Fried Rice

I am really bummed and disappointed in the food served at this restaurant. Looking at the menu and photos online prior to coming here, I already had a hunch it wasn't going to be good. The photos were underwhelming and sadly, it wasn't just the photos. The taste looks exactly like how it looks. Bland. Service was good. They were nice and made sure to refill our water cups. The inside is okay, nothing special. It doesn't feel homey or nice inside. It needs decoration and warmth to this place. We got: Fried Rice: the kids ate it and enjoyed it so that's a win Three Cup Special: the only dish I really ate as it has flavor but it's deep fried which is weird and not authentic Salted Duck: the most disappointing dish. It was so bland that I had to ask for soy sauce and chili oil Braised Pork Belly: this was tender and good but not as tasty as how my husband makes it so perhaps I'm biased Pea Sprouts: I took one bite and didn't reach for it again Egg Drop Soup: bland. Can't even white pepper can help it We won't be back unfortunately.

Finally found a really good Taiwanese restaurant. I've heard the service can be hit or miss, but honestly my experience was great. This was my first time here and the food was amazing and tasted very authentic. The staff were super nice and friendly, which made it even better. This is definitely going to be my go-to spot for Taiwanese food. My favorite dish was the braised beef noodle soup; so good and really comforting. If you're not super into Taiwanese food but you're dining with someone who is, they also have a section of Americanized Chinese dishes, which is nice for picky eaters. Prices are pretty average, the vibe is casual and welcoming, and I'd 100% come back.

Boneless Chili Diced Chicken

Overall the food was alright. The green bean chili and the west lake minced beef soup were my favorites from the dishes that we tried tonight. The green beans with chili were flavorful and not too oily. The west lake minced beef soup was big and shareable. It was a great way to start off the meal. The boneless diced chili chicken was way too fried and hard. It was nice that it was better pieces of chicken. The crispy noodle had great presentation, but needed more sauce. The Taiwan beef noodle soup was very spicy. It did come in a big bowl so very shareable. Service was good. The restaurant is small, but a good amount of seating available.

Food here was okay. The west lake minced beef soup was my favorite from all the items we ordered. The green beans were good and had a kick of spice. Crispy noodles were very crispy, not enough sauce. Boneless chili chicken was too fried. The Taiwan beef soup was my least favorite. I did not like the taste and it was way too spicy. The aftertaste was not pleasing. Would not recommend this. Service was good. Small restaurant, probably harder to accommodate larger groups.

I love 81! They used to have their business in Tucson, but moved to Phoenix. It was so good, i had to go when I visited. They have a huge variety of food on their menu, and a lo by specials board. One of my friends is vegan and this is our favorite place to eat together. She loves their tofu and so do I! It's super crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Great flavors all around!

Taiwan diced pork rice

This place was recommended by a friend. We came here for lunch with my family. We ordered the Taiwan diced pork rice, that's like a must have in a Taiwanese restaurant. It was very good. Highly recommend. Then we ordered the BBQ Pork and Egg rice, which was just ok. We ordered the Lemon Pepper Fried Tofu, it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I really liked it. Probably would be even better if they had a sauce to dip in. The string beans were good too. Oh, and the scallion pancake was excellent. We didn't try the Taiwan beef noodle this time, but it is supposed to be a must have. Will definitely try next time.

Exceptional food and service. This is a small, unassuming spot that focuses entirely on the food. The Taiwanese and Chinese dishes are genuinely authentic and well-prepared. Despite the tiny footprint, the service is some of the best I've experienced--very attentive and welcoming. It's a real find for anyone looking for a quality meal without the fluff.

Braised pork belly

We loved everything we ordered at 81 Asian Bistro! We tried the Spicy Duck, which is a rare find, and it was delicious--perfectly prepared with no "meat smell" at all. The Braised Pork Belly was awesome, and the Green Beans with Chilies had the perfect kick. If you're looking for authentic flavors in Chandler, this is the spot!

Dong Po braised pork belly with bok choy

Just checked this spot out for a friend's birthday. We were very happy with the authentic Taiwanese dishes. We also appreciated that we were able to bring our own cake and they kept it in the fridge for us while we ate. Everything came out perfectly cooked and flavorful. It really hit the spot. You do have to self serve for the soda drinks. But, service was good and the food came out pretty quickly. We especially liked the Golden Brick Salted Egg tofu and Dong Po braised pork belly, though each dish was a hit. Fairly small/cozy inside but clean. You pay up tab the front when done. I'm definitely coming back to try more.

Found this place on Facebook as we were so craving for authentic Taiwanese food while we have had enough American-chinese food. The restaurant looks like a small and family-owned restaurant, interior (especially bathroom) is not attractive but food and service were amazing! They do have a big menu and end up we ordered the fried rice with pork chop, bamboo chicken soup and bittermelon with salted egg. Flavorful and the portion is huge, they also gave customers some pieces of pineapple cake as a little desert and treat. Will definitely come back when visiting Phoenix again.

New place, food is pretty good, not too bad, will be back here soon! The menu is extensive and the portion is good too.

My friend and I both ordered mediums with 75% sweetness, and it was the perfect drink for a hot, humid summer morning. Sweet enough to feel like a treat without being over the top. We also ordered matching bagel sandwiches. I do wish they offered a turkey bacon option, but the sandwiches were still hot, fresh, and delicious. The real star was the mayo aioli. I could probably put that on just about anything. The vibes are wonderful too. It's cozy, welcoming, and the kind of coffee shop where you want to linger with a friend for a while. My only critique is the layout of the front room. There always seems to be a line, but there's not really a good place for it to go besides in front of the entrance and the water station. It turns into a lot of "excuse me" and people weaving around each other. It's definitely a good problem to have because they're clearly popular, but I hope as they continue to flourish, they're able to expand into a larger space or rethink the flow a bit. Either way, I'll absolutely be back. Just save me another coconut brown sugar latte.

We ended up getting the raspberry puff pastry, the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake, and the red velvet cupcake. Raspberry Puff Pastry: My husband really enjoyed this one. It was flaky, the perfect size, and lightly sweet without being overly sweet. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake: This was my favorite! The cake had little bits of chocolate chips throughout, which was a fun surprise. The frosting was light, airy, and not overly sweet. The best part? It comes topped with a soft, chewy chocolate chip cookie, so it's basically two desserts in one. Red Velvet Cupcake: This one didn't disappoint either. The cake was moist with a nice cocoa flavor, and the buttercream frosting was rich, creamy, buttery, and exactly what you'd hope for in a classic red velvet cupcake. They also serve drinks and were offering samples of their prickly pear lemonade. It was delicious and super refreshing, but a little sweeter than I personally prefer. If you have a sweet tooth, I think you'll really enjoy it. Overall, it was great and we'd go back to try other things. Give it a try. The staff is also nice and provided good service.

It's clean, cool, and the mural on the wall is awesome! You're greeted with a friendly staff who is informative and helpful when you are indecisive of what to order. The staff provided suggestions on popular orders. They were having $2 selected drinks on the menu that day and so my husband and I ordered the Strawberry Calamansi & Jasmine Calamansi; both were refreshing! I ordered the Ube Monster for my daughter and she loved it! A lot of us of course ordered the Halo Halo as well. If you're going to order the regular size you might want to share it with someone unless you're able to finish the whole drink. I ordered a mini size Halo Halo for myself and that was a lot for me. The ube cupcake with flan was yummy! There's slight saltiness to it but having the sweetness of the flan helped balance the overall taste of the cupcake. Our visit was great overall. Yummy desserts, refreshing drinks, and amazing ambience! Stop by and check em out when you can!

Most recently we got the Upside Down halo halo and the Ube Leche Flan cupcakes. I loved the Halo Halo and the smaller size is very filling for one person. Definitely shareable. The ice cream is so good and I the Frosted Flakes add a great texture. Halo Halo means mix mix so don't forget to mix it all together before eating! The cupcake was pretty good but I felt the leche flan was a bit dry. It's great to try once but nothing too special and we will probably order other items next time to try everything. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing and the employee did seem like she was ready to go home but wasn't rude or anything. We thought we would be the last customers but several parties came in after us. They did end up turning customers away even though it was still 5 minutes before closing which was a bit off putting. I understand you want to go home early but if you're open until a certain time you should accept customers until then. Especially if you close at 8 pm daily, which isn't late at all. They have board games and it seems like a cool place to hang out and enjoy your dessert. Definitely recommend this place but try coming earlier when they have all the pastries to choose from and you don't feel rushed.
