I stopped by here with some friends after noticing that this matcha place had opened. The matcha ice cream was actually pretty good, but the service was absolutely terrible. The staff seemed bothered when we asked questions, did not really answer us, and one of them even rolled her eyes, which made us feel really uncomfortable. What concerned me the most was that I saw one of the girls drop a spoon on the floor, pick it up without washing it, and continue using it for the next customer. That is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable, especially for a food business. This is a causal spot with not much seating, but great for ice cream and drinks! The service here is fast and the parking is there but the plaza is quite crowded. They were all so creamy and yummy, but I finally settled on the yuzu and shiso and white champaca. Two flavors come in a "single". The champaca gelato had little crunchy bits of cookie, which were quite delicious too. I love anything yuzu and shiso and this gelato did not disappoint: seemed more like a sorbet than a gelato though. We also got an iced white champaca. The white champaca was refreshing with a slight floral note. The drink definitely creeps up on you with its floral-ness as you continue to sip. For people who have a more Western palate, this is a good choice. For people who don't like things too sweet, their Matcha Black Sesame is still my recommendation. I wrote a review before complaining about the location where the order kiosks were placed and they listened! This time the kiosks were placed in a better place. Bravo! I encountered a different problem this time, out of their control, the ordering SW seemed to have problems processing the orders and it took a long time for the issue to be reported. While the customers were fuzzing at the kiosk, there was only one staff working at the gelato counter, making it hard to get the staff attention and reporting the issue. Once it was reported, a lady came out and worked diligently on it and at some point even had to take orders by hand and paper, but they couldn't take your phone number to honor the points, which I think should be able to do at the backend when the SW was fixed. Luckily it didn't take too long for the issue to be resolved. I still don't like how the points can only redeem the toys but not gelato. Omg it's so good!! I was really surprised!! Lived up to the hype. I got the salted cheese matcha float (level 2 matcha). It's high quality you can taste. I am definitely coming back. I ordered their Salted Cheese Jasmine Matcha drink on their self-service kiosk, and it came out within several minutes. Finally went back on an early Friday afternoon and didn't see a line, so it was my chance to get my after lunch pick me up. The shop is nice and bright, felt clean and orderly. There isn't much seating, only behind the pick up line and it looked a bit crowded. I ordered on the kiosks by the door and decided to go with gelato instead of drinks. Once you pay, you move down the line and someone will help you with your order. I sampled the matcha #4 and hojicha flavors and was impressed with both. Usually I find hojicha is either too sweet or not strong enough, but theirs was pretty authentic. I did end up going with the matcha option with a fresh waffle cone and enjoyed every last bite. Heads up, the inside is very limited in seating and packed, so this isn't necessarily the place to go when you want to sit down and hang out with friends. When our order was ready, we walked deep inside to pick up our drinks and walked out to try them out. My thoughts: * The Jasmine Matcha: I am unsure if it is perhaps my judgment in ordering the drink at 30% that it affect the overall flavor profile. I could not taste the Jasmine flavor, and when mixed with the matcha, it was a bit watered down. * The Guava Matcha: On the flip side, my partner got the Guava Matcha, and the flavor was strong. The guava was sweet, but mixed with the matcha top, it mellowed out, creating a constant, balanced drink. One of the unique aspects of this location is that you can try ice cream and gelato with different levels of matcha in them, so they had Matcha no. 2-5. My friend said no. 5 is too bitter. I came around 8:45pm and it was still busy -- a handful of people in and out, mostly chilling with gelato, which makes sense because the gelato is genuinely good and was the best part of my visit. The drinks though... not it. I ordered the Salted Cheese White Champaca Matcha and it honestly tasted like straight milk. No floral note from the champaca, and the "salted cheese" foam didn't taste like salted cheese at all -- just plain heavy-cream cold foam, no saltiness, no tang, no contrast. The matcha got totally drowned out and the whole drink was just way too milky. Aesthetics are a win: I love the decor, the cup is adorable, and the insulated bag option is such a thoughtful touch (it reminded me of Molly Tea).
