I had a very poor experience at the Firestone on Hamakua Drive. I paid Firestone $449 for a power steering service and $148 for a coolant exchange. Shortly after, I found power steering fluid leaking onto my driveway. When I brought it back to Firestone, they attempted to quote me an additional $900 for a new power steering pump, which I suspected was inaccurate. I brought my vehicle and the Firestone invoice to TENN'S on Keolu Drive for a second opinion. They correctly diagnosed the issue as two leaking power steering hoses, which they promptly replaced. My steering is now perfectly normal with no leaks. Furthermore, TENN'S inspected my coolant system and realized Firestone had failed to refill the antifreeze after flushing it. TENN'S pressure-tested the system and correctly topped off all fluids. I am sharing my experience in this post to prevent others from being misled into paying for poor or unnecessary services. read more

The guys did a brake inspection and not my actual brakes so my car was sitting there from Friday to Sunday just to not get fixed. They needed to order the tires which would be in by that day. Called about 3:30 to check the progress of the car, they didn't even start anything on it. The excuse was only 1 worker does diagnostic ... option was i can pick up the car and bring it back the next day, we'll just leave it til tomorrow . Friday call about noon again didn't even start on my car and excuse again...1 worker again. This was so frustrating and lies after lies. Finally picked up the car because nothing was done. This place is like the car rental on Seinfeld. They're GREAT at taking reservations. But as we all know, anyone can take a reservation. They just don't know how to hold the reservation. I was bumped from my reservation 4 times for a simple tire repair. After waiting on hold for over 30 minutes, I went into the store and rebooked my FIFTH reservation a week later. Took the car in for the scheduled appointment at 10am and they said they couldn't get to it then, but it would be done by 3:30. Came back at 3:30 - my car hadn't moved. They said "maybe by 5 but we can't promise". I left. It should be illegal for this place to sell tire warranties, because they won't ever do a repair! read more

Filled it up and noticed that I had damaged the tire also. While he couldn't help me out with a tire (too expensive when ordered), rim (FS wasn't doing rims), or an inner tube (I guess they don't do that either), "FREE" & good service always deserves a mention. read more

Made an appointment to get my oil changed. Guy at the front didn't greet me, just asked if I had an appointment. I get it. They're busy. They asked if I wanted the car inspected. I thought that was a good idea. Oil and inspection, $150. He said they will call me when it's done. Toward the end of the day, I got the call that it was done. He said they found two major issues. 1. Valve covers were cracked and should be replaced. 2. My rear brakes need replacing. I'm a girl, so I asked, how bad is it and how much would it cost? He said, well if your value covers start leaking that could larger problems if it does. It cost $900. Your rear brakes are pretty bad. 3mm left. You should get those changed. It cost $600. He said you can make an appointment to get the car back in. I said okay, I'll call to make an appointment. Luckily I do have a mechanic that normally takes care of my car. I took it to him and told him what the issues with my car were based on what I was told at Firestone. He said he would take a look and call me. Mechanic calls back and says, hey... we changed your value cover last year. It's good. And your rear brakes are still about 25%. We can change them on your next service. No rush. I consistently get bad service at Firestone, but I keep going back because they are in the neighborhood and I purchased a lifetime tire rotation thing from them. Clearly they are out to take advantage of loyal customers who trust them. I feel completely betrayed by Firestone for trying to get me to replace valve covers that are completely fine. Shame on you, Firestone! I know my experience won't impact their business because they are always very busy. I would just encourage anyone to get a second opinion on major repairs that they tell you are needed. read more

I have had nothing but problems with this Firestone for the past 10 years however, I kept going back. No more. Trying to get an appointment is very hard. This past time we had an appointment time for 7:30 am for an oil change and to look at a broken water hose for the windshield wiper. The car wasn't looked at until the second day. Then it took 2 more days just to get an oil change. 3 weeks after the oil change I noticed burning oil. I then noticed that there was zero oil in the car. Completely bone dry. The oils leaked all over my street and it took me hours and many dollars to clean. I had someone look at the issue and the oil filter was not completely on. The staff are rude and there attitude is that since it's Kailua and there aren't many options that if they loose customers, they dont care. They have others that will come. Be warned. read more

I made an appointment a week ago and i even dropped it off early to the shop. Dropped it off at 11:30, my appointment was at 2:00pm. Its 4;30 so I keep calling and no answer. I called and called and no answer. So I walked over to Firestone because i know they close at 5 and didn't want to get my car locked up overnight because I live 25 miles west. That was my fear because of lack of communication. Anyways i went there and they told me my car is up next... I'm now upset because i left work early and walked 10 minutes to the darn place. This Firestone location surpassed expectations as a customer. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, along with being attentive. Feels like they value attention to detail and is why going to this shop to have tires put on a brand new vehicle was not stressful at all. Unfriendly help from William. Took 15 min to be acknowledged at the counter and then uncomfortably felt like I was bothering him. He was slow taking down required details on car and tire size. No conversation, just felt like he didn't want to be there. Until he determined it will need to be replaced. Wheel was in bed of SUV, I had to unload it and roll it to the building myself. No offer of assistance. Was only told price of tire, no other info. Took another 15 min at counter, was erroneously written up as repair even though he suggested and I agreed to get new tire. He had to redo work order and that took another 15 min. It was clear he lacked computer skills. Promised completion time not met. No calls from them on progress, had to call them to get status. At 3:25 PM I called them and was assured again it would be finished before end of day. Lady said they would work past 6PM closing time to complete. Again I had to call at 6:15 PM to get status and was then told it was not going to be completed that day. Was told it would be done by noon next day. I told them it was unacceptable and had to have car by 9:00 AM. They did have car ready at 8:58 AM. I have no problem with waiting if an accurate completion time is provided then I can assess whether to seek service from another company. No update calls is unacceptable. I scheduled my appointment for 2pm and was told that I could drop my car off early, so I did. I was told it should only take 1 1/2 hours. Online it says they close at 5pm. I arrived at 4:30pm to be told my car hadn't even been serviced yet and that they close at 6pm so they'll get to it. I came back at 5:50pm and my car was still unfinished. SCAM ALERT! Please beware! Felt like I was scammed by Firestone Kailua. I probably was. Took our Toyota Corolla in to get serviced. Firestone said the struts were bad and needed to be repaired. Quoted price of approx $2,500. Then took the car to Motor Imports Toyota for a second opinion. Lo and behold they said they couldn't find any problems with the struts. Wait, what!? Thank you Jason of Motor Imports for your detailed explanation. So appreciated. F.U. Kailua Firestone! Everyone tries so hard to trust your car guy. You have broken that trust and we will no longer patronize your store. I dare for any Firestone representative to call and explain what happened. They probably won't and I won't care. So be warned. I had to replace my battery and my terminals. Caden was a huge help. He was able to clean the battery terminals so I didn't even need to replace them, which I was super happy about. Firestone helped me right away. They are a very chill and comfortable company, I felt very relaxed here. They are very assuring and make you feel very comfortable, and they do not try to rip you off. They are professional and put everything in the computer so you don't have to worry about things not being documented. They also offer a lot of warranties and check a lot of your stuff for free. The inspection checks are usually only $10 too. Everyone who works here is very chill and not uptight, rushing, or mean like some other companies. Maybe I just came at a good time LOL I don't know, but I was really happy. I left feeling very relieved and glad Firestone was able to help right away, and get the job done perfectly. There's also a girl here, I forgot her name, but she is literally the nicest person ever. I called a few times when I had a lot of questions and was stressed about a previous car I had, and even though I was stressed, this girl was super kind THE ENTIRE TIME, and was SO good at making me feel relaxed and comfortable, EVEN when I was stressed. It's important to have customer service like that, especially at a car place, because cars can be very stressful. She was also EXTREMELY patient, which is also amazing. They are also very professional which is very reassuring. I plan on coming here for my oil changes now. Again, Caden was super awesome too. There was also another guy (forgot his name) who helped me a ton, told me I just need to get the battery cover hooks for the battery, and I didn't need to get an entire cover. He told me to get it at O'Reilly for only $5! Not only that, he was so happy and positive when he said it, which made me happy and positive. Literally LOL. They saved me a lot of time and money. PLEASE BEWARE!!! I needed to change 2 Fire Hawk tires on my 2016 Dodge Dart. We brought the car in on Tuesday 7/11/23. I understand it's your job to make recommendations to upsell to the customer. But, if a customer says they don't want anything else done than what is requested, it should be just that. Byron, who's the person in charge (with a very strong personality) tried to upsell to my husband. My husband (also a strong personality and a mechanic) didn't want anything else done and it was left at changing the tires and a wheel balance. He didn't want to put time into changing the tires and that's why we took it in. A simple fix, right? Nope! Later that day Byron calls and says we must change all our lug nuts on one of our tires. We've never had this happen on our previous tire changes or work that needed to be done when removing the tires, and now our lug nuts were ruined. Hmmm?I'm pretty sure it was a service error (this is not the worst of it). Byron offered to put new lug nuts on our tires (for a cost), we refused. We got our lug nuts from Napa and brought it by Firestone to put on the tires and that was that. We paid for services rendered and the expensive Fire Hawk tires. Fast forward to Monday 7/17/23. My son needed to use the car. He called his dad and told him there's something not right with the brakes. It kept pushing all the way down. My husband checked the brakes and found there was a brake leak. Keep in mind I've been driving this car to and from work since getting the car back on 7/12/23 and we haven't had any work done to it since. He found a brake hose that "mysteriously" had a slit cut into it. There's no way this slit could've been made by the car or anything else on the road. The area where the hose was leaking from would be impossible to reach unless the car was lifted, and the tire removed. What infuriates me is that whomever this individual was that did this, tried to sabotage my car. They took the risk of putting other people's lives in danger, whether in the car, on the road, or people just walking around while I'm driving, all so we could come back and get something fixed by Firestone or just having a messed-up car. I'm happy no one got hurt because it could've turned out bad if we couldn't stop the car (yes, I know there's an emergency brake, not the point). I don't think they understand how bad this could've turned out. My husband and I refuse to talk to Byron about this because nothing good will come from it. Nothing will get resolved. It's obvious how this was done. We're not idiots. I have been a Firestone customer for years and I'm outraged that someone could stoop so low to do this. I'm so angry by their unprofessional service and careless act that I'm actually posting a review (which I never do things like this) to have customers be aware of possible sabotage. And I'm not the first to say this. You should really read the reviews for this location. I expect something to be done to rectify this massive f**k up on Firestone's part, especially because they put my children's and other lives in danger, but I don't think anything will happen. I wish I knew how to post a video we took of how this tiny slit was able to cause such a bad brake leak, but we just had a pic of it after my husband replaced it with a new brake hose. Had to get my new-ish Civic Type R towed here because my tire went flat while driving nearby. We had no issues up until the point of pickup. Would've been a 5 star review but we had the absolute worst service from the service manager, Byron Love. I only know his name because he yelled it at me as he got into our face over some confusion we had. The front end manager had to physically remove him from 1 foot away from my face. Easily the most unprofessional and emotional service manager I've ever encountered. It seemed that he was taking everything we said personally or as an offense, and that's not the case. He immediately got aggressive, clapping his hands and yelling. When we asked for the manager he said "no, I'm not getting anyone for you." So we headed back inside and found Jessy! Jessy is the only reason they get 3 stars. Her professionalism and level headedness deserves recognition. She is such a kind manager with high standards. We are so grateful for her throughout this experience. We are going to send the video of Byron Loves temper tantrum to corporate and hopefully they get rid of this petulant "service manager." Picked the car up after the tire was finished being changed and every single one of my dash lights was on, saying every mechanical system was not functioning (LKAS, ACC, electric braking?????, lane assist, literally every single light) We went back in and talked with Byron who came out to take a look. He told us the tow truck most likely broke all of it if it hit the transmission. We tried to explain that the lights weren't on after it was dropped off from the tow. The technician that worked on the car also didn't make a note of any of the lights on, as he should've, before or after repair so it was even more baffling that Byron wanted to accept ZERO responsibility on behalf of the company. Simply took my Nissan Juke in for a safety check and now I have no car for six weeks and counting... I am recently disabled, and depend on my cars customized specs to meet my daily living duties. Sadly, I. simply took my car in to get a safety check from Firestone and it has been over six weeks and my car is still not in the operating condition it was when I originally dropped it off for a safety check. They denied my safety check saying I needed to have my shafts replaced. I paid for the shafts to be replaced when they call me to pick my car up. My car was making a nightmarish sound and I was too scared to drive it anymore and took it back! They INSTALLED A DEFECTED SHAFT! Firestone then said that the defected shaft that cracked my transmission case and caused a transmission leak! Four weeks later, no follow up communication from them, I call and call and call... one month later they say the act is ready to pick up. I pick up my car and it's making NEW horrible sounds I never heard before! Tell Firestone they need to fix it and they said it's my exhaust! Firestone had my car for six weeks and all they have done is sabotaged me as a nissan owner and totaled my car for me as a disabled person! They have ruined my lvilihood and what I depend on to get food and go to work; and have created a cascade of misfortune and hardship for me in the last several weeks! My car is still not in the operating condition they received it in after I already paid almost $3k to upkeep the car and they create new damages to my car. They have tampered and totaled my car! Do not take your car to Firestone especially if you are a NISSAN OWNER! They made it very clear that they hate working on Nissans and they constantly use Nissan as a scapegoat to avoid accountability for the work they did on my car! Firestone will not get away with ruining people cars and livelihoods. IF YOU ARE A JISSAN OWNER FO NOT BRING YOUR NOSSAN TO FIRESTONE KAILUE THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR CAR AND CHARGE YOU FOR PHANTOM PROBLEMS THEY THEMSELVES HAVE CREATED! I have been servicing my family vehicles at Firestone Kailua for 20 years, so to change providers for me is a big deal. I had an appointment at 7am. I showed up at 645 and watched the service manager, Robert, pull into the front customer stall, then casually goes about morning business, answering the phone, walking about, without regard to my presence. At 7, I attempted to leave the key in the service area, and he directed me to wait, without so much of a concern for my schedule. So I left. If you have an appointment at 7, it means start working at 7. Don't ignore your customers. When I called to formally cancel my appointment, no apology, nothing. I had my tires replaced back in January. They were the most expensive quote I received but I wanted the best. The day they changed my tires my air pressure light turned on my dash it hasn't shut off since. I was leaving for an international flight by the time they could fit me in to look at it, then Covid came when I got back and I was not making any unnecessary appointments. Now that things have settled down I called to schedule the appointment to get this done so I can get my safety check and move on. Not only were there no notes from the guy I originally spoke with, who said he was typing it into "my file", but they are charging me a diagnostics fee. As a business owner, I believe this is something that they should look into since it occurred the day they worked on my vehicle. However it's so hard to get an appointment. I really need to get another set of tires for my other car. It's one of the reasons it sparked me to reach out to them again. However, the customer service is as important as the product. It is currently 3:04pm on New Years Eve, and I am waiting for my vehicle to be serviced, for a simple oil change. This typically takes 1-1.5 hours max. I dropped off my car at 11:15am, 15 minutes before my appointment. I came back at 2pm, and my car was still sitting in the exact same spot. I asked how much longer it would take and the guy behind the counter told me a couple more hours. A couple more hours? Keep in mind, closing time is 5:00pm. Three months ago, I had come in for a safety inspection. The manager told me they didn't have anyone to do the safety check that day, and to come back the next weekend. I asked if I could make an appointment. She said I didn't need one, I just needed to drop off the car on any day that weekend. Behold, I come back the following weekend and there was no one there to do the safety check, and that I needed to make an appointment. The same manager was there. She told me she had appointments available in two weeks. I made one. I gave this place another chance for the oil change and they continuously do not deliver. I'm not sure what is going on at this location, but the customer service here is unbelievably horrible. They need to stop overbooking, or tell customers accurate working times. Or hire more efficient mechanics. And customer service representatives. Anything really, just stop being so bad. read more

Yesterday was the second time I called upon Firestone, and they were amazing both times! The first time had to do with a flat tire, normally not a huge problem, but I have an Audi TT with special sized tires, and it seemed I would likely have to drive into town from Kailua on my spare to get the tire I needed. Firestone called a warehouse and got one delivered for me within a day saving me the stress of that drive and I'm sure the added expense of the dealership's prices. Yesterday, I needed coolant added after my car was running too hot the prior night. They not only checked and filled my coolant, they topped off my oil and made sure I had proper air pressure in my tires, and they wouldn't charge me! This place is terrible. Don't waste your time and go somewhere else. Made an appointment 3 weeks ago to bring in my dads car for an oil change and safety check. Made the appointment because they stated that with an appointment they can guarantee to get the car done within a timely manner. If I were to walk in they wouldn't be able to tell how long it would take. Appointment was for 1000. Dropped off the car at 0930 and stated that it would take 2-3 hrs. Called at 1200 to see if the car was done. They said they hadn't gotten to it yet but it was the next one up. Called again at 1330 and they still didn't even start working on the car yet. Why the hell bother to make an appointment when they don't even care. I was told by someone who worked for Firestone that if a walk in comes in that requires more work and will make more money for the store they will take that car before anyone whose work doesn't make as much profit. Firestone saved me today. I punctured my tire on my way to work today. I started with the closest option to where it happened and they were closed for another hour. Tried the next closest place and they couldn't help me for a few hours due to lack of workers. My last shot was Firestone. By the time I got there my tire was done. The air was gone. At first they told me it would be a few hours to fix it. I think they could tell by the look on my face and maybe the tears in my eyes that I just was having a crap morning. The wonderful employee said "we will take care of it. It won't take a few hours" I am so grateful for this gentleman who helped me out this morning.
