Stopped by the 99 Ranch in Pleasanton while trying to track down this drink I had been looking for everywhere, and they actually had it. I usually go to the Daly City location since I live nearby, but this one felt noticeably cleaner and more organized. Everything was easier to find and the store overall just felt better maintained. Anyhow, they started bagging; they still ask 'do you really want me to do what I get paid to do?' questions. But improving. For the lady who asked me if I wanted her to bag groceries. yes. there was nobody else near us and you were just standing there. So the answer is always yes. We pay the store and the store pays you to do your job. When did this "customers bag their own bags" trend started in all Asian Markets? I've been shopping 99 Ranch Market from San Jose to Sacramento and online. Mostly, it's been online. Since Livermore is closer to Central Valley, this seemed to be the better destination, although I thought about the Regional Street location in Dublin. This is the only new location I've seen in Northern California. The store looks good, although organization wasn't exactly 100%. I missed a couple of things that they used to have, but got substitutes for the Soy Milk and Coffee. Someone handed me a bakery coupon and I got Egg Tarts and an Apple turnover. I didn't see any of the Pineapple moon cakes but we're two weeks past that anyway. Sadly, I found almost all the goodies I shouldn't be buying. I'd already eaten, so I didn't try any of the freshly cooked food. Do they do things more upscale in the SoCal locations? Cashier was friendly and efficient. We were in the area trying to decide where to grab some lunch. Most of the restaurants open at 11am and we were a bit early so decided to walk through 99 Ranch to see what was on offer. Our last trip into this store was probably over a year ago. For the most part, it looked much the same as before. We did notice a couple of new chest freezers. We saw the huge display of Moon Cakes at the front of the store. The aisles and shelving looked packed with goods. Two things threw us off. One, the entire store was freezing cold. I like cold. I thrive on cold. I used to drive around in San Francisco with the air conditioner on. But this store was uncomfortably cold. Weird. We looked at the hot food display. Some of the food looked quite good. I didn't take the time to ask but the pricing structure seemed out of whack. There was a bundle of four food boxes that had a price. I presumed that would be the price for filling four boxes of that size. But then I saw prices for individual boxes that seemed quite high. It would behoove them to have someone make a sign in English that explains clearly their pricing structure. As we walked the store, we knew that we weren't going to buy anything. There were things that we could have used at home, but the lines were ridiculously long at the two check stands that were open. We were at the front of the store at least three times over the 15 minutes we were in the store, and the lines were always 6 to 8 customers deep. There was a man who I presume was a manager at the customer service counter overseeing the operation. He was mumbling something, but I didn't understand his dialect. However, we felt that he could have taken customers out of line who had items that didn't need to be weighed and ring them out to help cut the lines. When this store first opened, there were as many as six checkers. Times have changed. read more

I have shopped at this 99 Ranch for a long time. The amount of coupons(the ones you can use for the bakery and food court) I receive each time has been very inconsistent. There was a time I spent over 100 dollars and only received 1. The employees seemed to just give me the amount based on how they feel that day. Recently I visited another 99 Ranch and discovered that they actually have a coupon policy. Basically you should receive a 2 dollar coupon for every 20 dollars you spend. I feel very betrayed and tricked. read more

This is my favorite 99 Ranch Market because they are clean, organized, and have an amazing snack selection. The only place where I can get my salted egg popcorn. Love the bakery $$ they give with purchase as well. read more

I rarely write reviews for grocery stores, but this Ranch 99 is one of the cleanest ones that I have been to. Yes I know it's called 99 Ranch, but I like to annoy people by calling it Ranch 99 growing up. Can't really say much about their cooked food section which some have complained about, but I thought the sesame balls I have gotten from there are solid. I also like their options in the bakery section. Everything seemed fresh when I went. The store is really easy to navigate and it's in a great location with so many restaurants nearby. When I'm heading into the central valley from the Bay Area, I always stop by this store first. Parking is also pretty easy even on weekends. read more

I went into the restroom at 99 Ranch and noticed a female employee already inside. I entered a stall, and she began loudly banging the garbage can and doors-especially the one next to mine. It felt intentional, but I tried to ignore it. She left, then returned to the stall beside me and continued banging everything she touched. When I stepped out to wash my hands, I asked her why she was doing that. She didn't respond and instead went back into a stall and resumed banging. I reported the incident to the supervisor, who suggested she might be mopping-but she wasn't holding a mop or cleaning. She was simply being disruptive and rude. I hope the store owner addresses this behavior and trains staff on proper manners and customer service. read more

Service is subpar. Cashier Yujin C. has zero people skills. Zero verbal communication. After ringing up the items she just stared at me. I had to ask, "are you ready for me to pay?", which she did not respond to other than just turning her back. I figured I would just tap my card and see what happened. She turned around to hand me my receipt. Again no words exchanged. Immediately started scanning the next customers items and throwing them down where mine were before I had a chance to put anything back in my cart. We spoke to her manager who confirmed she does in fact speak English, she just chooses to be rude. Replacing her with self checkout would somehow be a more personable experience. read more

The Hispanic girl at the lottery register asked me to go back to the regular register while she's helping a customer in front of me. Rose Pavilion 99 Ranch: Once again I witness unfair practices at this 99 Ranch Market. There's a new sign that says you must have a purchase of $40 to receive a $2 discount food court coupon. The person ahead of me had a $20 purchase and a small deli item. The cashier pulled 3 $2 off coupons from her stack and showed the customer who nodded. She rang up the coupons and comped the deli item. Of course we had no special treatment. When I questioned the cashier she told us our purchase, just under $40 didn't qualify for a coupon. (!!) This review is for their hot deli and bbq. Five stars! Great amount of food. Great value for $14. Delicious bbq. Quick and satisfying dinner! We always get the 2 meat combo rice/noodle plate for $14, which comes with 2 choices of soy chicken, roasted duck, cha siu, roasted pork belly, choice of white rice, fried rice, or fried noodles, and steamed vegetables. The lady at the food cashier is sooo friendly and soooo generous. She always tried to gave us more food that she had a hard time closing the to-go container. This one seems a bit smaller than other ones I've been to, but also seems a bit cleaner and more organized. I say Ranch 99. It's just a habit. I know it's 99 Ranch; but, I swear most of my friends and my extended 'ohana say Ranch 99 too. I don't shop at Ranch 99 very often. When I do, I come to this location. This store is the newest and cleanest compared to the other stores in Pleasanton and Dublin. Also, it isn't as crowded so that's a major plus. Additionally my youngest does not like the smell of fish or seafood. If I shop here I notice this store doesn't have that strong smell compared to the other stores. I will say to check expiration dates. I have found a few expired items. Otherwise, it's a pretty good Ranch 99. read more

The 99 Ranch in the Pacific Pearl mall is probably the newest branch in the Bay Area, and oddly its the second one in Pleasanton. It's literally a freeway exit away! I wonder whether demand for Asian groceries is super high. Two stores so close to each other run the risk of cannibalizing their own business! This 99 Ranch is super-clean, and is surrounded by the largest variety of restaurants outside. The parking lot is also spacious and level, which is a huge plus over the Dublin branch. I did find the selection of produce a bit less than the Rosewood branch, which is probably my go-to branch. The meat department is also much smaller and seems to shut down by 7pm. During the COVID-19 shelter-in-place, I noted that not all 99 Ranches have the same rules which can be a plus. We like Crystal Geyser bottled waters and whereas the Rosewood 99 Ranch limits 2 gallons per customer, no such limit exists at the Stoneridge branch! read more

I was very excited to get to check out this market. I had never been inside one. My friends and I spent a solid hour and a half just wondering around and checking out the huge selection. I was a big fan of the enormous production section. There was a ton of bok choy, pak choy, ong choy, all kinds of different choys I've never even seen before. Each section was packed full of variety. So many different kinds of noodles, fish cakes, instant noodles, sweets snacks, salty snacks, hot sauces and oils, vinegars, etc. The fish market in the back was very large. I happy to find something similar to one of my favorite baked goods, the mocha roll, from Goldilocks. In the bakery, I found a Tiger Roll, which is pretty much a mocha roll with another layer of cake wrapped around it. It was delicious! I'm glad I found it and I will definitely back for more. I do wish that the Chinese take out deli was open while we were there. I would've loved to check out what they have. read more

This here is the newest 99 Ranch Market in this area. There's already 2 others in Dublin and Pleasanton, so it's surprising they opened another store, but I guess there sure must be a lot of Asian customers in the Tri-Valley area. This new store is more towards the Livermore end of the valley. It's pretty big inside actually with all the normal departments that all 99 Ranch stores have. It's seemed cleaner too. I'll say the prices sure have gone up on the ready to eat Chinese deli foods. $10 bucks now for a small combo box of food! The boxes seem smaller too than they used to be. Mostly I come for the ready to eat food, like the BBQ and some of the dim sum items. Some of the thing offered are just a little too "authentic" for me. I posted pics of the current deli prices. The bakery here seems a little smaller, but they have all the same cakes and pies. I'd guess this place might get crowded on weekends, as I came during the week. I'll probably make this my stop for ready to eat Chinese food if I'm in this area, as opposed to the other 99 Ranch locations. Just a note, there is no General's Chicken or egg rolls offered, but you can get chicken feet and roast duck including the head! There was mostly an Asian crowd shopping here. read more

The newest of the 3 store in the area located in the Pacific Pearl Plaza across the outlet. There is a bunch of asian stores/food place in this plaza as to what I assume that would attract the asian population that frequent the outlet. Though this store is closer by one exit from the one I usually frequent to, I tend to notice that the price varies for some of their products compared to that of their other 2 stores in the area and I feel like they overprice some items that you can get some place else for a lesser price. This store dissuades me to frequent them as they usually ran out stock so I have to actually go to my usual store if I wanted to get my items. Their monthly meat and seafood sales also get me as I love getting them fresh. Getting live crabs and lobsters here are a plus for me, though you have to keep watch when they actually are lower in price since they can get a bit pricey off season. Also, I stock up on their fresh shrimps even though I am allergic to shellfish. I also get a whole pork belly that I cut up myself to make ssamgyupsal or adobo, coz fat is where it's at! People here also gets a bit all up in your 6ft distance space and that kind of frustrates me. I like the location of this place as they are next door to a boba place and across from bread store, so that's a plus for me. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving pho for dinner. We had the broth and the noodles, but we needed to get the meats. What better place to stop off at for nicely thin-sliced rib eye and brisket meat than at 99 Ranch! This location is part of the Pacific Pearl mall in Pleasanton and right off the 580 freeway exit, diagonally across the San Francisco Premium Outlets. During these COVID days, the store provides hand sanitizer and some paper towels to wipe down your basket or cart. However, the downside is that they charge 10 cents a plastic bag when they don't allow customers to bring in their own reusable bags. 99 Ranch has plenty of Asian and non-Asian foods to select from and a variety of meats and seafood. Everything is packaged well. The store is pretty clean and the aisles aren't too narrow so two people can pass by each other with ease. When you check out, you may receive a coupon for either the deli or bakery to use on your next visit. read more

This review is only for their Char Siew Soh, a Dim Sum item that's a baked pastry filled with Chinese bbq pork. The pastry had some buttery layers to it but I was looking for something more flaky and I didn't get that, but the flavor on the pastry was good - the savory, buttery flavor really came through. The bbq pork filling was a little disappointing - I was expecting that characteristically red color on the Chinese bbq pork but I was definitely missing that; and flavor wise, I think it was just ok and could've been better if it had been a tad sweeter. Luckily one of the customer service employees that are usually based in the front behind cashiers was near the meat aisle. I decided to ask her. She asked if I can speak mandarin. Typical Ranch 99 and the only thing interesting about this place is it's new. From the inside it seems like just a nice Ranch 99. I like that it's located near a bunch of restaurants like that one off Mission Blvd and 880. Loved they were selling live razor clams which taste better than abalone to me. Asian vegetables were picked through so I felt I was left with the rejects. I have written poor reviews about the Dublin and Pleasanton stores in the past for being unethical in selling old food and spoiled food deceptively. Hope this store isn't owned by the same people or managers so three stars for now. read more

Review #067 - 2020 I have been to my shares of 99 Ranch & this one is newer and cleaner than most. It also seems a little smaller in comparison. I came here on Wednesday, April 1st, looking for a few ingredients that I'd completely run out of because I've been cooking pretty much everyday due to this whole coronavirus ordeal. I guess it's one way to save money rather than eating out. I found everything that I needed except the one special brand Thai soy sauce, which is my favorite brand. I've tried other brands and they're just not right for me. I don't know if they normally don't carry them or if they were just sold out. They had a generic copy cat brand that I don't like so I had to buy a different brand which was almost $20 a bottle. Talk about pricey soy sauce. Since I was out and knew I would be too lazy to cook as soon as I got back home, I decided to buy their half roast duck/half soy sauce chicken combo for $20 for lunch later. Both items appeared clean & plump. Pretty tasty too! My house is about a 20-minute drive from every local 99 Ranch so I guess I'll visit this location more often since there's an 85° in the same shopping center. read more
