FANTASTIC MENU (small but mighty!): We got one of everything on the menu and LOVED it!! (3 adults and we were super full) 10/10: Aguachiles - Everyone's FAVORITE. Wow it was packed with so much flavor and freshness, every bite created new textures and tastes. YES, you will want to "drink the sauces" (as Vito S. says in his review). They should seriously BOTTLE THAT SAUCE!!! Sell it online. Work your social media! We wanted to dip everything into that sauce. 10/10: Sungold Tostada - stunningly beautiful and delicious. MY Personal Favorite - every bite was soo yummy and unctuous and crunchy and creamy and yummy. I actually dream about this dish, it's so freaking good. It's light and delicious. I want more. 10/10: Cauliflower Esquites - everything you want in their version of Mexican sweet corn. 10/10: Maple Habanero Quesatacos: A perfect brunch taco. Such a unique creation with that CRUNCH of the crispy cheese shell enfolded with the soft tortilla (almost like a naan bread), topped with soft custard egg and a subtle maple flavor. So good and super hearty. I crave this. 8/10: Chicken Tinga Tostada: It was delicious and juicy. For my tastes, it needed a bit more freshness, crunch and acidity. 8/10: Flan: Loved the perfect texture of the flan (smooth and custard firm), and the cherries draped over it. For my tastes, it needed a bite of acidity in the cherries/sauce. The cocoa nibs were a great crunch. Would have liked to add a bit of freshness too. OVERALL -- ABSOLUTE GEM! We were lucky to be in town on a night when they were serving food. The cocktails were good and the quesadilla was excellent as was the guacamole. We'd tried some of everything but the flan and it was all delicious. Some of did repeat across the different dishes but we still enjoyed them. read more

What a treat! I have been to Palms Springs the last few years for work. Happy that was wahere when this place is open: W-Th from 6-11 pm at the T & T. The cauliflower dish was so so good. The aguachiles was good as well but not the best I have had. The flan though, oh wow wow! By far one of the best I have had in a very long time. The creamy texture but not mushy and the fruits on time was a great enhancement. Amazing experience for me. Not sure how long the pop up will be around but I would certainly be back again to try other dishes. The server was great and the ambiance is super causal. Only open Wednesday, was worth the wait. Food was delicious. Aguachilies like nothing i had before. The chilled shrimp ceviche was perfect on a hot day. Very flavorful and spice picked up throughout the meal. But not too spicy, just perfect Best Flan i have ever eaten. Standa on its own. Although i personally could have done without the coco nibs. Where do I begin? My wife and I were roaming around Palm Springs on a honeymoon vacation one Sunday night and we stumbled upon a teeny tiny empty open patio restaurant(come to learn they were trying to find a permanent location). We decided we were going to try it out as the menu we had looked at, spoke to me directly, as my family is from Oaxacan. I am familiar with Mole and Chapulines, they had me at that. From the very beginning, while looking at the silverware... I knew this was going to be either breathtaking or a disastrous cover up for god awful food. Well, if you've gotten this far... based on my 5 star review... you know that I was left short of breath. The silverware shined in such a way, that they would put some of the most expensive steakhouses to shame, their glasses crystal clean. The service, was on point. The server was well mannered and genuine, sadly because I was in the moment, I did not get his name. At the time, we ordered the Bread and Butter, Agua Chiles, Birria Ramen, The Octopus Tetela, Flan with Kumquat and Chapulines. When I say that everything was creative and full of flavor... it is and was exactly that. Bread and Butter, the sourdough bread was toasted to perfection, the butter was a unique blend I believe of Morita Chile and Lava Salt... if you thought bread at large food chain restaurants was your enemy... this simple plate would have left all those moments you experienced in the past... in the past. Aguachiles was the most complex flavored dish of the night.... each bite you took, left you tasting different flavors and textures. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the unique sauce the dish had with the lime, salsa macha, grapes, avocado... no words to describe it but simply worked. The Octopus Tetela. Octopus cooked beautifully. Slight char, not rubbery, soft, refined. Paired with the pork beans and Pipian, another hit. Flan with Kumquats.... never had I ever thought to see kumquats on a Mexican dish.. it maybe a be a common dish elsewhere but to me, that was a new one. You would expect that the kumquats would engulf the flans flavor... somehow, it paired perfectly. Each bite left me with a smile and my wife could see it all over my face. Of course I ended the night with chapulines, perfect. My wife enjoyed her Birria Ramen, unfortunately, I had ordered way too much and knew exactly what I wanted to eat and kept it at that and did not get to try the dish. She too, just as I, shared the same feeling about Hoja Blanca, simply the best restaurant to date in Palm Springs. This review is not for the people who go to restaurants and remove ingredients from menu dishes or for those who expect traditional Mexican food. This restaurant is for people who are open to new ideas or give ingredients they dislike, a second try, for those who understand what "Modern Mexican Inspired" actually entails and ultimately enjoy food that comes from chefs who make their dishes appear as a work of art. I hope that if you go ahead and give this restaurant a shot, that you thoroughly enjoy your experience and get to feel the way I do about Hoja Blanca. read more

I still think about their food. We were truly blown away. I thought I had had it all, but now I'm not sure how anyone else's aguachile is going to top Chef Omar's for me. The quesadilla was absolutely incredible, the tostada was tasty, and everything just LOOKED beautiful. Truss and Twine is a perfect venue for Hoja Blanca's pop up, and their drinks are really complementary. What started as a super unassuming dinner turned into one of the most memorable meals. We were really happy with our experience. We didn't have a reservation, but arrived right at 5p when they opened and had no issue sitting at the bar. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, cauliflower elotes, aguachiles, and birra ramen. Everything was tasty, but the veggies were standouts. Would highly recommend stopping in. read more

This is a fantastic addition to the Palm Springs food scene! Beautiful outdoor seating and a small menu of some of the most well-executed, artistically plated Mexican-ish food I've had in SoCal. I especially loved the quesabirria tacos, but the hamachi tostada and the beet salad were also excellent. The bread with chile butter was delicious as well. This was formerly a pop-up restaurant, and I'm glad to see they have a permanent location with an adjacent cocktail bar, Bar Chingona. Highly recommend ordering a drink (or two or three) from them too! read more
