I've been searching for a hair stylist in Maui for years. I moved here from LA a couple years ago and I just couldn't find anyone good enough after going to my 'special salon' in Redondo Beach for many many years. Then I came across a review of this salon on Rowena and thought I'd give her a try. Well... I'm very happy I did! She was so gentle and thoughtful with everything she did with my hair. From shampooing, to blow drying and finally to cutting. She was so meticulous and talked with me a lot about what I wanted. It was hard for me to explain what I wanted at first but she did get it and did an amazing job. I highly recommend this lady to anyone who demands excellence from her stylist. I had a morning wedding back in July in Maui and so I needed someone who could do my hair super early (6:30 am). 808 Hair Salon was super close by to where we were staying so I contacted them to see if someone might be interested in coming early to style my hair. Without delay they contacted me back and got me all set up with Kimberly Floyd. That day our rental car wouldn't start so I was super stressed once I arrived to my appt (15 min late) and was a little nervous about how things would turn out since I had absolutely no clue what to expect from Kimberly. But she was absolutely AMAZING!! Couldn't have been happier with her. She was calm and confident in her ability to give me the curls and body I wanted out of my fine straight hair and she was experienced in working with floral crowns. She got to work right away and helped ease my nerves. She finished on time and my hair was stunning! Seriously I couldn't believe what a beautiful job she did I couldn't believe it was my hair!!! Came back. I love what Veronica did with my hair. I have a really thick hair and it's so hard to give it soft curls when it's short and thick. Hair feels so light. Falisha was also very helpful at tips how to protect hair from constant straightening and curling. I believe in second chances and I am very happy and satisfied to come back to them. read more

Well..I went in for my appt to get a Brazilian blowout..Jeremy was very personable..but then...he went to the dark side..I sat down in the chair to get my hair washed and he splashed water in my face..not on purpose..so I made what I thought was a funny commment..and he took major offense and refused to do my hair..I apologized profusely and he still refused..what kind of business operates like this??? And he's the owner..will not recommend him or his business..he gets a minus when it comes to customer service..and after all..isn't that what his business is all about.. read more

I went in for a hair cut with my fiancé. Jeremy the owner was supposed to give me the haircut and was finishing up on a previous customer. He told me I would be next, However when it was my turn he just ignored me and started servicing someone else that had just walked in ! I was recommended to this salon by a friend. The prices looked good and it's close to home so I gave it a shot. My feelings towards my experience are very mixed. I initially went into the salon to get my hair dyed from faded purple that was from the middle of my back to the tips. The top of it was still brown. I asked for Balayage, I was told by Jeremy that he could do it- So we went for it. I wish I would have stuck with what I had. My hair turned green in some parts and an ugly orange. Most parts were pretty fried and elastic. I was so sad. There was a long moment of awkwardness. I actually felt like I was expected to come up with a solution. I felt like my hair was so damaged that it needed to be cut. I wasn't about to go home like that! I told him "fuck it cut it, it's so damaged" and He told me he wanted me to make sure I wasn't making a crazy postpartum decision. Again- my hair was crap after trying to balayage it that I felt like I had no choice. I feel like that never should have happened. Once he cut of My hip length hair to shoulder length he was able to work with the healthier part of it. He did a nice brown at the root that faded to a caramel color at the tips and actually did a good haircut. It was a new look and I liked it but about a month later I returned from a trip and ended up going back to him for a longer A-line bob because a lot of my hair was still very damaged and the tips were kind of orangish again. The cut turned out good. I like how he cuts hair but I won't be getting my hair dyed there again. As far as haircuts though- he is really good. So yeah. Mixed feelings. read more

Jeremy is a very nice guy (well he was to me) but he chemically fried my hair and had to get 8 inches cut off. I wasn't going to post a review cause I thought it was a one time thing but I have learned from many woman that the same thing has happened to them. Kinda odd how he expressed to me on the phone that this never happens. Yes he did refund my money but it will take at least 2 years to get my length back. Where do I start...I really have fine hair that falls out and I really have a low self esteem due to years of physical/mental and emotional abuse from my past. I had my husband call to schedule me a haircut/style appointment with someone who specializes or someone who I'd feel comfortable with. Sure enough I was blessed to have Dandy work on me. Initially when I called to make the appointment, he called me back to verify exactly what I was looking for, and went an extra mile to accommodate me on the day I needed. I recently dyed my hair at a different salon on Maui, but I hated it soooooooo much. It was black and brown and blonde, it was overall a mess until I found about this salon. I went in and talked to Jeremy about what I can do to try and fix my hair to tone it down with all the colors and he took it really professionally. I later made an appointment and when the time came, Jeremy did a fantastic job! He really knows what he's doing and actually cares about how you look. I walked in a few days ago right as they opened just to get my sides and neck touched up. I've never been to 808 before except with my wife who was taken care by the owner, Jeremy, the weekend before. She loves her pixie cut and will definitely be going back. However, what really stands out to me is the day I dropped in they were booked but Jeremy happened to be in for a morning meeting on his day off and offered to take me. When I thankfully declined not wanting to ruin his day off and said I was happy to come back later he insisted and gave me the best fade I've gotten in years. What to do? .... Be a Yelp explorer, check out Salon reviews and photos, then make an informed decision to avoid looking like a hair 'Don't' when you walk out. I chose 808 Hair Salon and owner, Jeremy. I made an appointment for cut and color which was 3 days out - always a good sign, when a stylist is that busy it's a positive. The salon bustles, but has a relaxing vibe to it. Everyone is uber friendly, I felt comfortable the moment I walked in. Jeremy is a true professional. We discussed what I was looking for in style and color. He suggested I text my stylist on products she uses for lift and color so he could ensure compatibility. My stylist incommunicado, I could only share that it's high end stuff. 808 only uses high end salon products so he began to do his thing, blended lift and color into my platinum-ish look. Perfectly. No mean feat. Time for cut and style, I have short hair, so I asked him to take the length back up but do his thing as he saw fit to do it. Stylists are artists in their own right, and I'm chill like that. Again, beautiful cut, but we know the real test is making that cut work after washing at home. Style is awesome, easy, I don't need a ton of product to make it happen, and I walk out of my condo here looking like I walked out of the salon - every day. THAT is a pro stylist. Lastly. Jeremy's personality is mellow, sincere, and funny.
