them to send me a burger cooked properly medium rare. It wasn't terrible, but it was absolutely not what I ordered. Disappointing. read more

We visited last night (Friday) for the first time. It had a nice atmosphere and wasn't too crowded. The tables are dressed with black linens and topped with a sheet of paper to catch grease. The servers were so very attentive all night. We stayed for three hours, and our glasses were continually kept full, we didn't have to ask for a thing! It sounded like the bar was quite happening, though we couldn't really see it from the dining area as there is a dividing wall. There was also live music on the other side. Now, for the food. Delicious! I had the arugula salad, Hake entree and cheesecake to finish. Our table shared calamari, tuna and scallops for appetizers. Presentation was delightful and the dressing added such a special dimension for flavor. I couldn't gave asked for more, we were all very pleased. We were treated splendidly. I see some less than stellar reviews on here, and find it laughable that they give a lower score because of the price. Perhaps they are not accustomed to treating themselves. Why should that diminish a review?! Please know this place is not cheap, yet neither is the experience. read more

Went there last Sunday for brunch. It's not my first time, been there a few times n the foods were delicious. We were seated at a round table immediately without reservation. The position of the table was kind of odd. 1st table when u walk into the dinning room, it's kind of like sitting in the middle of the hall way. The server came right away to take our orders. He was polite. Then when he went to the table next to us. We realized he introduced himself n Today's Specials. Not to us. I'm not sure if it's because we have kids at the table or we don't look like we'll be ordering Today's Specials. We had some pastries before our meals, so there were little plates on the table. We have to stack the plates to make room for our meals. Throughout the whole entire time, the server didn't even bother to take the empty plates back. I had a whiskey sour that was very generous on the whiskey. My husband had their version of a Moscow mule, that involve the blood orange- very tasty. We had a reservation for 6:30 p.m. Saturday night. There was a moderate crowd, but certainly not packed; therefore, we never felt rushed. We shared an appetizer of mussels and clams. It was served in this light tomato sauce that had flavor beyond compare. My husband had the duck entree, which he enjoyed. I had what can only be described as the tastiest porkchop of my life - the tomahawk pork chop. This perfect chop was accompanied buy whipped potatoes which tasted pretty much like what I would expect eating clouds out of the sky would taste like. We each had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, which paired well with both dishes. We ordered A slice of cheesecake to eat at home. It was reasonably portioned, and the best part was the pomegranate berry sauce for the topping. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. My husband is rarely impressed by any restaurant, but he liked it as soon as we sat down at the bar all the way through dessert. I cannot believe this used to be a Four Seasons! My parents and I were looking for brunch as we headed out of town and found 800 Maple. The food was fantastic. The service was fun. The ambiance was nice. My mom and I split the crab cake eggs benedict and French toast. The hollandaise was really flavorful though it overpowered the crab cakes a bit where there was too much, which was only bad because the crab cakes were great. The eggs were nicely done. The French toast was a perfect breakfast desert. There was also a fruit and pastry bar. We got into a little college rivalry feud with our server, but she still tended to us nicely and made us laugh. She was training another server and instead of feeling like we were stuck with the newbie, we felt doubly taken care of. If we're back in Buffalo for brunch, I'd definitely go back and would love to try it for dinner. read more

I recently went to 800 Maple with some close friends. This restaurant doesn't look like anything too exciting from the outside, but I was impressed when I saw the buildings interior. I'd say this restaurant is high end Italian, and I enjoyed my experience here. I ordered calamari, which was fantastic and reasonably priced. For my entrée my friend and I split a pizza, which is hands down the best pizza I've ever had. I will absolutely be returning, and bringing more people to enjoy it with! read more

The classic cocktails that we had were great, Caesar salad came quickly with romaine, Parma prosciutto, white anchovy, reggiano as well as the Spinach salad with apples, dried cherries, Maytag bleu, spiced pecans & maple dressing were both very well prepared, a lil pricy but worth it. Main entrees tonight were "Charlooch" a wood fire pizza with spit roasted barbeque chicken, caramelized onions, bacon, bleu cheese and a mouthwatering prime rib, again both very good and well presented. (Be aware deserts are great, huge and very rich)The service could not have been better, thank you Matt M. and the hostess who provided me with a pair of readers as I had left mine home. Had the sad need to come to Buffalo area for a funeral. This fantastic restaurant was willing to open early and host a buffet for the very large funeral party. The staff was absolutely AMAZING taking great care of us all. The food was very good and they kept everything well stocked and hot. There are a lot of nice places to eat in Buffalo, where if you pay $100 for 2 people for dinner, you will leave completely satisfied, full, and having fully enjoyed your meal. This is not one of those places. I went here for my birthday, and ordered a filet. The piece of meat they gave me was not a filet. It was tiny and thin, and they completely overcooked it. I was not compensated for it after complaining. The other times I've been here I've gotten just pizza, and there are much better places to get all the things on their menu, at a much better price. We have been going to 800 Maple for many years and love their food, drinks and great service....however, I think I speak for everyone waiting for their food today that it was a complete and utter shit show. I ordered our food for curbside pick up 4 days ago so I would be able to get it for Mother's Day. My pick up time was at 6pm. I arrived at 5:50 and expected to wait for a little bit. I ended up waiting until 7:15! After talking with the runner (who was very polite) and calling for answers, nobody could give us a time which our food would be ready! I was forced to cancel my order and take my business elsewhere. I'm sure everyone in that parking lot had the same experience and ruined what should have been a nice Mother's Day dinner! I was in town on business, and maybe I expected a bit too much, but I just wasn't very impressed by this place. The bread / dip wasn't anything notable and actually maybe a bit below average. The pizza was nice. I had one of the steaks for dinner and it was 'fine' The service was pretty bad for the calibre of restaurant it tries to be. It will be a very very very long time before I go back to this place. I was at 800 Maple for a private party in the "Chef's Room". Our reservations were for 8:15. When we got there at 8:15, the hostess told us that we couldn't stand in the atrium and told us to go to the bar... our table would be ready in 10 minutes. We didn't get seated until 9:30. The only reason I didn't leave was because I was there for a birthday party. Our server, Ron, was awesome!! I can't say enough about his level of professionalism, courtesy, respect, etc! I feel bad in a way speaking so negatively about this restaurant only because of the level of service he provided. The food took a very long time, considering we placed our order at 10:00pm. I heard so many good things about the food here and I was very excited to try it. The food was WELL below par. The prices are extremely overpriced for the quality of food. The final nail in the casket came at the end of our dinner when the manager came into the room and told us that they were closing our private room in 5 minutes and that we needed to go to the bar!! Well... maybe if we hadn't been seated over an hour after our reservations, we wouldn't have still been in the room. I've been treated better at a Subway restaurant.
