Food and service were great. We ordered the chicken katsu and tuna poke. The poke was a little too sweet for me but the flavors were still very delicious and the tuna tasted fresh. The chicken katsu was very juicy, tender, and flavorful. I wish it came with more sauce because it was so good but next time I'll order extra! The Mac salad is wow, very delicious. I could eat a whole container of that. Flavors were delicious and bright, unlike most that use mayo and very little seasoning. Be sure to call them vs ordering through grubhub. The folks here are real Hawaiians. They don't even pretend with their craft. I would say that they specialize in the Teriyaki items on the menu but also have fish dishes. Their Poke choices are made to order. I've tried most of the offerings and haven't been disappointed. I wish they had an Ahi Limu style but I guess it's hard to source the fresh Limu/Ogo. Well I gave 808 a try, I was glad I did. The ribs were meaty and not fatty, and very tender They let me try the Korean style ribs they were tender too. The Mac salad was a bit wet, but I ate it all!! Was sitting home craving something Hawaiian so of course do a yelp search and found this spot not to far from me. So jumped in my car and off I went. 15 minutes later I got to to parking lot which is small so decided to park directly in the street. And walked in. It's a small spot not a like a really big chain restaurant but seemed comfortable. I checked out the menu placed my order and was told it would take about 15 minutes. The guy at the counter that took the order had a great attitude and really positive energy. Ok I went back in 15 minutes I grabbed my order. It was to go and when I got home and put it on my table I seen all the good food. I had gotten a popular dish called the MOMONA it had Hawaiian BBQ chicken. Beef ribs and short rib. Also with a side of macaroni salad I also grabbed another side of rice also. Of the chicken was really good. The beef and short ribs were a little bland for my taste but I did enjoy them. I added some sauce in the I had at home. The Mac salad was ok. But then again nothing on this planet could compare to mom's Mac salad. I wish a took a picture cause my plate was STACKED with meat lol! I was thinking it was a little pricey at first, but when I got my plate and saw how much food there was that thought completely left my mind! I believe I got "The Momona" combo plate, it had Hawaiian bbq chicken, short ribs and beef rib. Those beef ribs were humongous and had so much meat on the bones, nice and tender and flavorful as well. Only tiny critique that I have is that the Mac salad could use a tiny bit more salt and flavor, but overall I was VERY impressed! Goodbye ono Hawaiian bbq, hello 808 local Hawaiian grill! Beef ribs caught my eye. Went at 2pm today not busy Ordered the Momoan 2 beef ribs 1 cut Kalbi and a lot of bbq grilled chicken 1 scoop rice and. Some macaroni in mayo. Ribs are fall off the bone because they are so greasy they almost slide off by themselves. I am a hearrt patient but was dying to eat a real bbq beef rib. It was so greasy i could only stomach one piece. There Is almost more mayo and half and half than macaroni ergo milky almost slurpy tasting macaroni salad. The chicken was tastie but also very greasy. In my younger days I could have eaten the whole meal and worked it off. But overall the flavor of the ribs and. Chicken were good. The mac salad was milky but easy on the taste buds. Not your typical Hawaiian Mac with lots of salt and pepper. I will be back but due to my current dietary constraints it will be awhile. read more

Came here after visiting Kia carson. Place is small. More for a pick up and go. Small parking lot. We got there with 40 minutes before closing. Menu options were pretty explainable and the gentleman that took our order was sweet and quiet. We ordered two plates to go with two cans of coke. Took about 12-15 minutes of wait time. Listen, if you're ever in the carson area, try this place and judge it for yourself. Food was made with so much love. Fresh and hot right off the grill. I had the chicken katsu yesterday and it was amazing. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I usually ask for teriyaki sauce to be omitted because I find it to be too sweet which overwhelms the flavors of the meal but their teriyaki sauce is the perfect blend of sweet, tangy and savory. The macaroni salad was also delicious as was the poke that owner was kind enough to let me sample. I will be back with friends and family for sure. Can't wait to try the other menu items! read more

I've been to their other location in Orange & was excited to see a new location! This is one of my favorite Hawaiian restaurants so I had high expectations for this location. Ordered the kalbi beef & beef rib plate. In comparison to the Orange location, this was extremely underwhelming & under seasoned. The portions were significantly smaller & had less flavor. The meat was dry. The mac was just... cream? I have no idea why this location is so different from the other one. My husband just went and got us some lunch, we were really taken aback at how really authentic and good the Hawaiian food is. The katsu and bbq chicken is delicious. My favorite tho is the Pipi platter - had rice, mac salad, and Beef rib and short rib. When I tell you the meat was falling off the bone! Man. The momona was awesome! The large juicy BBQ pork ribs, kalbi ribs, and supple BBQ chicken make this dish easily a favorite. Appreciated the meat wasn't overly oily like many other Hawaiian BBQ spots. The meat was served with nicely seasoned white rice and delicious macaroni. Also, the portion was generous for the price. The service was adequate and polite. The portions are amazing more meat than rice for sure. I got the killa loco which consists of two 1/4 pound beef patties, two eggs cooked over easy, six slices of spam, one chopped up Portuguese sausage, rice, and two scoops for macaroni salad.
