I really like the pastries from 85. Unusual flavors, ingredients, etc. I especially enjoy coconut, red bean, etc. But sometimes there's not much selection. The other day I went at lunch, which is usually a good time to go for a big selection. But this time they were so understaffed, that there wasn't much to choose from. Luckily there were a couple of my favorites available. I hardly ever order desserts or drinks. If I get a drink, it's a tea. But the one time I ordered a dessert, it was a little underwhelming. After eating Chef Jun(highly recommend) we decided to get something to drink and ordered a mango peach bubbly and a yuzu lavender bubbly. Wife was a little disappointed that they didn't have any egg tarts, but they was closing soon and only had two people working so she was understanding. My wife loved her drink choice and I loved mine! The bubbly is similar to a soda, but the mango peach had little pieces of mango at the bottom. I hope it's healthier than drinking a soda. I just watched a Tik Tok of a cardiologist saying soda is one of the leading causes of heart attacks. That spooked me a bit because I LOVE soda. It is one of the joys of my day having a soda. I visit this location quite often, and today's customer service experience was disappointing. The guy that was working the drink station was disgustingly rude. As I stood there waiting on the cashier to correct the order that she incorrectly inputed, he proceeded to unprofessionally talk about my guest and I, as if we were the ones who was wrong. He spoke unjustly of us as if we couldn't hear him. This experience alone trumps the want to return for their well known pastries. I often come to this 85 location to get my Sea Salt Jasmine green tea drink. It's a hit or miss depending on who's making the drink. Not the cleanest location I've been to either. But that's not the problem with my visit today. Why advertise on the app as well as your TVs about a promo if you guys are not going to honor it? "Free cookie with purchase of ANY sea salt drink." When I ordered my drink and scanned the app, I asked about the promo and the cashier said only included for sea salt coffee. That's not what the app or tv in their store said, and I even showed her the promo details that's listed. She goes and asks someone in the kitchen and comes out with the same response, refusing to honor the promo even with three giant trays of cookies behind the register. I wasn't going to make a scene at 9am over a cookie, and to a cashier who's only following orders. But whoever is managing this place needs to read up better on details of their promotions and inform their team better. One of my favorite bakeries with a great variety of Asian pastries and cakes! They sometimes are low in stock in the afternoon so make sure to go early. My favorite is the pineapple bolo bread and the cream filled buns are usually good, not too sweet, and are full with filling. The cinnamon twist and guava strudel are really good too. Their drinks are pretty good as well with my favorite being the strawberry mango smoothie which was perfectly sweet, creamy and refreshing! They have a lot of variety, I think most everyone will find something they like. Some of my favorite breads are the Brioche, Chocolate Croissant, Marble Taro Bread, Taiwanese Boroh Danish, and Guava Cheese Strudel. Everything tastes nice and fresh. As far as coffee, I like their Sea Salt Caramel Ice Coffee. The milk tea with boba is okay, but I prefer Bei Yuan or other places for tea. The cakes are good. They have so many different kinds. I like the Mango Creme Brulee and Black Forrest cakes. You can order a whole cake or by slice. They have indoor and outdoor seating here. Some of their seating is in need of replacing, but that can be expected after being open for over 8 years. This place is usually clean. Parking is not a problem here. Service is usually good, the employees are usually friendly. I can't ever remember having a bad experience here. They also have a self serve kiosk for drinks, which is convenient. I made a quick stop in here specifically for the moon cakes! Thanks to fellow Elite Sung for posting about them, lol. The buy 3 get 1 free promo is going on until 9.12.2024, so get 'em while you can! I called ahead to be sure they had what I wanted, and they did. Woohoo! I pulled into the wide open parking lot about a half hour before they closed, and they still had a good amount of all varieties out. I grabbed my 4 among other goodies and made my way to check out. I got 3 of the Hokkaido Milk Mochi and 1 of the Pineapple Yolk. I bit into the pineapple one and was disturbed by the orange thing inside, which was actually a yolk?! I was not a fan of that one! It just did NOT mesh well with the sweet pineapple filling. I knew there was a chance I wouldn't like it, so I'm glad I only got one. The Hokkaido Milk Mochi, now THAT was my jam!! I was a tad too eager beaver when I bit into it, and the big ole mochi inside ended up in my mouth, like at once. I didn't mean for that to happen, but it was too late to put it back. I definitely liked this one!! I'll be grabbing more before the promo ends! I also got the Mango Green Tea because I love mango, but didn't want the one that had coconut in it. I liked this drink! The service was quick but only because I was the only one paying. The girl with the hat and hoodie on was talking to her co-worker about her personal dating issues, which I didn't care to hear. It's unprofessional if you ask me, especially if you're talking very loudly, which she was. She also didn't ask if I wanted a box or bag for my purchase. Every other location asks me, and I prefer the box so the bread doesn't get smashed in a bag. If you're ever in the area in the morning...please consider stopping here to grab a pastry (or three) and an iced coffee (big drink menu). They have a nice array of pastries and only a few of them were fully empty. If it's empty, you could ask them if they are making more in the back and how long it would take. Sometimes the only difference could be minutes from when you walk in! If they don't have it until a while-- try something new. My cousin raves about the savory pastries and while I enjoy sweet ones in the morning...sometimes trying new things will surprise you! It was clean, not super busy, and bright inside. They were missing the tongs, but everything is packaged in bags already so I think it's ok. We had clean and dry trays which was nice. My mom got the coconut twist with silvered almonds which was baked to golden perfection with a beautiful glaze on top. My premium milk bun was big, fluffy, and topped with an abundance of powdered sugar. The inside was filled with white chocolate that wasn't too sweet. This bun would taste delicious with (salted cream) coffee! The only thing is that the bag they packaged it in-- possibly had tiny holes but I'm not sure why this bag was chosen because it got the powdered sugar everywhere on me. read more

I was looking for a dessert /coffee shop and found this place! OMG!! I was like a kid in a candy shop! lol I ordered an Iced Jasmine tea with salt foam and my husband ordered a hot Oolong tea. I enjoyed my drink until it was just the foam. Maybe next time I'll order without the foam. I also purchased a mango custard. It was pleasing to the eyes, such a beautiful dessert and yummy! Who doesn't like fresh baked goods? Anyway came here very late. And when you're here late most of the good stuff will be gone. It's been awhile since I've stepped foot here but I noticed they've kind of expanded their drink menu which is nice. I decided to just look around and wasn't thinking of buying anything. But I ended up buying the chocolate chip bread and then saw this pork floss bread. Seemed interesting to try. And I didn't know if I was going to like it. The bread was nice fluffy and the whipped cream wasn't something I thought would work well but the pork floss was nice and fine that it just gives the bread some saltiness. All combined flavors was like a sweet and savory bread. It was quite filling to since the bread was kind of dense but again still fluffy. Reminds me of the Filipino mammon snack. read more

I did like that they had a kiosk so you could express order your drink. It turned out not to be very fast, but in theory, it's a great idea. The drink was ok; not something I would order again. Service was ok: no complaints but nothing outstanding. Points for ambiance: it's quiet enough to work or catch up with friends, and clean. I arrived around 11am on a mission to get a slice of the Coffee Creme Brulee cake or an entire 8″ if they did not have a slice. 2nd item I was on a mission to try was the Coffee Cruffin which is a bread baked like a croissant in a muffin shape with macchiato cream filling. As I went inside, I first headed towards the baked breads section to the right. There was not many varieties as I remember 85C Bakery to have. Its about 11am, so are they late on baking or did they cut down varieties at this location? It did not bother me at all because I was there for 2 specific items. Since I did not see any Coffee Cruffins, I headed for the glass display of cakes. I did not see the Coffee Creme Brulee cake in either a slice or entire 8". I asked the young service lady and she said they did not make the Coffee Creme Brulee cake today. They are focused on making more of the seasonal strawberry with chocolate mouse cake. It was beautiful! I stared at the 8" light pink exterior covered delicately with tiny coconut sprinkles. It was a work of art! If you like pink, if your favorite color is pink, then this is definitely for you! For me, I decided to order just a slice to try first. Then I asked if they had the Coffee Cruffin and the young gentleman went in back and asked the bakers and came back stating they are almost ready, just 5 more minutes. He asked me how many I wanted. I said 2. Then a short 3 minutes later, another young gentleman came out and had 2 in his hand. He said, these are what you were waiting for? I said yes. I was so grateful. They hadn't even brought out the entire tray for any customer. Just the 2 for me. So thoughtful and generous. Unfortunately I did not get to try the Coffee Creme Brulee cake, but the Strawberry Chocolate mouse is worth a try. They said its only available for a limited time. I did not see this one on their website. They told me this strawberry chocolate mouse cake is only available until May. 5/5 Strawberry Chocolate Mousse cake: chocolate cake portion had consistency slightly more dense than their tiramisu, meaning this is not chiffon style. Also overall tastes sweeter than their tiramisu. The chocolate mousse is excellent, using dark chocolate with a hint of bitter. Goes great with the tiny coconut shavings on the top and side. The strawberry flavored pink cream/frosting is slightly too sweet for me to want 2 slices in 1 sitting. 5/5 Presentation design: beautiful shade of pink with real strawberry as decoration. Whether you buy the 8" or just a slice, they place it in a cute box container with a handle for easy carry. (See photos). I recommend this in an 8" cake for special occasions. It presents well and is definitely worth $37. 5/5 Coffee Cruffin: If you closed your eyes and took a bite, you can taste the buttery goodness of a croissant. Your tongue tells you it is a croissant. You tear it apart in the middle and the consistency is like a croissant. Generous amount of macchiato cream filling oozes out when you bite into it or try to tear it in half. It is sweet tasting macchiato cream, just enough filling to compliment the entire cruffin. Any more filling would be too much. 5/5 Presentation design: cute muffin shaped pastry wrapped in waxed paper around the circumference and on bottom. Packaged in a clear plastic wrap. 5/5 Customer service: Experienced excellent customer service with prompt response time and friendly attitude.
