Came into town to treat my family to some thai food after a nice day at Joshua tree. My brother in law asked where the restroom was and the lady ignored him. He thought maybe she didn't hear him so he politely asked again to which she responded "GET THE KEY FROM ME" in a very rude manner. We didn't even get to sit down before deciding to walk out. First things first, I placed an order at 4:15 for a 5pm pickup. I got there a little early at 4:40 and checked in with the lady working the register. I had no problem waiting because I got there early. That was until my food didn't come out until 5:40. I waited an entire hour in the restaurant for my phone order!!! Knocked it down a star because of this. The inside of the restaurant is pretty big and has a lot of dining area space which you wouldn't expect from the outside. We got the pad Thai, Mongolian beef, and chicken panang, all of which was really really good. I loved all of the flavours and really enjoyed the meal. The pad Thai was amazing and had a bit of a crunch from the peanuts. Dipped in the panang curry was to die for!! The panang curry was delicious and everything was still warm when we got back to our air b n b. I loved the veggies that came with the beef too!! Overall I would say that this is a solid Thai spot. If you are craving some Thai food in the Joshua tree area I recommend giving it a try! Absolutely horrible first experience here today! Not only was the food nasty and cold the service was EVEN WORSE. We were the first table to walk in, followed by an Asian group of about 8. They were seated first, given menus first, order taken first, and started getting food before we even got our drinks! It was almost like she didn't want us to eat there. This was at best, the most mediocre Thai food I've had. Like many people who come here, I was visiting Joshua Tree and looking for a place to eat dinner. I hadn't had Thai food in a while which is why I picked this place. It took a while for the server to take down our orders for food, even though the restaurant wasn't that busy (but it did get busier after we left). I got the Tom Yum noodle soup because it was cold outside and I wanted something to warn me up. The vegetables (carrots, peas) were without a doubt either frozen vegetables or canned vegetables. I could tell from the texture that they were not fresh. That part kinda ruined the entire dish for me, but I still finished it because I was hungry from a long day of hiking. The noodles and fish balls were alright, and the rest was just nothing special. The curry that my boyfriend ordered also didn't really stand out. The consistency was pretty watered down. And, it also had the same vegetables that was in the noodle soup - either canned or frozen. For that reason, I don't think I'd return to this business if I am in the area again. We gathered at this restaurant with a large group of friends for Christmas dinner. What a mistake. I spent time on the phone when I made the reservation explaining that we would be a large group. I called twice to let them know in fact. My husband and I arrived fifteen minutes prior to our reservation so we could prepare the staff and move tables if necessary. It was all to no avail. From the moment we walked in we were treated with pure disdain--especially from the hostess, who was dressed in goth attire and had her face painted like a cat. I guess we should have gotten the hint and left right then, but instead we sat down and waited for our friends... To make a VERY long story short, we waited two and a half hours for our food, which came out one dish at a time with half an hour to forty-five minutes between dishes being served. During that time my husband went to the front twice with the water pitcher and asked the hostess to please fill it. Twice, she flatly refused. That cannot be anything but mean-spirited sociopathic behavior. Unfortunately I had time to visit the restroom, which was just as disgusting as the reviewer above describes. I think we should have left. As I write this I am hoping hard that we don't all get sick. The food was greasy and lukewarm. Here is what might be the worst part. Many MANY other groups of diners came and went, along with a steady stream of people picking up takeout. We sat and waited while the tables around us turned over more than once. I cannot help but think this was deliberate. Maybe we were not their kind of people. I'll just leave it at that. Thai Café in Twentynine Palms California is a no-go zone and I would recommend steering well clear of the place. Pretty decent Thai food when we were visiting the national parks. Pleasantly surprised. I had the "spicy noodle" AKA pad kee mao. We also had the pad Thai, pad see ew and the pineapple curry. Super flavorful, with great balance in terms of flavor. My only critique was that the rice noodles for both the pad see ew and keep mao were a bit soft/mushy. The staff was friendly and attentive. This place was a random stop after our hike at Joshua Tree and it was sooo yummy! Very authentic green curry and the pad see yew and fried rice weren't over seasoned or too salty at all. One of the best Thai places I've been to! (And I've been to countless) We ordered: 1. Som Tam (papaya salad)- sauce was PERFECTLY acidic, sweet, sour, and spicy. Fun textures in the salad! 2. Pork fried rice- rice absorbed so much flavor and the portion was huge! 3. Curry with fish filet- fish was very tender and the curry had just the right amount of basil to enhance the flavors. 4. Last day at Joshua Tree and wanted lunch before leaving town. Thai Cafe came up as close by and had an excellent rating. So there I was in a lovey little restaurant next to a tattoo parlor with a courteous server bringing me a menu. The selections all looked quite standard and I was in the mood for my old standby Pad Thai. I ordered that and waited just under 10 minutes when a beautiful plate of food arrived. I noticed right away the shredded carrots on the side along with crushed peanuts, also on the side. I was impressed by the presentation and then wowed by the wonderful flavors. The more I dug in the more I enjoyed my meal. It was a nice serving size, I couldn't finish it but wanted to! Well, now I wish I discovered this place sooner! Positives: 1) Friendly service, quick food, delicious food. 2) Price Improvement opportunities: 1) The place was takeout only due to covid but it was dark and dreary on the inside. Very disappointed in this place. We order Curry and we were told by the server that medium was not that hot. When we got it and had only one spoon full, our mouth was burning. I am saying so hot our mouths were burning and we lost out sence of taste. After a day of camping I was starving and wanted some real food after eating canned soup the night before so I came here and am so glad I did! I had the red curry, spicy level heat and it was so good and exactly what I was looking for. I also ordered steamed broccoli for my dog and it was the perfect amount of steamed, not too mushy and still a little crunchy, she loved it. The sweet rice with mango was also delicious. I ordered the pineapple fried rice, but they forgot about it but the cream cheese wontons, and the dumplings were all delicious.
