Shortly after, I found power steering fluid leaking onto my driveway. When I brought it back to Firestone, they attempted to quote me an additional $900 for a new power steering pump, which I suspected was inaccurate. I brought my vehicle and the Firestone invoice to TENN'S on Keolu Drive for a second opinion. They correctly diagnosed the issue as two leaking power steering hoses, which they promptly replaced. My steering is now perfectly normal with no leaks. Furthermore, TENN'S inspected my coolant system and realized Firestone had failed to refill the antifreeze after flushing it. TENN'S pressure-tested the system and correctly topped off all fluids. I am sharing my experience in this post to prevent others from being misled into paying for poor or unnecessary services.

The pricing wasn't clearly explained upfront, and I ended up being surprised by that were never properly discussed. It made me feel like I couldn't trust the recommendations being made. I went back to Firestone, and they told me they hadn't actually changed the fluid, but rather replaced a leaky hose. They then claimed the low fluid was due to a bad power steering pump and quoted me an additional $900 to replace it. It just didn't sound right, and I felt they were being dishonest. I took my car to Tenn's for a second opinion and showed them the Firestone invoice. Tenn's quickly found the real issue: two entirely different power steering hoses were leaking. They replaced them, and now my steering is perfect with zero leaks. On top of that, Tenn's inspected my coolant system and found both the radiator and reservoir levels were dangerously low because Firestone failed to properly refill the antifreeze after their flush. Tenn's pressure-tested the system and topped off the fluids for me. Mahalo to Tenn's--they are honest mechanics you can actually trust!

Did my lift here years ago, also this event happened years ago. (review is very late, but started…read morethinking as I saw ads for them on Facebook regularly, people need to be aware of their practice) apparently they didn't tighten the steering knuckle lower 2 bolts on my Tacoma, clearly before I left I saw a thread sticking out on the lower control arm bolts, didn't say anything as I'd thought they'd honor their work, and thought they possibly even messed up the threads on that bolt that was loose which is why it didn't go all the way in, (as a mechanic I'm not going to touch something I'm afraid will break which would turn to my fault, liability is pretty important in the automotive service industry) they reassured me before I left that everything was perfect even though the skid plate wasn't installed as well until I said something, then within less than 6000 miles down the road and within less than a 6 month period, lower control arm came loose and went straight to the floor, took it back to them with a tow truck and they charged me for the labor to replace a lifetime warranty part from rough country as well as a CV axle that got damage due to collateral damage from the bolt coming loose. Clearly they didn't tighten the bolt with their response as "we loctite everything" well loctite only goes a long way when the bolt is torqued with a torqued wrench. A real shop would've comp everything and own up to their mistake and repair it for free due to technician negligence. But that didn't happen, rather just down another couple hundred dollars, around $800-1,000 to fix their mistake. But I mean the lifetime part was free which was great, one company at least honored something. Never coming back here again, neither will ever be involved with this shop ever again. Still have my receipt and can easily warranty stuff yourself on rough country website. Wasn't going to argue with these guys in person as they're pretty intimidated and aggressive when you put them on the spot. So it's easier to result in online reviews and let people know their practice as they're also firm with whatever they say with no room for talk or solution unless I'm guessing legal action is taken or a harsh review is made. They honestly just hungry for money, made the victim an even bigger one.
