I've been to this 85° a handful of times but this particular day I guess the high school just got out and as we walked in, we had about three minutes before we were bombarded with a bunch of highschoolers with their backpacks and pushing and talking so loud you couldn't even hear yourself think! Lol I quickly got in line as my husband picked out a couple other pastries, and handed them off to me. No joke the kids were all over the place and very much like highschoolers, in their own world. Lol it was around 2:30 on a Monday or Tuesday. We were there, so I won't make that mistake again. The cashiers were very helpful behind the counter and patient since the teenagers didn't seem to know what they wanted to order and would take the wrong drinks. Lol I guess that's what you get when you go to a shop nearby a high school with open campus. Lol. The pastries were delicious and we truly enjoyed our snack and he got his milk tea without Boba. Experienced really poor customer service today :-( usually it's awesome/no issues. New hire, blonde hair younger guy, on register rushed us/ mocked me for asking questions about drinks. Asked if there were herbal tea/non caffeine options and he rudely said "it's tea....so no." We were rushed so quickly on our orders that we forgot to adjust the sweetness on our drink! I told one of the people on bar and they informed a short blonde girl and she audibly groaned and looked at us. Mind you we were three feet away just at the drink pick up spot I guess she already started the drink and she just poured the same drink into a different cup with the same ingredients inside. We had to return it as 100% sweetness is too sweet for us. I also didn't trust her to make my drink anymore I understand food service jobs are tough and customers are mean and evil (I've had plenty of food service jobs myself) but this was wild I'm only writing this complaint because this was really unprofessional behavior and I hope that they don't continue groaning when they have to remake a drink in the future. I would advise people to check out other 85 locations in the meantime. read more

My gripe with 85 Degrees is the same issue I have with other chain Asian bakeries. I hate that they don't have their entire selection ready in the morning. I arrived more than an hour after opening and none of what I wanted to pick up was available. I asked one of the girls working if they were still putting things out for the morning and she explained that they continually bake and put things out throughout the day. Y'all, I'm not trying to pick up breakfast pastries at noon. I wish there were more classic bakeries in the area where you can arrive when the doors open and find the shop ready to go and filled with goodies. I did grab some egg tarts just so I wouldn't leave empty handed. Maybe if you plan on going late in the day, you won't encounter my problem. read more

We stopped by today since we were at Main Street Cupertino. They were fully stocked with a variety of pastries. We purchase the berrytale cake, coconut custard sponge roll and walnut cinnamon roll. I also ordered a red grapefruit green tea, which was ice cold and delicious. The line to check out was not too bad and moved quickly. My drink was ready in a few minutes. We really loved their pastries and grapefruit green tea. Prices are very reasonable and everything is clean and organized inside. They also have excellent customer service. read more

I was visiting a friend at the nearby hospital and didn't want to come empty handed. I remembered this bakery was in the vicinity of the hospital and it was perfect; just what I needed. The bakery has a variety of delicious baked goods to select from, just the right portion size, and individually wrapped. The baked goods were exactly what I needed to be able to share with my friend, but also with her visitors. As we all know, Hospital food isn't very delicious - this little treat was satisfying. My family loves 85° bakery... We always stop at the one in Santa Clarita when visiting family. Since I was in Cupertino and came across this one, of course I had to grab some for my parents. They didn't have some of the options that I would normally grab for them but I was still able to get some good choices. It was a cold day out but man, not cold enough for how much they had the heat blasting in there... it was very warm. Idk if that had anything to do with how sluggish the staff was? but, man, they had one guy working the register for a long minute and he was a slow one... the line got way longer than it should have had he been a bit quicker or working with haste (seems to be the norm with "kids" working these days). It wasn't until I finally got to the front of the line that another girl finally came and opened up a second register. Oh, also-- there were a lot of people waiting for drink orders as well... even if I wanted to order a drink, I definitely wouldn't have after seeing that and knowing how slowly they were working behind the counter. Like Philz-- same area, same nice ambience. Staff was meh, bakery items were good, did it's job (didn't snap a photo of my picks). I do wish they didn't use mayonnaise for the savory items although a lot of people do like that. Not the super highest quality ingredients but still standard quality and freshly prepared. This location is inside the Main Street development, which I do love walking around in. Prices are accessible and bringing a box of 85 Degree pastries is a welcome sight at gatherings. read more

We stop by this 85 degrees a lot when we are in this plaza (like maybe once a month or so). The entire plaza is very walkable and safe so it's nice to hit up a few shops while you are here. They have a good selection of bread and pastries here. I usually pick up some pineapple buns and occasionally some of the sun cakes. Their buns are not bad. They're not my favorite since I prefer some of the Hong Kong pastries a bit more but still good since I love pineapple buns. They also have milk tea here. I've gotten some drinks here and they are pretty decent. Maybe a tiny bit watery but still palatable. They charge for takeout bags so I'd recommend bringing your own if you don't want to waste like 25 cents for a bag. read more

On my way to work, I stopped by this bakery to purchase a box of egg custard tarts to bring to the office. The tarts were freshly baked, and you could still see the condensation from the steam on the upper lid of the box. Overall, the coworkers seemed to thoroughly enjoy the tarts. There were a few comments though, like the crust was a bit too flaky, and the tart itself was over-baked, resulting in a dry texture to the custard. Aside from those factors, the tart was not overly sweet and paired well with a cup of coffee. The lines here are always long, and they would benefit from having more employees at the cash registers. This is a fairly good bakery, if you're looking for pastries that are baked fresh, on the same day. read more

Staffs are helpful and friendly if you get a chance to talk to them. I love this location very much as it is convenient. It was clean inside and the store looks great. I still ordered my favorite $4.90 medium iced tiger boba latte from the kiosk. Their huge windows are perfect for looking outside at other shops and restaurants nearby. Good natural lighting. I came by around 10am on a Saturday morning. Parking wasn't too bad and the shop wasn't heavily crowded. Interior is well lit and airy. I was happy to see the bread shelves full since I'd previously come to scarce, empty shelves before. That said, I did notice multiple sections were just repeats of the same bread flavors. I've been hunting for the squid ink cheese buns that used to be $1 but I haven't seen that in a long time. Not sure if they're no longer offered at all? The Hokkaido milk loaf is tasty. What's not to like, fluffy Asian desserts for cheap. The sea salt coffee is really good don't need to add sugar. The best dessert is the taro marble bread loaf but it sells out fast. There's parking in the parking structure across the way. To get a whole cake for your birthday you can order it online ahead of time for pickup. The Ube cake is the best. read more

This location is relatively spacious inside. There is seating outside. I can find parking in the parking lot area on the west side when I go early in the morning. There appears to be a restroom, accessible around the corner, to the left of the register/counter ; I haven't used them so cannot comment on them. I like many of the drinks here and their Matcha Chocolate Bun is my favorite, delicious when warm. However, if you're ordering a cake ... Allow extra time for whole cakes to thaw and time your cake purchase accordingly. I picked up the Matcha Creme Brulee cake at 11am, where it was transported in the car for 40 minutes, and then placed in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving. The center of the cake was still a bit frozen. This would explain what we felt while slicing the cake, it was the icy center. I would recommend picking up a cake in the morning for consumption later in the day or evening. I am extremely disappointed with this location. I bought a cake for Father's Day. The employee messed up when he did the packing. The strawberry was completely knocked off from the cake and the chocolate was also knocked off. He was not honest and simply continued with packing. I regret not watching him when he did the packing. It was extremely disappointing when we opened the cake during celebration. The cake could NOT be used for any picture. I will never return. This is unacceptable. I got the Sea Salt Coffee as a free drink for downloading the 85°C app, and honestly... what a shocking first impression. I usually finish my coffee rather quickly, but this one was so salty that it took me over two and a half hours to drink even half. I even asked for a refill of plain water just to balance it out. It wasn't sweet at all -- just bitter coffee with an overwhelmingly salty foam on top. Perhaps they forgot the syrup? Or maybe that's simply how it's meant to be, but either way, it honestly felt like drinking cold seawater mixed with espresso. I don't have any health issues, but that level of saltiness genuinely made me wonder if it was even safe. That said, the pumpkin bread was absolutely delicious -- soft, moist, and perfectly spiced. The filling inside was lovely as well. I'd definitely return for the bakery items, but next time I'll give the Sea Salt Coffee a miss. The café itself has a nice, lively atmosphere, though the seating layout could use some improvement. Most tables are large family-sized ones, which are really important for groups and families (and I love that they have those!). But at the same time, there are very few smaller tables for one or two people. When I visited, one person was sitting at a big table with a laptop for about two hours, and during that time, several people came in and waited for seats. Sometimes my friend and I just want to sit, chat, and enjoy some bread and coffee, but it feels a bit awkward to occupy a four-person table for too long. Also, many seats get direct sunlight, and shifting the chairs around isn't exactly easy. I completely understand the need for family tables -- they're absolutely essential -- but it would be brilliant if they could add a few more two-person spots. There is also a buy one drink get the other 50% off via the app right now, which I recommend the Jasmine tea since it's refreshing here. The ham and cheese was amazing as usual! If you have a microwave, microwaving it at 20-40 seconds will definitely elevate the bread as it would help bring the brown sugar into the cheese and make the bread more airy.
