On the street meter parking or parking in a paid lot. Restaurant is super easy to find. Seating is a bit limited but definitely worth the wait. The restaurant is clean and bathrooms were very clean as well. Everyone was super satisfied with their food. The lunch box was a great price and gave you a taste of many things. Meats were juicy and super tasty. The wings were a MUST! Super crunchy, full of flavor, just writing the review makes my mouth water. The truffle fries were also a must! First time coming back to IX II IX since the remodel. The big bar is gone but that means a lot more seating. USC is on spring break so it was not busy. Our server was top-notch from start to finish. He recommended the creamy curry udon with pork and that was fantastic. It's a rich dish and after an excellent mandoo starter, I was fine eating half the udon and took the rest home for lunch. (It was even better the next day.) All the food came out really fast, so if you don't like that, ask them to slow walk it. They have a lovely creative cocktail menu and a couple of nice desserts. We enjoyed an IPA and they had a good assortment of crafts, albeit all in cans. I'm going to go back for the short ribs soon. And while I'm not generally a wing guy, the Korean wings looked mighty tasty. You can't go wrong here. read more

929 Is a very tasty Korean restaurant! I ordered the Osam and Galbijim which were excellent. Online it lists the restaurant as an Asian/Korean fusion restaurant which I am usually hesitant about, but 929 reminded me more of LA Korean food. There was a short wait for us to get a table ~15 minutes but it was well worth the wait and the overall dinner service was pretty quick. It seemed like the food was done almost as soon as we finished placing our order, and came out very hot. The ambiance was a little bit loud, and very busy at the time that we visited but it was not something that took away from our experience. read more

In town for the Masters and decided to stay a little farther away from Augusta to save some money....We landed in Columbia, SC! Glad we did! 929 Kitchen and Bar was delish! From the moment we walked in we knew we were in for a treat! It smelled amazing! It was a Sunday evening and we were prepared to wait a little bit but only had to wait a couple minutes for them to clear a table for us! We ordered drinks to start; two Sapporos, another beer, and Mood Swing! my drink was brought to the table a purple color and when you add the lemon liquor it turns a pink color. It was very neat, perfect name.... MOOD SWING! We ordered the Kimchi Bulgogi Nachos and the Seaweed Salad! Both were very good! For dinner the table ordered the Beef Bulgogi Stir Fry, Spicy Bulgogi Stir, Bulgogi Wok Fried Yaki Udon, and Spicy Squid and Pork Belly Stir Fry! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal! Very cool ambience. Trendy but very comfortable. Service was outstanding. The food was well prepared and probably the best Bibimba with Beef Bulgogi i've ever had. I particularly liked the hot stone bowl with sizzling rice on the bottom. Great twist on an old classic. For me the menu was a bit hard to get through and confusing.. I guess I am more used to traditional Korean restaurants. But this restaurant is still a very solid 4.3 in my book. I look forward to trying it again in the future. read more

This is NOT like any Korean food I've ever had. All of the rice and noodle bowls were incredibly dry so better save your Japanese miso they give you in the beginning to add into it. The waitress said there's no sauce add ons, no kimchi sides, no sides at all besides white rice. Was one of the most unprepared servers I've ever encountered. Genuinely I don't understand how this place parades itself around as Korean with the dry undercooked Japchae I was served and the lack of radish and Napa cabbage in the kimchi fried rice. I was with my friends in a party of 4. Notably the tables are incredibly close together making it not a plus size friendly environment if that were to apply to you. (I think anyone over 200 pounds would struggle to get their chair pulled out far enough to sit at table.) I would not recommend this business. The ambiance is nonexistent. You're better off going to get takeout from your local oriental restaurant or a market and trying to recreate Korean dishes on your own. read more

I tried out 929 kitchen when I was in town visiting my sister I was a bit apprehensive about ordering because I just wasn't really sure just from seeing things on the menu, but I'm glad I gave this restaurant a try because I really really enjoyed it. The service was great. The young lady who helped us out. I can't remember her name, but she was super helpful and answering questions and letting us know what she liked what she didn't like and also making suggestions. The restaurant is located right on Gervais Street, which is a very popular street in the Columbia area and in close proximity to other main areas like the University of South Carolina campus the conference center, and the Vista. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty small and quaint, dim lighting, cozy enough for a small family dinner or even a date night. They have a nice variety of Asian fusion menu options from udon noodles to Korean fried chicken wings to wontons and even spring rolls; our table got the udon noodles a beef dish. I don't remember the name of it, but it was really good and then we also got some appetizers as well overall, I really really enjoyed my meal here. I am looking back to come visit. read more

929 is a reliable choice for bi bim bop, japchae, stir fry both rice and noodles. Korean barbecue is also on the menu, but I never order it. They have a decent lunch special, and it's a good place to meet for a business lunch. It's very much fusion, adapted to an American palate. (They do not automatically supply banchan. We used to be regulars at 929. While I respect their ambition to expand, the restaurant just hasn't been the same since MOA opened. We stopped going for awhile just because they split up the menu in a weird way. MOA is great but more for special occasions and we wouldn't go there for 929 entrees. We've recently started going to 929 again and it's been okay. 929 is never going to be bad, but it's not the same. The food isn't as good. The prices seem to be higher. They've made mistakes that we never used to see. The old 929 is missed, but we've accepted it's not coming back and we'll dine at the mediocre version occasionally. read more

I believe our waitress's name was Bayle and she was great! There is street parking. The inside is really cool and rustic. You can dress up or dress casually. They have beer, sake, wine, and cocktails. Here's what I tried: - Side Dish Trio (AKA BanChan) ($4): Very good! Loved the different kimchi! - Mandoo (5 pieces) ($7): Delicious! - Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap ($16): Suuuper good. If you don't do spice, just don't get the spicy gojuchang sauce. Came with miso soup, which was delicious! - Chicken Bulgogi Japchae ($15): The clear sweet potato starch noodles were so good! I personally liked the bibimbap better because it came with more. The renovations done have drastically changed the acoustics of the space. Having hard parallel surfaces on both walls and ceiling makes this place miserable to have a conversation over dinner. It's so loud when occupants are just across the table and you are unable to hear each other without basically yelling. The music they are playing in the background had a significant bass that was playing and making the noise level that much higher. I guess if you want to eat dinner in a club atmosphere and yell at your date you might enjoy this setting but I will not be dining here again until some acoustic panels are installed to dampen the sound. The table we sat at was wobbly and the food was rushed and not nearly as good as the last time we ate dinner here. The bimbop stone bowl rice was not chewy and seared like it was before and the creamy udon noodles were not very curry tasting with more of bland salty taste until I poured the spicy sauce that came with the bimbop over it. All and all this visit was a disappointment. My chopsticks were also dirty and still had bits of food stuck to them. read more

I actually lucked up and got extremely close. I paid the metered and entered into the restaurant. I was greeted by the lovely host and seated. The restaurant is a decent size, not too big. I can't imagine how it is when it's packed in there. A lot of people were coming to pick up meals as well. I ordered a mimosa and it was really good! It was decently priced too. I ordered the Kimchi Bulgogi Nachos, parmesan truffle fries, and a spicy pork taco. The taco was literally the best thing for me. It was delicious! The nachos were good as well, but the bulgogi sweetness was a little too much for me. The parmesan fries was a miss for me. With the type of fries they serve, the parmesan truffle do not mix. Overall, great vibe, great customer, a large variety cocktail menu, and good food! Oh yeah, they close at 2:30 pm to prepare for dinner. I think the kitchen closes a few minutes before. read more

I have 3 girls 12-9, and they loved the little water sacks with ice cubes. First I love the thoughtful presentations. My family was indecisive about food choices and the waitress was happy to give us extra time to sort through their menu. All the food was delicious, brought out super quick, and the restaurant is very pretty. Our waitress was wonderful and we over heard the bartender helping another customer to make sure the customer's custom drink was exactly what they ordered. The Spicy Pork Bibimbap was fresh, light, healthy, and tasty. A perfect dish really. My Spicy Pork Cream Curry Udon was so rich in umami flavor. Thought it was going to be a super heavy dish since it's cream based but surprisingly it's light. The noodles are perfect texture. Not sure where they are sourcing these or if they make them in house but I loved it. The atmosphere is super cool and our server was knowledgeable and very nice. Bibimbaptastic!! I wish this place were in my hometown and I'd be there all the time. Had the good fortune of trying it out while passing through Columbia for one night only. How lucky to find what I can only imagine is the best place in town - and confirmed by some other helpful Yelpers. The veggie bibimbap in the hot stone bowl was scrumptious! (And scalding, so beware.) Loved all the mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, rice, and egg on top. I had both the spicy and sweet sauces and mixed it all together. The crusty rice on the side of the stone bowl was *chef's kiss* and the miso accompaniment was also excellent. My boyfriend really liked his spicy pork noodles as well. Cool atmosphere, funky lights and bar, and a super friendly server added to the ambience. Might sound weird, but even the restroom was cool and especially clean. Only downside was something messed up in the back with tickets and our kimchi fries didn't arrive as an app but late with the meal. It was nice that our server was honest about the glitch, but would've been nicer if they had just been comped or canceled since we didn't really need, want, or eat them at the point our entrees arrived. My wife & I were looking forward to a late lunch, but were refused seating at 2:06 being told, "our last seating was at 2pm." Not only was this only 6 minutes late, that information is not on any signage and the posted hours say 2:30pm. Also, there were only two tables seated, so it was unlikely a seating for 2 more would have caused any kitchen delay compared to 2pm with a full house. Stopped in for dinner with my family (two toddlers) and was craving Korean food (I am Korean). We were in town for a night from the DC area and I was skeptical about how good it would be. It was phenomenal! The place is gorgeous inside with a full bar and huge drink list. The food was spot on! The service was great and staff were all friendly and welcoming. The prices were reasonable.
