Literally the best boba I've ever had. What is this witchcraft?! I got the original jasmine milk tea with honey boba and phewwwwww

We easily had at least 5 orders skip right over us (we ordered in front of a long line of people but somehow they got their drinks first). The store is run by a hoard of teenagers that seemed to be distracted and overwhelmed. My party of 2 ordered a lychee boba tea and peach passion black tea; both drinks are too sweet, one is lukewarm??, and the boba are kinda hard. Overall just a disappointing experience :( read more

I ordered a jasmine milk tea. The sweetness was perfect but the ratio of milk to tea wasn't quite right for my taste. It was too milky. When I ordered on the kiosk in the store the only boba option it gave me was crystal boba. I would have preferred the honey boba. It also had jelly but I didn't choose that option so I'm not sure what's up with that. I wish I had ordered from the cashier then I could have asked questions and probably would have gotten a drink that was closer to what I wanted. read more

I wanted to give this place a higher score, since out of all the bubble tea places in Santa Barbara, this one is the best. Sadly, the bubble tea here pales in comparison to the offerings of other cities in California. This disappointed me having moved to California recently from the east coast and expecting there to be a myriad of great bubble tea places in Santa Barbara. The shop itself is a cool place to hang out with board games and a patio outside to play giant Connect Four or cornhole. The walls are decorated with eclectic art from local artists that gives the shop a slight hipster vibe. All in all, 805 Boba is a chill place to kick back with friends. ll Horchata Milk Tea ll The horchata bubble tea is a special this month probably to coincide with Santa Barbara's Fiesta festival. It was good, but I just wish it had a little more of the cinnamon flavor horchata is known for. ll Spiced Chai Milk Tea ll This has been my go-to when coming to the store. The chai itself isn't overpowering, but it definitely gives the milk tea a little kick and pairs well with the refreshing milk tea. ll Brown Honey Boba ll The texture of the boba was spot-on. It was chewy just like I like it and not at all mushy or hard. ll Crystal Jelly Boba ll The crystal jelly boba was way too undercooked. Chewing the boba was more of an ordeal than I was expecting out of that particular bubble tea drinking experience. I say experience with an emphasis on "experience" as a singular noun because no one should subject himself to having to drink the crystal jelly boba more than once. I think what keeps me from giving 805 Boba a higher score is its lack of consistency. The times I've come here I've either gotten too much ice or not enough ice. The amount of boba seems to differ as well depending on who prepares the bubble tea. Lastly, why not give your patrons a choice of sweetness level like other bubble tea places do? I'll still keep coming here whenever I need a bubble tea fix, but I would say that if a quality bubble tea place opened up in Santa Barbara, then this place would be in trouble. Meh. That's all I can really say about this place...I got a passion fruit and mango green tea, but the barista's diluted the drink with so much ice that it just tasted like water. They also don't adjust the sweetness of their drinks, which also sucks. Probably not coming back here ever again. read more

Turns out there aren't too many places in Santa Barbara to find boba (or I just suck at searching for them!). After dinner one night, my boyfriend and I found 805 Boba to satisfy the boba craving. This spot is located inside a little area that you walk to with a bunch of shops. I'm not too sure about the parking situation, we found some street parking nearby which there was plenty of when we went. Taro and matcha are my go-to flavors when it comes to boba. We decided to get each of one. When we received our order, the colors of our drinks were a lot darker than what I'm used to seeing - that was nbd, it's just a color. Turns out it wasn't just the color, something about the drinks were just a little odd to me, I think they were just not as sweet as usual? Such a cute shop. I came up to SB by random today & of course I had to stop for boba. Great service, and very eager to answer questions about their products. They use a lot of powdered flavors or artificial syrups which I wasn't to keen on but they recommended an avocado smoothie with fresh avocado,condensed milk & boba. I'm not usually a huge avocado fan but I thought I'd give it a shot... The boba was perfect & the smoothie would've been too if I could've gotten pass the sweet avocado-ness of the drink. Maybe next time I'll try one of their fruit smoothies from a purée. read more

Ordered a rose milk tea which was risky bc very few places know how to make it without making it too perfumey or sweet. I ordered the decaf version as suggested because I wanted the rose flavor to be stronger. Way too sweet. I tried my best to drink most of it bc I don't like to waste food, but I threw a quarter of it away because I was starting to get a headache because it was too sweet. If I could give a negative star review I would. I've been craving boba and came across 805 Boba and it was horribly made. The boba was not soft and chewy. I don't know if it was under cooked or old. This was not the first time I had 805 Boba and the first was just as bad as this recent visit. I hope they can learn how to make boba properly next time. read more

My husband and I were having lunch in Santa Barbara and we decided to see if there was a local boba shop around and voila, 805 boba. I ordered the honey lemon slush with brown sugar boba and my husband ordered a blended milk tea. I had to say that the brown sugar was pretty mediocre, not very fresh or chewy nor sweet like brown sugar would be. The honey lemon slush was good - refreshing for a hot day but nothing fantastic. My husband's blended milk tea was below mediocre - not sweet, more ice than tea. I was just not very impressed with the drinks here or maybe I didn't try the right stuff. So many options!! At first, I was overwhelmed by all the possible combinations that are offered at 805 Boba, but the employees are super helpful and walked me through the process of building a drink. I chose a Taro Smoothie with brown boba. It was delicious and unique. The location is nice in that it's in the middle of a large outdoor shopping plaza so there's lots to see and do while you sip on your drink. I found parking to be a bit difficult as I had to park on the street. I believe there's a parking ramp near by but I didn't want the extra charge. Definitely give this place a try! read more

I've come here twice with my friend who is addicted to boba. I am no boba connoisseur. This particular time I got a regular milk tea with the brown honey boba. I'd give it 3/5 for the tea as it was too "tea" for me. I guess I like it a bit more sugary or watered...not sure. The brown honey boba was a really nice consistency and I liked the taste. It was firm and not overly chewy. I'd give it a 5/5 for that. This place is decently good and they were very friendly. This place is honestly one of my favorite places to go and get a refreshing beverage. Everything Is fresh and I know for a fact they use Farmers Market Herbs and spices in their products. My guess is that if you're searching around on Yelp for boba, then you likely know how it's supposed to taste. I'm sorry to say that boba shops around here just will always fall a little bit short when compared to those in LA or Orange County. With this said, if the boba cravings hit while you're here in beautiful SB, 805 Boba will do just fine. I just recommend that before you pop in, take a look at who's behind the counter making the boba drinks. If it's a chill looking guy with dark hair who seems to be handling the crowds like a boss, walk right in, he'll take good care of you. He always seems to nail the texture of the boba and the drink is not weirdly watery. I definitely had the watery smoothie with oddly hard boba combo here, but not from him. I really should have asked for his name. Most recently, I dropped in on a slow day and he waited patiently while I stared blankly at their large and colorful text chalkboard menu. I asked blithely what the Kokomo flavor is exactly, and the guy calmly responds, "chocolate, coconut, and espresso." YES. Take my money now, please. So. Good. Like a liquid Almond Joy without the fibrous coconut texture...or the almond. Perhaps that wasn't the best comparison... Nonetheless, if nothing else, try the Kokomo if you like chocolate and coconut. read more

Um so basically this place is garbage. Went in here on a hot summer day looking for a cool off snack. Had to wait about 30-40 minutes for my order. Not sure if it was the lack of urgency these high school kids had when making my order or their sheer laziness. When I did get my boba it was so disgusting that I had to throw it away INSIDE the establishment. I made sure to lock eyes with the teen that made mine to made sure he knew he had room for improvement. Got the boba milk tea. Wow, very disappointed. For the price ($4 for small) and the taste, it was not worth it. The milk tea did not have any tea taste and it almost tasted like powder. I can't even explain what it tasted like. It didn't really have a milky taste or a tea taste. The worst part was the actual boba balls. It was hard and not edible. I had to throw away the drink after a few sips. I'm not trying to hate on this place, but if you're asian and have had good boba from Taiwan or LA, you will not like this place. Two stars for long wait times and rather disappointing bubble teas. I'll say the staff themselves are friendly and doing the best they can with the volume of people arriving on a Saturday afternoon. However, my original milk bubble tea with regular bubbles was probably one of the oddest flavor profiles I have ever encountered for a bubble tea. I usually use the original milk tea as my comparison across brands of bubble tea, and this one had strange notes of sugar, coffee, and consistency/texture that simply didn't add up for me. The bubbles themselves are chewy, but I think the recipe for this concoction should be reviewed. Tips/Takeaways: -The original milk bubble tea is not worth getting -Would recommend return only if there are no other bubble tea establishments you're willing to drive to for your main fix. read more

This boba place is really good. They have a ton of flavors and they offer bamboo straws for those of us who are conscious about the elimination of single use plastic items. (Cups next, 805Boba!!) The only issue I've ever had is with ordering through Yelp. Sometimes they don't check their orders so when I get there, I have to wait longer. The coffee is awful and unprofessionally made. The espresso machine is not clean and not cleaned between preparations of espresso drinks. The Cappuccino was boiling hot. The place is nice. Service is slow but it is a quite nice place to sit and work with their free WiFi however coffee preparation must be improved. read more

I liked this place quite a bit. Was craving an hot almond milk tea and they do it here! The decaf is nondairy which in my book is a plus and it has a more almondy taste. They have a ton of board games here as well. The place seems to be one of the only if not one of the few boba places that is in SB. Maybe it's just this downtown area. I'm not sure, but at least that one that was open on the later end of the night. The employees there are really kind and took the time to explain to me the difference between the caffeinated and non caffeinated milk tea in terms of flavor. Moving from the Bay Area to SB for college, I was so excited to see a boba shop! I ordered the earl grey milk tea and my friends had the Jasmine and taro. I think the pricing for a large is a bit much but for a small it's okay. My earl grey was decent, but my friend's Jasmine was awful; it tasted like water. My other friend's taro was super artificial. Maybe some flavors are a hit or miss. This is nothing compared to boba from home but what can you do when you're SB? Out of all the boba places I've had so far in the area, this one is my favorite but it's just far from school. Would go again if I'm in the mood and I'm downtown. read more
