I grabbed some matcha from Matsu after finding this spot on Yelp. I feel like there's been a surge of matcha spots open in Silicon Valley and I was excited to see that there was a spot that served more than just matcha lattes. There was a bit of a line when I came but it moved quickly. I got the matcha float, which has a scoop of their matcha gelato (?). They also had a 10% discount on the gelato for the last hour before closing. There is only one kiosk to order off of, so it took us around 15 minutes to get inside and place our orders. The seating was full, but we were able to snatch a table when someone was leaving. The menu was quite large, so it was hard to even pick what to get! There's ice cream, drinks, and parfaits that all looked tempting. We ended up getting the peach rice mochi yogurt, extra strong matcha latte, and uji matcha #3 / ultra rich matcha #5 gelato scoops. The peach rice mochi yogurt tastes exactly like Yoplait peach yogurt (almost wondering if that's what they used LOL), but the mochi inside was suuuper satisfying - added great chew and texture to the drink. But would probably just make at home myself next time with Yoplait. The extra strong matcha latte was indeed very strong, and they for sure didn't skimp out on the matcha. Very rich, and a mix of earthiness and sweetness. The gelato was very flavorful as well, with a clear difference in strength between the #3 and #5. After ordering on the tablet, I find that our drinks come out reasonably quickly. The highlights here are the matcha drinks and the various ice creams that they sell. Most of their menu comprises of variants of the two (with some additional drinks, desserts, and matcha powders as well). The main draw for me is the matcha, which is the central flavor and theme. I really love the massive variety of matcha drinks they offer; there are different creams, milks, purees, and matcha concentrations to suit a wide variety of palates. Their ice cream is also top-tier--the black sesame and osmanthus rice flavors are my personal favorite. Plus, if you come in just before closing, you get a small discount! The main issue I have with this spot is the pricing. Their drinks can rocket into the $8-$9 range (before tax and tip!), which can leave your bill at nearly $10 a drink! Though their matcha is good, it is hard to justify such a price when there are a litany of other matcha places that offer lower prices without a noticeable difference in quality. There is no WiFi access, and the bathroom is often out of order, which makes sitting down to study or relax a little bit harder. That said, I still won't count this spot out. I was debating if I should get a gelato like last time but I saw the Ube matcha latte so I made up my mind and chose that drink instead. I'm happy that I did 0% sugar as I can taste the matcha more. However, I feel like the Ube flavor can be improved on as its taste is hiding under the matcha flavor. Parking is only super difficult if the plaza is busy (which is usually during peak times) There wasn't a line out the door this time when i visited. You can order on their 2 kiosks or on the Snackpass app. It is cheaper to order in store for pickup. There's multiple types of gelato to choose from and latte drinks. There are a few levels of matcha concentration for gelato. Seasonal flavors are also offered. Green grape matcha gelato has a strong mascara taste that lingers even through the other flavors. Hokkaido milk tasted more like cheese but it might have been due to bring next to the cheesecake flavor. Hojicha was strong in the hojicha taste. All were creamy textured. The hojicha latte was more on the milkier side, but was prominent enough for hojicha taste. You can only adjust the sugar levels (0%-100%). Ice can't be adjusted and about half the cup was ice. Service was quick and friendly. They fulfilled orders fast with very little wait time. There's no working restroom at this time. Phone reception was spotty within the store as well. COME HERE FOR THE GELATO! The gelato here is delicious and it's a perfect spot to have a sweet treat after dinner. We visited for a Saturday lunch a few weeks back and it was BUSY. Luckily the line moved quickly - they have two kiosks for ordering. They don't have the largest space; only a few tables are available and it can take a while for the takes to turnover. We ended up getting lucky and snagged one for 4 after our drinks came. First: the gelato! I ended up getting the Hojicha, Matcha, and Hokkaido. You can definitely tell they use high-grade matcha here; it was earthy and smooth without that harsh bitterness. I didn't think the extra surcharge for the premium "levels" was necessary, so I just went with the highest tier before the upcharge. The hojicha was also a standout (toasty + nutty!) and the hokkaido was incredibly rich and creamy. I'd go for all of these flavors again! On the other hand... I'd probably skip the drinks next time. One of my friends got the banana pudding creme brûlée with the biscoff on top and all of us agreed that the drink was not good at all. The creme brûlée on top ended up being burnt, which tainted the drink with a strong bitter flavor... so much so that we ended up taking it back. They were nice enough to offer a different drink to replace it, which we appreciated, but the drinks just didn't hit like the gelato did. read more

The plaza parking lot was super busy and the only spot we could find was the 15 minute parking. There are two kiosks to order. Even if the line is out the door, it moves quickly. We decided to sample some of the ice cream flavors in addition to getting a matcha. We went with the regular uji matcha, hojicha, and black sesame ice cream flavors. We also got the guava matcha latte because I thought it was something more on the unique side. Not sure if the wait was on the long side or the short side since we stepped outside to find a restroom and that mission itself took a fair bit of time, but when we got back our order was ready. I have since learned that guava matcha is a rather common offering at matcha specialty spots. I did find the matcha quality here to be superb, and I would recommend both the guava matcha drink and any of the ice cream flavors that got to a friend.
