I had a really disappointing experience at Midas and feel like others should be aware before choosing this location. From the start, the customer service was lacking. I felt rushed when explaining the issue with my car, and the staff didn't seem interested in listening or asking follow-up questions. Communication was unclear, and I had to repeatedly ask for updates on the status of my vehicle. What frustrated me the most was the lack of transparency. The pricing wasn't clearly explained upfront, and I ended up being surprised by that were never properly discussed. It made me feel like I couldn't trust the recommendations being made. On top of that, the overall professionalism just wasn't there. The experience felt disorganized, and I left with more concerns than confidence in the work that was done. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. I would not recommend this location and will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. read more

Don't let the 3-star overall rating fool you, most of the 1-star reviews are from a while ago. The staff here is very friendly. My trucks tire rotation and balancing was done a lot faster than I expected. Went to eat breakfast and figure out what to do while I wait, but got a call that my vehicle was ready for pickup. Went in for oil change/ tire rotation and to address loose exhaust issue. Very short wait and the front desk girls were very nice. Manager J.P. personally worked on the exhaust issue and solved it effortlessly. J.P. was very professional and caring for me as a customer. He even found and gifted a lug nut key because I didn't have one to rotate the tires. This is old school mom and pop style customer service that is usually lacking these days. Location: One of the few businesses in the area that does safety checks and the only one that do walk-ins. Easy to get to and close to shops and food establishments so can do all errands or pass time easily when waiting for a service. Cleanliness: The office/waiting area is well kept. I have been to some that clearly had oil and dirt brought in through foot traffic. Customer Service: Friendly with clear communication on what to expect. They made it easy to make a mundane task pleasant. Perks: Got coffee, tea, water, comfortable cushioned seats and tv. Just know they only have 4 seats. Other thoughts: They do get really busy so I'd call and ask how available they are for what you need done. Will be back for all my car maintenance needs read more

This auto shop has multiple reviews stating that they overcharge for scheduled appointments and create extra charges. I can confirm that it's absolutely true. I took my SUV into this shop after needing a new alternator. They quoted me almost $2000 and tried to convince me to open a credit card account. I'm addition to the alternator they insisted I had to replace many other parts. I took my car to another shop for a second opinion and they replaced my alternator for less than $1000! When I asked about the parts that midas tried to replace I was told that they were all in good condition! Overall, I felt that due to my lack of knowledge in cars, midas tried to lie and overcharge me. I don't recommend this shop unless you have adequate knowledge in car parts. read more

Drove down with no appointment hoping to see if they have availability and noticed one car was finished up at 3:22pm and no other car was present. I began to back up my car to make it easier to unload my tire and asked a gentleman for a quick and easy repair and immediately gave me the news that they are done for the day. They don't close until 5pm. I ignored it and unloaded the tire with desperation to help me help find air spill which they tried not to help at all. Until his mechanic came and spotted it and marked it down which was the only helpful thing they did. They told me it needs a new tire and they can't repair it. And again told me they are done for the day. I wanted a quote so as the gentleman goes to his computer I asked if his mechanic can mount my old tire back on while he works on that (knowing it'll only take 5 mins to mount the old tire back) and he refuses without asking his mechanic if he'll be okay doing that. I also asked what time they close and he said nothing... until I responded, 4:00? And he responded, "yup 4 today." Keep in mind it's 3:30 at this point. So in conclusion they weren't taking anyone in for the day and they weren't busy which makes sense how bad of customer service they have and I won't recommend anyone to go here. It just seems they don't care so if you decide to go here because it's the closest I highly recommend driving a little more for their close neighbors instead. read more

Came here when I first got to island in 2019. The front brakes had uneven wear and one the pads ate into the rotor. Brought it here because this was the nearest mechanic. They tried to upsell me and make me change both the damaged one and the good one - then when I refused they blamed their botched work on my decision not to change out a perfectly good rotor I drove out of the mechanic shop with screeching coming from their replaced rotor and brake. They kept on blaming me for not changing out the perfectly good rotor despite the noise not coming from that side. Luckily there was an honest mechanic there that told the truth. They ended up putting a TON of anti-squeal grease on the pads and told me sorry we don't know what's wrong with it. I was able to drive my car home, open up the calipers, carefully seat the pads in the grooves fix it. read more

Hey everyone, if you want fair pricing and honest mechanic work, do not come to Midas here in Kailua, Oahu. Initially my vehicle was find and driving well, I brought it in to Midas Kailua just for an oil change and now it's broken. They stripped off the lug-nut and stud of my front right tire and couldn't put it back. After that they were trying to charge me $300 for the replacement for the single lug-nut and stud. I found that ludicrous. The guy at reception said they just found out it was broken when it had no issues before. Now I have a $300 repair in my hand. In addition, I did a little research and inquire to other mechanic shops and got a quote for the exact same repair. The repair was ranging from $50 to $150 maximum. Thanks Midas, for taking advantage of people and charging them your premium prices. I will never come back to this place ever again. read more

If I could I'd give it zero. It's been 3 hours for a simple oil change. I asked them to look at my brakes to see what there opinion is. As I'm walking around town I see my car pulling into a grocery store parking lot. Never mentioned to them I wanted them to drive it nor did they mention the need to take it for a spin. Then they said wanted to charge me $1,100 for brakes and rotors. Absurd. They basically have taken my car for a joy ride and are on your 3 of an oil change. I have been to this Midas location about 3 times this month and all 3 times I was trying to get in for a safety check. First time I was too late and they weren't taking any more customers for safety checks. Second time it was my fault I didn't have my paperwork and third time was today when I finally was there early enough and had all my papers! Thank God Devin is always patient and effective. On Saturday I was one of the first people in line and was told the system went down but I could try come back later. Couldn't go back because of work. Came back on Monday, showed up at 7:05am (5 min after they open) and they already had 6 people standing in line. Luckily these guys were banging out cars left and right with a quickness! I was waiting probably only 20 min when the mechanic/ technician came and got me. He put up my car and did a thorough inspection. He told me about a weak just starting just to give a heads up about it but other than that I was good to good for my safety check! Super stoked I finally get in and Devon gave me a printout if the estimation for whatever repair I might need in the near future. I like this place. Super easy to get to and very close to home. Devin is very nice and seems to know what he's doing. He's polite and he tries to get the customers in and out as quick as he can. They technicians work so hard and are moving quickly and safely. Not sure how their prices for anything is but the customer services and the safety check process was super easy. This is the only place with WALK IM SAFETY CHECKS near me. In the past I have been happy with their service but .. I scheduled an Oil Change and safety check for Saturday. At the time I mentioned that I would drop car off on Friday so all would be ready. Listed closing time is 5 P.M. I got there at 4:20 P.M. Friday afternoon and the place was locked up tighter then a drum. Left one messge while i stood in front. All call backs after that just kept ringing until I was disconnected. No answering machine. Very disappointed that I made an appointment with a specific request that I drop the car off te night before and because they closed at least 40 minutes early I was unable to do so. a day ago NEW Safety check. I was told to arrive and leave my car 2 hrs before opening which I did to stand in line. I awoke 20mins after open and had a voicemail stating my car was going to be towed. I arrived to start my safety check and was rudely told it will not be done. I did what was asked and was told I still cannot receive service in a rude and unprofessional way. Terrible staff and customer service. In all honesty if you would have worked with me to ensure what I needed was taken care of instead of just throwing me out like a piece of garbage than I would have felt like I was taken care of. Instead Devin, and Lorne just casually threw me aside even after they instructed me to do what I did. I have been trying for 2 months to take care of this issue and yet no one here cares. I have tried other establishments with similar abilities and same reaction. The only one with the want to take care of you is on Kapaa Quarry. I have scheduled with them and they already have good history with my family here. They rebuilt my brother's car without making us feel like it's a problem to pay to fix what we need. read more
