Overall this was a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. I made an appointment to have my color touched up (roots) with the owner Jermey. Upon driving up to the salon I noticed that they had their doors wide open despite the 92degree temperature. This was my first mistake that I didn't just leave- especially after entering the salon and immediately dripping sweat. When I inquired as to if they have air condition, the owner said yes and that a client was receiving a keratin treatment and they wanted to have the doors open to circulate the air? In my 30+ years of going to hair salons I've never heard of such a thing- well I've never heard of it because it just wasn't true. I found this out when it was time to rinse my hair and there was a drip splattering onto me and the chair where my hair was being washed and I was told by the assistant that, they were having trouble with the air conditioning. Um, yeah. Then when I told her I was getting splashed she said she was sorry and that it was beyond their control. Maybe beyond her's personally and how about the owner calling an air-condition repair service? Again, it was my mistake to not have walked out once I arrived to find it sweltering. To round out my experience, it was the worst shampoo / scalp massage I've ever had, and that was disappointing as it's typically a relaxing highlight. And then she wrapped the towel so tight it was pulling on my scalp so I asked if she could loosen it and instead she undid it all together, and now I'm sitting back in the chair with a soaking wet towel around my shoulders. Then she proceeds to comb out and put styling moose in my curly hair after I asked for curl cream. She never even towel dried my hair, and let me stand up with soaking wet hair. I did request that it not be diffused, as I was so hot- and I didn't imagine that it wouldn't even be towel dried? The owner never once came back over after he applied the color - to check on it, or style me. Thankfully the color is spot on. $70, a little steep- especially for this caliber of service and salon. I will never return to this salon. It's not worth it. I had to put my car air conditioner on full blast to cool down, then come home and rewash and style my hair in the end. read more

I was desperate for a color during our month long vacation in Maui and found 808 Salon on line. First and above all Jeremy and his staff were wonderful. They even offered a glass of wine. Unexpected but very thoughtful. I have to say I was quite nervous about my color and trying a new salon. 808 Salon uses the Davines Brand. What a fabulous product. My color has never been so lasting. Usually it faded dramatically after 10 days to 2 weeks. Not with Davines. OMG, it's been 3 weeks and it looks the same as it did the first day. However, without Jeremy choosing the right combination of color, Davines wouldn't have made a difference. I think I would therefor have to say Davines and Jeremy kept me feeling completely satisfied with how my hair has looked for the past three weeks even as the grey grows in. Hi My Name Is Elaine and I had my hair colored yesterday, Sept 28, 2015 at 808 Hair Salon in Kihei. I live in Lahaina and I have to say it was definately worth the drive to Kihei to get the result I got. I love my hair. I have to say Jeremy was professional and definately new what he was doing. I recently moved to Maui and travel back and forth from the Mainland. I sometimes have my hair colored in the Mainland and then have to get it colored here in Maui often as well. I get color about every 3 to 4 weeks and I have to say that getting someone to match what someone else does in a totally different state is not always easy but guess what I found my miracle here in Maui. Yes, love Jeremy at 808 Hair Salon. I will be back in 3 to 4 weeks. I have to say his prices are extremely fair especially since most everything is so expensive here! Love this place! Rebecca is !!!AWESOME!!! 2 Thumbs & on a scale of 1 to 10 I give her an 11. After 3 disastrous experiences getting a spiral perm and a lot of time growing my out and letting it repair I was very hesitant to try again. The day of my appointment one of the other hair stylists was late coming in but Rebecca was accommodating to all the customers and I didn't mind the wait it was well worth it she was very fast but a perfectionist at the same time the end result was exactly what I had pictured and the price was right. I also sent my best friend there for a cut and highlights again her hair was awesome. I will continue to have Rebecca as my stylist and follow her where ever she may go and refer all my friends to her. Thanks Rebecca your AWESOME! You deserve some recognition. i was talking to one of the stylists at amigos. she told me to come try 808 hair salon and that any of the stylists are great so no one individual needed to be sought. it was worth paying at least double what a normal cut costs in kihei. i made my appointment on line after hours with kc. i arrived 15 min early to find an angry woman waiting at the desk with the receptionist. after 5 minutes not being acknowledged a stylist came to the counter apologizing to the unhappy customer. she said she would squeeze her in. turns out this was kc. the receptionist finally addressed me and i told her i had an appoint with her at 3. she immediately said she was running behind 15 minutes. i asked what time i should come back. after conferring with kc i was told it would be 330. this of course was minimizing the time when in reality she was at least an hour behind. the bottom line is that the reservation system is a fraud. i could now wait for an incompetent stylist who was clearly frazzled because she is so behind and dealing with upset clients prior to me. meaning i will be rushed through getting extremely poor service and a bad cut only to get ripped off when i pay. my advice is go somewhere else. this place is a joke. instead of recommending the salon after i get a cut i will be warning anyone i encounter to steer clear of this poorly run business which hires incompetent staff. read more

Thanks to Jeremy at 808 Hair Salon for transforming my dry, over processed, frizz-laden thing of a mane into beautiful, shiny, healthy hair! I heard about 808 Hair Salon through Yelp. I was attracted to this salon by 1) their extremely reasonable prices 2) the Yelp deal that they're offering and 3) Yelp reviews by previous customers. I was extremely happy with my experience here. The salon was clean and comfortable (I always get finicky about trying new salons because sometimes, they are freeeeezing cold and I end up uncomfortable for 3-4 hours, but the temperature was perfect in this salon). The staff was friendly and accommodating. I went in for just a Brazilian Blowout and walked out after a color, cut, and blowout that left my hair beautiful and amazing. I can't be happier with my experience. I love that my hair can now look great with very little maintenance. I must apologize for the stupid moment I had when figuring the tip -- stupid me only tipped based on the amount of the remaining balance, not the full amount that included what I had already paid for the Yelp deal. So sorry! I swear I'll catch you next time, Jeremy. Overall, a great experience. Mahalo again! read more

Cannot say enough kind things about the people who used to work here, but the owner is an absolute jerk who knows nothing about treating customers with care and kindness. We were long time customers and bought certificates for future hair care at a great discount. However all the beauticians quit and he was the only one left in the salon. We knew he was refunding people who went into the salon and asked for money back. We tried to get $35 back in unrecovered services since we followed our beautician to her new location. The owner's attitude has been totally deplorable and has had us come back 2 weeks in a row stating he hasn't had the time to get our cash ready for us. Once again today we got the same response - come back next Friday, I'm too busy (he was sitting in the front window lookiing out at the world with no customers in sight!)!! When I asked him to mail our money to us he said he had decided not to give it back to us after all. He was just plain nasty. Worst experience EVER on Maui. read more
