He was very attentive. Chef Raul was amazing, he took great care of us and made us feel important. All of the food was incredible, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Last minute trip during a mini vacation and decided to stop here to eat. We were slightly underdressed (shorts and tshirt) and they let us eat anyways. The restaurant was outside of the casino which made for a better setting. The service was amazing. The staff was super knowledgeable and courteous. They had wonderful recommendations. The gnocchi was drizzled with a truffle sauce that blended so well. The New York steak was cooked to perfection and wasn't over powered by seasoning. The dry age ribeye...my first dry aged steak and I will say that it was yummy. Yes yummy. Not a huge fan of the blue cheese flavors it boasts but it blended well and the steak was cooked to perfection. Now for desserts...one of the best crème brûlées I have ever had. well it started out okay... our waitress was very nice but it went down hill after that ...our friends were served the wrong steak. she asked for a bone in rib and got a boneless. we asked for some more house bread but they had ran at so someone thought that it was okay to service us regular bread. i guess they thought the presentation would keep us from knowing that it was regular bread cut into triangles and served in a bread rack. not cool. no comp dessert or billing adjustment or comp dinner. not cool at all and our waitress was new so she had no clue what to do to savage the experience. read more

However, the potato puree lacked flavor, the ribeye was very fatty with almost half of it left un-eaten. The wagyu sirloin was undercooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. I enjoyed the food! My steak was really good. A little overcooked but very flavorful and probably one of my top ones. My husband's steak was overcooked, too. And was probably the worst ribeye he's had lol. The salad was really good, the gnocchi was interesting and I think I'd eat it again. And the service....It started off REALLY good. But it ended up being SO bad. Our server was like stuck on the checkout machine thing pretty much the whole night, so clearly they were having some issues with their machines. But geeze. He offered us some espresso martini shots on the house right away, we had to remind him about them and they still never came out. My wife and I spent our Anniversary here last night!! First time visiting 980. What a VERY NICE place. Upscale!! All the wait staff were dressed to the nines and super nice. They know what they were doing and it showed!! The food was the best part of the night!! My wife had the Bison Chop and I had the aged Prime Rib. Fall off the fork tender!! Cooked to perfection. We got the Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer and it was as perfect as it could be. We got Asparagus and Large Baked Potato to share, again it was cooked to perfection. The drinks!! They have their own based on Cripple Creek History!! Very nice and they were very good! Due to the price I won't be able to return unless it's a special occasion but it was well worth it to eat the perfection they served! read more

First impression our servers breath was horrible! Very off putting when you're eating anywhere let alone a " high end struck house". Next was the wait. We were seated around 8. Granted it took some time for our party to get completely gathered so out our orders went in around 9. It took forever for drinks, again our server was very inattentive throughout service. When the food did arrive I was less than impressed. If you are going to charge $89 for a steak it better be amazing. It was not. In fact my daughters who love steak didn't even finish theirs because they said it was gross. This was not the advertised dry aged steak listed on the menu either. The asparagus was the thickest I have ever seen. Think size of a cigar. It was not great either. Overall the ambiance was very nice but other than that I was less than impressed. Save your money and go somewhere else. This is not the place to spend it. I could go on but it's not even with it. In all dinner took 3.5hours, we were never even checked on once food was served, salad plates were not cleared between service, I had to ask for a serving spoon for the $49 lobster mac n cheese, I had to ask for new untimely and napkins for dessert. It was utterly disappointing to say the least. I know it's a tough employment pool to choose from in CC but this was managements lack of training and care. This was one of the worst dinning experiences we've had. First, my wife's drink was wrong but ok, not a big deal. Our salads were pretty good, but then came the entrees. We didn't get all of our sides and no steak knives for her surf and turf and my filet. Then as she was eating her lobster it was RAW. No management came out to try and make it right. It was terrible. Giving this 3 stars because of the service and ambiance. That's being generous, but I'm hoping for Cripple Creek to become a destination. Let's be real, this place is WAY overpriced. Ordered 2 dirty martinis ($15/ ea) (one each folks), because they had blue cheese stuffed olives. SO tasty! (Don't expect a full glass though- these are 50's martinis). Ordered a filet (8 oz), a $15 side of mushrooms and onions, and their special of the night - a 4oz filet ( med rare) with 2 seared scallops on top of a purée - $89.00. Hubbies steak came out perfectly medium rare. My dish, well done. No side delivered. When I mentioned my steak was overdone, they immediately took it away ( left the scallops "to enjoy") and we waited. And waited. And waited. They brought us a loaded baked potato while we waited as a "here you go". (Another BTW- there was only one other couple dining while we were there). They only brought the side after 10 minutes and we reminded them. My replacement steak was brought and the server asked me to cut into it to see if it was to my liking and though it was rare, not medium rare, I accepted it. Asked to speak to chef, told he was back in Las Vegas, and that was that. Overall, our meal came out to over $200 before taxes and tip and it was subpar. I truly hope they get their act together...
