I've always come to this spot whenever I'm craving egg tarts. Hands down, they have some of the best egg tarts in San Diego. Kristen the employee who always greeted and helped me out recommended a bunch of options and my absolute favorite is the Crème Brulee Egg Tart. Every time I visit, I make sure to get one fresh out of the oven. It's incredibly creamy, melts in your mouth, and has the perfect level of sweetness without being overly sweet. My second favorite is the Chocolate Boba Egg Tart. The chocolate and boba complement the egg tart really well. The crunchy little boba balls aren't too sticky, and the sweetness is nicely balanced. The Espresso Egg Tart comes in third. It has a smooth, mellow coffee flavor that's not overpowering and pairs well with the creamy custard. As for the Dubai Chocolate Egg Tart, it's very crunchy and not overly sweet. However, the chocolate layers were so chunky that I couldn't really taste much of the egg tart itself. The Ube Cheese Egg Tart was creamy, soft, and gooey with a strong ube (sweet potato-like) flavor. While it was enjoyable, I couldn't really taste much of the cheese. Overall, this is my go-to place for egg tarts, especially when they're fresh from the oven. It's mostly a pick-up and go location but the service is fast. If you love egg tarts, this place is a must-try. I spent about $90 here to sample literally every flavor on the menu, and I wasn't disappointed by a single one. They have a fantastic selection, but out of all of them, the durian egg tart was my absolute favorite. My only concern about this place is that its extremely overpriced for 1 egg tart at 5$. With that being said, these are the best tarts I've had in southern California. Today I had the egg tart affogato minus the affogato. Lol. Im allergic to coffee so I had them replace it with milk. The workers are so nice and very accommodating. Its tiny in here but they look like they're doing very well. It seems most of their pastries were sold out when I went. Na Tart does make tasty tarts, though they come at a steep price. I visited close to closing, so there were not many flavors left. Even so, I was impressed by the variety of fillings compared to more traditional styles. There were also combo options advertised on the menu board that paired tarts with drinks. I chose the two tart and drink combo, opting for crème brûlée tarts and a strawberry matcha. The crème brûlée tarts were filled generously with rich custard and had a light torched sugar layer on top. The crust was excellent and easily one of my favorite executions of an egg tart. It stayed flaky even after I waited to eat them at home. The strawberry matcha, however, was one of the worst I have had. I watched it being made, and it was almost entirely milk with only a small amount of matcha added. It ended up tasting like plain milk with a faint hint of matcha. While I was waiting, another customer even returned a taro drink for being poorly made. I would stick to the tarts, though they are definitely a splurge. Tried Natart recently and it was a fun experience, especially if you like trying different flavors. They have a really wide variety ube, espresso, durian, brulee, and a lot more so there's something for everyone depending on your taste. We ordered the 4-piece blind box (you have to get that online) for $9.99, which was actually pretty exciting since you don't know what you're going to get. We also got the 6-piece classic egg tart set for $20. Personally, I like the classic egg tart better, it's simple not overly sweet. We also tried the tiramisu latte. It was good, but a bit on the sweeter side for me, so I probably wouldn't get that every time. Downside is the price it's a little expensive for what it is. Na tart was on a list of "go to" spots when my husband and I visit the SD area from LA. The first time we had the egg tarts here we were mind blown by the varieties and the flavor and quality of each egg tart had us excited to be back in the future. We finally got the chance to revisit this past April. But after trying the few egg tarts we purchased, something was different. The custard texture was not as silky and felt goopy. The flavor seemed off as all I can taste is a strong egg flavor and not so much a balanced custard flavor. Not sure if it was an off day or something changes since the last tine we were there, but it's sad have to remove this spot from our favorites list since it is also out of the way to detour to Na Tart on our way back home. Omg! What was there not to love about my boxes of goodies from Na Tart?! I decided to try them out on a whim when driving home from San Diego recently. BEST DETOUR EVER MADE! Placed the order via Toast app and everything was boxed perfectly upon my arrival. The store has cozy lighting on and nothing sterile and optic white like some bakery shops. There's nowhere to sit down and eat inside, so it's really a pick up and go type of place. No bathroom to wash your hands or anything either. I can imagine crowd and queue management being difficult if there's more than 1 person in the store. I am glad I decided to order it as to-go ahead of time. The location has tricky parking arrangements. Many of the storefront spaces are dedicated to specific shops only, which makes sense. But during rainy weather or peak hours, it really sucks! I had to essentially park on the other side of the building/ parking lot altogether only to discover closer spot become available as I was walking towards the bakery. So frustrating! At least the parking is free and it's more too difficult to get in and out of the car park. The actual egg tarts and savory tarts were to die for. Nothing was too sweet and my favorite one was actually the chocolate ones. I loved the crispy chocolate toppings that nicely contrasted the perfectly filling and buttery tart shells. For opening weekend and third day (went in a Sunday afternoon) they were low. Although these tarts and sunflowers are delicious and some unique flavors for an egg tart, the price point is way too high! Walked inside and was greeted by a friendly employee. Not all the tarts were in the cases, but they were all available. I purchased almost all of the different types. The first tart I tried was the Taro Mochi Egg Tart. The Taro topping itself was good and not too sweet. The tart was overloaded w mochi and very little egg. It was out of balance with the mochi overpower the flavor. Next was the Matcha Brulee Tart. This was easily one of the best of the tarts I purchased. Could actually Taste the Matcha and it had creamy egg filling at the bottom with a flaky crust!! Very good Matcha dessert. The Creme Brulee Egg tart was also very good. Bruleed sugar on top and a creamy egg filling. Some of the others were a Chocolate Boba Tart, Ube topped egg tart and a plain egg tart.
