Best food in this area hands down‍‍ Ma and pa hawaiian bbq place. My boyfriend and i always get the beef rib plate that comes with rice, salad, and the best hawaiian style macaroni salad. The meat is so so so flavorful, grilled imperfection, and sooo hearty poke is super fresh and good too. Personally like the texture of the fish in the soy sauce seasoning more than the spicy mayo. Good Hawaiian food but very small. Only had 1 table inside and 1 outside. Owner was very friendly though and I swear he did everything from taking orders to cooking. For Hawaiian food it was good but nothing that standout given all the Hawaiian restaurants in the area. The beef rib was interesting, just not much meat on them. There, I just simulated the experience at 808 Local Grill. With only two people ahead of me in line, it took a half hour for the cashier to process their orders before I got the order. It took a half hour to get my order in. No customizations, no changes, straight off the menu. A half hour. An hour total wait with only two customers in front of me. No pickup orders, no delivery, no complicating factors. That is an unacceptable wait, even if they grill the food to order. As if that wasn't bad enough, this place charges a 3% service fee if you use any payment besides cash. Which is reasonable one would think, except that they have a sign that says we're out of change, exact change or credit card only. Which means the service charge it's pretty much mandatory. In the end, the food itself wasn't bad. The price is acceptable, the flavor is pretty good, and the portion size is acceptable. But I can't justify that kind of wait, delay, slowness, and inconsideration. But if you're willing to sacrifice your time and patience, then go for it. read more

Delicious breakfast plate! Big kahuna came with Portuguese sausage, spam, egg, rice, gravy, all on top of rice. Portion was great, filled me up after doing some running! The gravy was my FAV part, I'm a sauce guy so every bite was so flavorful because of the gravy, Also tried their spicy mayo in a 1/4 cup; delicious. Small shop but the vibe in there was nice. Soooooo I have them a 5 star because I do like the food and gravy and the workers are awesome. The place is a small Hole in the wall with a maybe 4 small tables. Parking is ample. All in all I go all the time only complaint is they use miracle whip for mayo in the Mac salad and that's a big no no in Hawaii and I'm born and raised there. And only other complaint is the spam is a little too raw to my liking. I ask them to cook more and then I get it still more on the non cooked side. But go check em out. Also if you do t like Obama like I do just don't stare at his picture in the wall. It's hard but I do it. read more

I finally tried this hole in a wall Hawaiian restaurant. It's a cozy spot with a couple of tables inside and 2 or 3 more outside. The vibe is laid-back, and the service is friendly. The mouth-watering aroma of the grill hits you as soon as you walk in. Since they cook everything fresh to order, it's best to call ahead. I had the Island Beef Ribs plate, and it did not disappoint. I purchased food a few weeks ago. Was super delicious. We used Door Dash to deliver our order. We plan to return on a future date.

We finally made it to 808 Local Hawaiian on Saturday, 4/13/24. It was raining but we were craving some local Hawaiian grindz and this place has been on our radar. We arrived around 5pm and sadly, they were already out of beef ribs. That was one of the reasons we wanted to try this place so that was disappointing. Also, they are strict about not substituting anything on the menu. You can't order certain combos with beef ribs and substitute with another kind of meats even though they've run out of ribs. My kids didn't really care for the spinach salad, I was hoping to swap that with rice but the gentleman was firm on no substitution. It's ok, it's his business and it's his prerogative to do whatever he wants. I am assuming he is the owner, he was nice but you need to be patient with him. There's nothing wrong with being slow as he wants to make sure he gets the orders correctly. We did order a lot. Always apply aloha in everything! Food: Kalua pork plate - 5/5 Kalbi plate - 5/5 Killa loco - 4/5 The Ka Moa- 5/5 Sword fish meal - 4/5 Spam and egg musubi - 3/5 (the musubi was cold and the spam was thin, thus the 3 stars. Otherwise, Everything tasted good. They have the best kalua pork I've ever had in the mainland. The killa loco was a generous plate. It had all kine meat and the gravy was flavorful. The only thing was the hamburger patties was a bit dry but with the gravy, it was good. The kids enjoyed the kalbi and bbq chicken. The ambience was homey. They only have a couple of tables inside and outside. Hopefully the next time we get to try the beef ribs. This is what they're known for so we are looking forward to trying that. They are located in Carson, parking available in the plaza. So happy to have 808 Hawaiian join the list of Hawaiian restaurants in the area. We will definitely be back again and we highly recommend all to try this place. read more

Lol these guys are great at what they do- the customer service is amazing 10/10 i should've got everyones names just know ive been a returning customer since i first tried them i will say i do drive about 45 mins just to get my lil momona plate i cant lie for you protein freaks these are the guys to go tooo ! Make sure you get the short ribs on the side it might be extra but its well worth it ! And dont forget to show love and patience with them always so boom now lets get into the food. The meats are alll so fulll of flavorrr ribs are all so smoky and tender every single time i mean they cant miss . This place went viral for their Hawaiian beef ribs and I had to try it since I love beef ribs of any kind. This is mainly take out place which I recommend you call or order online but I prefer to order thru the phone. The place only has 2 small tables inside and 2 tables outside. The parking lot is small and shared by multiple businesses but I did find street parking, so I wouldn't say parking is plentiful. I ordered their Hawaiian beef ribs and my Coworker ordered the loco moco. She said the food was pretty good, the patties looked thick. The Hawaiian beef rib which seems to be their best seller was pretty good on flavor but it wasn't tender fall off the bone like I saw on instagram, it has quite a bit of chew to it but the flavor is good. Don't expect ton of meat either it had ok amount on the bones, it came with white rice, a little bit of spinach salad and macaroni salad. The day I went they were featured on a morning talk show and they ran out of a lot of their items and had to wait like an hour for them to have the beef ribs ready. So it was unfortunate day for me since I had to wait so long but was determined to try the beef ribs since there was so much hype. The food was good overall but would I go back again, if I was in the area I'd go back again if I was craving Hawaiian food. The portions were pretty decent for the price. I'd like to try their poke bowl next time. Tip: there was a sign that said you get a discount for paying cash but didn't say how much so for large orders it might be worth it. read more

Joe was the one who helped us out at the register and he was very patient with us (it was our first time here and we weren't sure of what to get). He asked what we liked and he had suggested "the Momona" plate for me and my husband. The plate consisted of BBQ chicken, kalbi ribs, beef ribs, Mac salad, and rice. When I tell you they do not skip out on portions, THEY DO NOT SKIP OUT ON PORTIONS! Everything was so flavorful & so meaty! It definitely won't be the last time we order that! This place is amazing. Friendly, humble, hardworking people. They recently just got broken into which is why part of the wall is boarded up, but they are still going strong! It was just a minor setback for a MAJOR come back! Please make sure you give this spot a try! You DEFINITELY get your bang for your buck here! My husband and I tried the Momona combo and loco moco. The loco moco consisted of 2 small hamburger patties topped with salty gravy. The patties were tough and personally I like my loco moco with one decent sized patty. The momona plate definitely made up for the disappointment in the loco moco. I had heard about this place before and never went. I had lunch with a friend who. had just been here and raved about the ribs. I decided to finally try it. Oh, my. The ribs were so big they had to tape the lid closed. They were tender and tasty. The meat literally fell off the bone. We got the Kalbi and rib combination and the chicken, kalbi and rib combination, The girl at the counter was so nice and helped me decide on what to order. Everything was fantastic.
