The store is large and has many aisles stacked with goodies, ranging from household items, food products, drinks, teas, jewelry, makeup, perfume, and clothing to daily essentials and fun gag gifts. You are bound to find something that you like! One of the older male employees appeared kind and friendly. I appreciated his customer support despite our language barrier. The ladies at the cash wrap were the downfall of the entire experience and are the primary reason I will not give a full five-star rating. Their unprofessional behavior and poor attitudes significantly impacted what was otherwise an enjoyable visit. Upon checking out, I noticed that all of my goodies were ringing up well beyond what I had calculated. When I politely asked what the store charged for taxes, as the total was approximately $10-$20 higher than expected, one cashier stated that it was not something she would know. She did not offer to provide customer service by asking someone who did know. Intrinsically, I felt that she was not being forthcoming with me. I told her, "No worries," and explained that I would set everything aside, review the items, and decide how I wanted to proceed. However, once she saw me pull out my calculator and begin reviewing the prices, she suddenly decided she wanted to answer my question--albeit begrudgingly. She made several statements regarding the pricing and taxes that did not make much sense. The numbers kept changing, and there never seemed to be a clear explanation as to what was actually being charged. I eventually sought clarification from the other cashier, who appeared noticeably sour in her attitude toward me. She performed much the same dance as the first cashier. It was not until someone I knew entered the store and we began socializing that a clearer explanation emerged. During our conversation, he asked a similar question regarding pricing. At that point, a more direct explanation was finally provided. From my understanding, for many items priced at $1.00 or more, an additional dollar is added to the listed price. For example, if an item is marked at $2.00, the final shelf price may effectively become $3.00 before taxes. Items marked at $0.99 generally remain $0.99, excluding applicable taxes. Admittedly, there are not many items remaining at the true $0.99 price point. From my understanding, this explanation does not account for the overall tax amount. I will be reviewing my receipt further and will update my review if necessary. The pricing structure can leave customers feeling confused or even misled, so I would encourage shoppers to pay close attention to pricing and ask questions before completing their purchases. That said, outside of the customer service concerns and the lack of pricing transparency, the store itself is truly a fabulous little addition to Long Beach. The variety of products, the treasure-hunt atmosphere, and the overall shopping experience make it a fun place to explore. I would still recommend checking it out.

I'm pretty sure this 99 Cents Plus store is not affiliated with any national chain (like 99¢ Only stores), but it's not hindering their inventory supply in any way. The place was packed and had some of the widest variety of knick knacks I've ever seen. A large part of the store has food items that you would find at your corner neighborhood store (I want to call them bodegas but my wife has told me repeatedly that it's not a term used out here). The prices are what you would expect, similar to other dollar stores. The rest of the store can be treated like a treasure hunt. Variety of different clothes and housewares with a surprisingly big selection. PIcked up a mortar and pestle set (plastic!), zip ties (something I keep buying thinking we don't have any at home...and being wrong). Most prices were either $1.49 or $1.99. The most unusual thing was they were selling Bettas for $1.99..one would think that is unusual, but looking on-line,.. it's not.

Pretty much all the knick-knacks and bigger than we've bought from various Daiso's have been good quality and durable: I tend to lose/misplace them more frequently than having them break. That's what happened for the various chip/bag clips, so bought some more of those ($2.25 which is the price for the majority of non-marked items here). Have had good luck with glass 'tupperware' containers here: tight sealing, very durable, great for storing food that stain plastic (e.g. kimchi). That was on the high end at $7.00 (since marked at 400 yen). Checkout was easy, payable by credit card. Getting good at bringing our own reusable bags to skip the bag fees prevalent in California.

Daiso was founded in 1977, with the name meaning To Create Big. It originated from the 100Yen…read morestores that are all over Japan, This location in Long Beach is well run, with fully stocked shelves, ranging from very specific products used for one particular purpose to everyday things that one would constantly have to replenish. Slowly browsing the shelves is like walking through a series of infocommercials...very possible that what you buy was a complete waste of money, but having the risk be minimal since it's only a dollar. When we went to Japan many years ago (before Daiso made it to the US in 2005), 100 yen truly meant a dollar. But the Japanese economy has really struggled compared to the US, to the point where 100 yen is only worth 64 cents now in 2024. Another thing I noticed is how they handle labeling of prices. Both 100yen stores and US dollar stores keep the effort of pricing products low, by selling everything at one even price (i.e. a dollar or 100yen). Of course, with inflation, this is not sustainable...prices need to go up. So rather than having to relabel everything as prices go up, instead Daiso uses the prelabeled price in YEN to represent a CODE..translated to a dollar amount per charts that are found throughout the store. And the vast majority of product has no price...which means that it is the default price of the entire store (which in 2024 is $1.75). Unlike 99cent or dollar stores in the US which sell mostly excess products that you can find in department or grocery stores, much of the products in Daiso are made exclusively for them. Thus, you can find real useful things here, at decent quality. On this visit (which we made only because we saw this store near the place where we had lunch), we ended up getting 2 china soup bowls, loose tea leaf filters, a fat/scum skimmer for soups, a spring loaded glass bottle for Q-tips (or in my case, Glide flossers), and a 10 pack of clasp chip bag clips. And none of them had marked prices, so defaulted to $1.75 each. Even here, they ask if you want a bag, needing to charge you the dime if you answer 'Yes' (that's California). So we always say 'No', and because this time we had not brought reusable bags, used the bowls to contain the knick-knacks back to our car. Would have been a very different story if we had walked, but alas, Brand Daiso is one of those stores that is not within walking distance from our place.

The issue I'm having is I had one pair of shoes that I had bought about a week ago I had the return through email receipt. I went in right before I had an appointment tonight 30 minutes before expecting to be in and out how to cashier don't know her name Seemed very nice but could not figure out how to get the return done off of my email receipt because it was not scanning then I guess the store manager was standing right next to her. His name is Jesse. He offered to help try to scan my receipt from my phone, unable to scan my receipt for my phone. He said my only option was to get store credit. I told him no that is not my only option I have the receipt. I should be able to get the money back on my card. He said no we can only do store credit. I persisted and said no there's definitely another way you can do this as a store manager he should know other ways to handle situations like this. The receipt email not being able to be scanned from the system. Has nothing to do with me. I did my part by having my receipt. He took my phone so he can look at the email then I don't know what he did. He pressed some numbers on the computer and copied some numbers off of the receipt and boom the return was done just like that and money was able to go back to my card. The thing that upset me was, he was so over trying to help me out in another way, and just automatically was trying to force me to get store credit when that is not how I wanted my refund, especially with having my receipt I should've been able to get it back to my card I should not have had to push and have to get attitude just to make him go above the the minimum work sadly, I had to throw a fit in order for him to just do it the way it was supposed to be done because he was trying to take the easy way out and just give me a store credit definitely not good service from the store manager Jesse more like lazy and seemed like he did not want to help

Bath & Body Works had 2 options, and after asking the staff members their recommendations, I went with their Clay Face Mask with kaolin clay, bentonite clay & Vitamin E. I've been using the product on & off again, and have been happy with the results. So much, I plan to keep it in my personal grooming rotation, just not particularly this specific product, to maximize value. The staff were friendly & helpful during my visit. There were only a few customers shopping, so wait was minimal. If looking for grooming and/or beauty products, I highly recommend Bath & Body Works.

If you park further down, closer to the gym, you can find a parking spot easily. Like other See's, this place was clean and had the OG ambience that other stores have. The lady working the counter was very friendly and let us know the specials. During our visit, we ended up ordering just a few treats that included a couple of the Scotchmallows, Milk Butterchew, and a Milk Caramel Pattie. All were delicious and had a perfect amount of caramel that I enjoyed. I will forever be a fan of See's, so I will definitely go back for myself or to score a great gift for friends and family.
